Finally- nature was on Ariston's side! FINALLY, he could come out into the open again, showing his brilliant self confidently. For the past few days, Ariston was plagued with the humidity, and his hair fro'ed out completely.
It was a hideous sight, and for that reason, Ariston kept himself discarded from any life around him. He could NEVER show himself with such a disgusting fate, but since the morning brought about a new day, and his hair seemed to relax again, he was able to trot out with a smile.
That was the plague that was known as summer, and even in the wintertime when his hair would get dry from the cold, it was able to retain its beauty, unlike the fro it was a few days ago.
But alas, there was no reason to dwell on the negative anymore! Especially when the specimen looked as perfect as ever. And with that, Ariston strut through the open field, making his way through the lovely landscape. Ah, it felt nice to be in the open again.

And that was why the mare had asked her companions to carefully braid her hair. While she had always enjoyed the curls it possessed when it was loose, the unpredictable and ever changing climates she encountered simply weren't good for it. While she may have had to tame her hair through use of braids, that didn't make it any less pretty though! On the contrary, she rather thought that such braids gave her a...more 'elegant' look perhaps? Just enough of a boost to make her look so well and to not entirely suffocate her sense of fun.
True, she could rely on the twinkle in her eyes to get by but at a distance that wasn't always possible. Not every male in this vicinity seemed to have eagle eyes (more was the pity) so she had to make just a little more effort to emphasise her sense of fun alongside her undeniable beauty. Oh, she wasn't vain to the point of being pompous and socially incapable but she certainly was aware of how good she looked and it would take a damn sight more to tell her otherwise.
In short, she loved herself - flaws at all!
Shaking the morning dew away from her fluffy hooves, she gave a lazy wave of her tail and glanced briefly around her. At first there was nothing of note in her immediate proximity, the usual mares and foals drifting about in a world of their own - not quite awake, but definitely not asleep either...
"Shame," She mused a little to herself before casting her pink eyes towards the sky in an almost suggestive manner. Well, she had done it many times before and the Spirits had granted her wishes time and time again. She never asked for much, just a little company and conversation.
"One more time?" She cooed softly as her eyes slid back down to the horizon. Once again it seemed her timing was impeccable as the odd form of a stallion came in to view, blonde locks and pristine coat clearer visible. It was unsurprising that she sent her usual word of thanks to the spirits regardless as to whether the encounter was coincidence or not - they never failed her.
Thus, it was with another lazy wag of her tail that she that she began to make her way towards his location. She didn't stalk towards him directly, that would be too forward and uncouth (even for her)...no, she would slide around his side first and have a little peek at what he looked like. He certainly was pleasant on the eye from a distance -think of what he would be like up close.
Ohoo! She could hardly contain her excitement.

The other female would never know it- but Ariston was very keen on picking up scents, and once he realized a female was around, he was able to spot the white beauty almost instantly.
Maybe it was an acquired skill, but Ariston found himself most deserving, compared to other males. But none the less, the female's color was interesting to his eyes, and it gave him a reason to happily stride over. Anything interesting to him usually meant that it was a spectacle of beauty, and it needed to be observed. He noticed that she even adjusted her movements to match up and meet him, so he was pleased with that.
Besides, who wouldn't want to meet him?
Trying to get himself back on track, he finally noticed that the female was a unicorn, with interesting little details on her. "Good morning to you!" he said, in a pleasant voice. It was probably the best way to approach the female, since so many he had met seemed to be angry at him instantly because he was prettier then them.
But, Ariston could never judge females~ judging males was his only game, so he proceeded to smile at the unicorn while wondering how she would react to him, compared to others. "Such a lovely day we shall have." he added, in his confident tone.

Sparkles didn't get jealous, it wasn't in her nature and she had always been one to appreciate beauty in all its forms. Granted, she considered herself to be the epitome of beauty and was never modest in that regard but when she found something or someone that could almost rival her, she did have to offer her respect. This respect was much easier to give towards a stallion, after all, they could match her perfectly but could never beat her in that domain.
...The world would end before she would believe that someone had beaten her beauty. Such was her confidence in her own appearance that 'insults' and poor remarks in regards to her form were usually twisted to her advantage or ignored - insults were rare though, so her confidence in her own appearance seemed to grow daily.
It was a miracle her head hadn't exploded.
"I expect you are right," She replied smoothly, waving her tail from side to side in a lazy fashion as she came to a halt and took the opportunity to glance him over. Her pink eyes were 'critical', almost resembling that of a hawk as she looked over and assessed every little bit of him - from the condition of his hair to the muscles beneath his skin and the odd wings upon his back.
'Yum' would have been the appropriate phrase, but she opted not to voice such appreciation just yet. The spirits had been kind to her today and mentally she gave a squeal, something that wasn't heard but the twinkle in her eye did appear to increase.
"Mild enough, however, that being said if it were too warm I would simply go for a swim..." She mused, swivelling her ears round to indicate that she had her attention on him as opposed to elsewhere. The morning sun did wonders for her pearlescent coat, emphasising the silken quality that it possessed...that combined with the glitter of her horn and the tidy lines of braids and one might say she was very grateful that summer existed.
Maybe a little too warm sometimes but by the spirits it made her look good.
Nevertheless, shaking the thoughts from her mind, she lifted her pink eyes back to his and offered one of her more wistful smiles. Well, she had to be honest in her judgement and he most certainly rivalled her beauty, especially in terms of that gorgeous hair.
"You have lovely hair," She observed, completely by-passing any form of introduction to get on to a topic she seemed to deem more important. If he had a personality to compliment his looks then she figured she'd ask who he was.

