Shade had found some of the strangest things in the warehouse of supplies. One of the strangest happened to be almost four foot tall thick rubber balls with air holes in them. They each had small doors, complete with latches.
Now what did one do with a dozen balls like that? He went to the Daycare and recruited a handful of babies to set them loose in the gym. This, he thought as he looked at the kids, was going to be FUN.
Maybe it was a good thing he had gotten a job, after all!

Harper stood staring at Shade with the blankest face ever expressed on the boy in his small lifetime. He had been stolen and now he was in this room with gigantic balls of doom fun, but had no idea where his parents were and none of the children looked overly familiar. None that he had noticed just yet, anyway.
Still, he was hardly an inhibited child, so his expression was one more of bewilderment than fear. Glancing around him to look at any other kids with them, he quickly looked back to Shade and grinned. "We play?"

Oh no. Oh, no no no. Devakanya had been enjoying her nice, peaceful quiet time at daycare when she had been KIDNAPPED by some strange man she didn't even know! And why? She had no idea! She, and some other children, had been taken to the gym, and there were balls every where. They were HUGE, bigger than her, even! And worst of all, she wasn't even allowed to have Blackie! Her poor, faithful steed was left behind, and anyone could take him!
What was a unicorn to do? She didn't want to play!

"We play," Shade agreed with the little punk boy, grinning widely. He walked over to the nearest ball, showing them the door. "You can get in this and it'll roll. You want to try it?"

It took Harper awhile to register what that meant, but when he did, he was running as fast as his stubby legs would allow toward Shade.
"Yes!!" He screamed, throwing himself at, and hopefully into the giant ball.
After getting situated just a second later, he looked at Devakanya and made a beckon motion. "You come play too!" He practically sang.
He clapped his hands and gleefully grinned at Shade.

...play too? She didn't want to play too! No! She whimpered, chewing on her lower lip as she watched the little boy hurl himself at the humongous balls, obviously pleased. Wait! The teacher man and the boy were over there! Was she alone?
Alone was worse than playing, much, much worse. She toddered over, peering at the ball the boy had so eagerly attacked. He really wanted her to play? How was she supposed to get in...? She watched Harper before nodding slowly, still worrying her lip as she glanced back at the teacher. Okay, Mr. Man. Now what?

"If you don't want to get in, you don't have to," Shade told her seriously. The balls were well padded with clear rubber and far too heavy for the little ones to get going fast. "You can just watch."

Devakanya blinked at the teacher. He wasn't going to make her play? Slightly surprised, the little blue child ambled closer, nodding slowly. She latched onto the leg of his pants, feeling safer near the authority. She didn't want to be left out, though. She looked up and gave a gently tug, pointing at the ball. Maybe she would play.
...just no going fast.

Harper frowned at the little girl. Still trying to keep his balance he shook his head at her, "No, you play!" he insisted, only to add in a "please!" a second later. He made another beckon motion and did his best to grin at her. "Is fun!" He elaborated. He passed his glance to Shade and furrowed his eyebrows at the man, wondering why he wasn't enforcing playtime. If she played he'd have more fun so obviously he should make her play even if she didn't have any fun playing. Right.

Shade nodded, picking her up and heading for a second big, clear rubber ball. "You want to go in here? All you have to do is tell me you don't like it and I'll let you out, okay?"

Well, at least the boy was polite, so that could only be a good sign. And he hadn't tried to eat anything yet. That was good too. Devakanya was quiet -as always- while Shade carried her over to the ball. His plan was all well and good...if the unicorn actually spoke. She nodded anyways, glancing sideways at the other boy. He was going to play too, right? It would be okay if she wasn't the only one...right?

((Sorry, just was thinking with her horn two in the same ball could be deadly))
Shade put her in a second ball, closing the door and stepping back. It would take some effort just to get the balls moving, and he figured he'd stop them before anything bad happened, or if they got too quick. "You guys ready?" he called to them. "Start rolling!"

((Ees okay! Devi just worries liek whoa.))
Devakanya froze as Shade stuck her in the ball, looking around the plastic bubble for a moment before deciding there was no threat. Okay. Okay. She could be okay in this. She glanced over; the teacher was still there and the other boy was still there. Okay. She glanced forward and at his instruction, timidly stepped forward...
...and promptly rolled. Her eyes wide, she would have shrieked or squeaked, or something...but instead, just flailed. Flailed and toppled. Oh dear. She hadn't been expecting that. It was like the ground just...moved! She arranged herself into a cross-legged position, looking around for the other boy. She had no idea how to do this.

"So," said a friendly voice next to Shade, "I'm pretty sure this is illegal in most places."
It was one of the nursery-workers: Xi-Wang Cheng, lifting up his bandanna surreptitiously ever so often to sip on a coffee (with a straw? What a way to drink coffee), watching animatedly as the babies rolled around in their plastic balls. He scratched the back of one ear leisurely, eyes tracking Devakanya as she sat in her ball flailing wildly. "Not that I'm not saying that this is the most hilarious s**t ever," he added, "but Harper's talking and I so have to find a way to make him not tell his mom about this. Some of their moms and dads are really scary. - Not as scary as Evan, though. - I'm here to clear up the vomit, by the way."

"Think I'll get fired?" Shade asked thoughtfully. "I mean, the cash is good, but I've never had to wake up so early in my life. Besides, I'm not gonna let them get hurt or anything."
He started walking slowly, keeping track of them.
