I really couldn't believe this was a "study". I imagine some txttlkr did this to justify his reasons for talking like a moron.

Oh, I've seen this before. It actually was a study that a university did. Did you really read it? It's true. As long as the first and last letters of a word are in the right place, the word can be read wheather or not the word is spelled correctly. I could read it just fine.

Sad thing was, I COULD read it... for the most part that is. I really didn't like the bad spellings. rolleyes

I've seen this infamous object as a chain letter from my Myspace.

I can read it as well, though I find it strange how my mind makes them into correctly spelled words.

Well it's just proving that your mind corrects the word subconciously. Why is because your mind has seen the word so many times that even if it is spelled wrong your mind can quickly just fix it and move on without you even noticing.

I came across this a few times before. And overlooked the obviously horrible spelling...it took me a while to adjust. stare

Wow, that was amazing. hahaha. I can't believe it. I DID understand it, that is insane. as long as the first and last letters are in place, you can understand it. Hahahha, this is great!

It's really not that hard at all to read.

It was posted on a door at my high school. I read it a lot just for laughs, but there was not an "if you could read this, repost it" at the end. Maybe it has recently become a chain?

MySpace is bleeding over onto the rest of the Internet. Sweet Jesus, help us all.

I've seen this several times. The first time, a coworker of mine had posted it as a bulletin on MySpace, and I remember staring at it for the longest time thinking, "Of course I can read it! What on Earth's the matter with--oh, it's all spelled wrong." *smacks forehead* I honestly couldn't see at first what was so strange about the words.

The human mind never ceases to amaze me, either in the way of pure genius or incomparable stupidity, I'll never know.

I hate that thing! Though it is pretty cool that our minds hate n00b speak, and therefore fix it, I still wish the paragraph was a little bit smaller, and the mis spellings weren't so...misspelled...
Man, I do sound stuck up! xp

The process your brain goes through in order to read that is called typoglycemia.

Cambridge University actually did do that study.

Yep.

I, personally, find it fascinating.

This is true, I've seen it in numerous places. It is kind of cool that we can read things in that way, though it still gives people who can't spell a reason for not changing.

True, I could read it, but you can read much more quickly if the words are spelled correctly. I spent a fraction of a second longer deciphering each word, but after a while, it adds up.