He could tell that she had the ability to swim, but Ariston would never do such a thing. Her hair was compact and neat, whereas his would gain about twenty pounds from the mere weight of the sucked in water! "Ah, swimming must be nice, I've only been shoved in a stream before, and I remember the experience as awful." He sighed, suddenly feeling chilly at the mere thought of the skinwalker. "But, I do enjoy a good bathe, but the process is an exhausting one for me." Though, it was needed almost daily if he wanted to keep himself up to par!
He then sighed for a moment, before looking back to hear her comment about his hair.
"Ah, isn't it?" was his fist comment, and for many (it was an obnoxious) self reassurance! "My hair keeps me happy, I just love its golden delight. Thank you, my dear." he said, with a comforting ending. In the past he had learned how important it was to put 'thank you' at the end, since so many mares had violently expressed concern.
"And what about yourself? Such little details of white are quite lovely to my eyes! If only all unicorns could be as kind and pristine as yourself." Well, it was true! Ariston had run into many unicorns in his travels, and many were stubborn with horrible personalities.
"What can I say, I have a gnack for beauty." With a playful wink, he chuckled to himself and continued to fluff his hair from time to time. It was refreshing, to be out talking like this. Lately he had had so many personal dilemmas, that he needed a well needed break to stray away from those ill thoughts on his mind.

"Apparently you do," She observed, smiling warmly as he expressed gratitude for the compliment. While she didn't require thanks for a simple statement of fact, the fact he had taken the time to provide her with one was all the more sweet. It was apparent to this young mare that this gentleman may have been a beauty but also had a little something else to give him added 'oomph', a rare quality indeed.
Could he get any better?
"After all, you have chosen exquisite company...the very fact that you have entered my domain has made that clear," She giggled lightly at this, her comments made only in jest given her somewhat nomadic later. The only domain she 'ruled' over was the little bubble she alone existed in, there had been none who had ever been invited into that world.
"That being said, I do try to keep my coat in top form...you never know who you are going to meet," At this she provided him with a pointed glance and offered another of her smiles, this one a little more mischievous than the first, "For example, I would barely be able to contain myself if I hadn't looked the part when I stumbled upon your handsome form." She cooed, allowing her ears to swivel at each sound in turn.
...He had never swam?
That wouldn't do!
"Alas, falling into a stream is hardly swimming...you haven't lived until you have experienced what lies beneath the surface!" Striking a dramatic pose, she allowed her eyes to glaze over as she recounted her tale, "The murky depths with the fish that glitter like jewels - it's like another world entirely..." She released a sigh at this and canted her head to the side.
"You should try it at least once."

Interesting... she was confident, but yet a different kind of confident then Tiffany...
Tiffany was a whole 'nother story, and Ariston raised a brow for a moment, trying not to put the unicorn in the same category. But, her later compliment to him proved that she was actually quite different (thankfully), and didn't seem to be rude in that respect. Ariston just couldn't stand Tiffany, especially after his last encounter with Guilian.
"I appreciate that you looked your best, then. I always appreciate beauty, and find it important to acknowledge it whenever I can. Call it a hobbie, if you may." He flipped his hair over to the other side, and brought his purple eyes on hers again.
Ah, swimming, it still wasn't his most favorite subject. "If you say so, though I doubt I could hold my breath for that long. There is only one I know who can do such a thing, and that is a stubborn Kelpi." Bah Kuval, what a pain in the butt. His skin was so scaley and creepy, Ariston was glad he didn't have to associate himself with such genes.
"Is swimming a hobbie of yours?" She seemed so intrigued by the mere statement, so he looked at her strangely, trying to figure out where this loveable aspect of swimming came from. "Maybe I am just more of an air person, my dear." he added, while pondering the nature difference.

"Mmm," Sparkles gave her tail another wag as he hesitated briefly, his eyebrow raised and a part of her wondered what on earth had caused it. Not one to pry in that regard though, she allowed the subject to drop and offered another of her wistful smiles as he spoke once again. She would continue to appreciate his compliments even if she didn't constantly express her gratitude.
"You don't have to hold your breath for long, you can come back up for air - it's nice to see what's below on occasions," She mused, another lazy wag of her tail following as she drew nearer and canted her head to the side. While her eyes remained trained on his (for she wasn't afraid to look a man in the eye), her ears swivelled at the slightest of sounds.
"Mmmm, but it is something I enjoy now and again. Some might say it gives the coat a unique gleam in the sunlight when you once again appear on the surface," She could see it now, her coat glistening in an almost suggestive manner as she shook out her mane and slowly drifted back towards dry land.
That being said...What on earth was a Kelpi?
She shrugged at her own thoughts and redirected her attention to the present company.
"I'm sure that flying must be extraordinary, awe inspiring...but some of us to not have the..." She searched for the right words, not one who preferred to insult her own form and lack of certain limbs. She liked how she looked, even though she may not have wings but sometimes (like everyone) she wondered what it must be like to fly, "Well -"
She sighed.
"Some of us will never have the opportunity to experience it, whereas anyone can try to swim."

He grinned, somehow imagining the pretty unicorn floating elegantly in the water. "Someone once told me that everything is slower underwater, so its very lovely. Sort of like.. a floating sensation I suppose." He wondered if that sounded right, and he chuckled at the thought of someone ugly floating around lazily. Man, his mind was so random sometimes!
But, he glanced back at her when she brought up flying. It was obvious to him that she did not have that gift, so he almost felt bad at its mention. "I can tell you what is horrible about flying." in a humorous bout, he decided to shift the thought. "The wind damage is just AWFUL for hair, there are many days that I avoid flying completely because it is so ruthless."
If the unicorn understood hair, then she would surely know what Ariston was talking about!
"And, its really not that great. I usual fly around to show off, since I enjoy making people's eyes happy. And besides," he grinned slyly, "Everything looks just as lovely from the ground. Others make such a fuss about wings- if anything they get in the way!"
Even if Ariston did like flying, his wings drove him nuts, and he found on windy days his hair would get tangled in its sharp edges. "But, what else do you enjoy besides swimming?" He asked calmly, hoping to shift the subject matter for awhile.

"Mmm," Again she smiled a little more. She was aware of how 'proud' he was, he seemed to embody it but by the way he spoke he was far more modest than even he realised. Perhaps that was her interpretation of his manner, the way he carried himself and the way he spoke but despite all appearances - he was a gentleman.
He even went so far as to complain about flying, just because she couldn't do it! If she could have swooned without ruining her glittering pelt on the soil she may very well have done it -that being said (and it brought a wider grin to her lips), if she had swooned she expected that he might ask her if she was alright but would never lean down for fear of mussing his hair!
...It was nice hair.
"I always thought of flying as something romantic, like when the birds courted above head in spring," She confessed, her expression somewhat sheepish as she continued to listen to him speak. She was fairly certain that he enjoyed flying a little more than he was letting on.
"That being said I am fairly certain you would make any soquili's eyes very happy if you demonstrated such acrobatics in the air!" Her words were 'innocent' to a point, but it was clear that she was far from naive and she had made reference to a little more acrobatics. If he was shooting about in the air and at a reasonable enough height for the likes of her to see then...
She grinned.
Well, she could see all those muscles at work couldn't she? That and she could see just how good his stamina was.
Oho she was a shameless mare!
Releasing a giggle she shook the thoughts from her head and cleared her throat, fixing a wistful smile on to her lips. Her friends were right when they informed her that she was a compulsive flirt.
"I still think you would look just as enchanting under the water though..."

Anything romantic was not Aristons forte, so he listened with big ears, wondering what the heck she was talking about. He only nodded after she finished her statement, feeling blank at what she even said. But, luckily Sparkles continued to speak, and Ariston was saved from any more confusing thoughts that he could have flooded his brain.
"Acrobatics? I usually just like soaring I suppose.." He obviously had no idea to what she was thinking,"But I enjoy moving about in fancy ways, its good exercise too. I try to keep myself in top form, it is important for me to stay prettier then everyone else." With a silly nod, he turned his attention towards the female, who seemed caught up in her own thoughts. "But, as I said, there are always doubts to the air- storms and such scare me so!"
To Ariston, this conversation was just peaceful and enjoyable, and he remained content while fluffing his hair at every other moment. The mare wasn't talking about herself that much, and it confused Ariston, since he was very much the opposite. "I really am not sure what Unicorns do throughout the day, but I have met quite a few though and they all seemed very relaxed."
Ah, there she was again bringing up water! Maybe what Desdemona had done to him had scarred him enough, and he kept a stale face at the thought. "Sadly, it might be awhile until I approach water in that sense- but for now, it would probably be better to imagine someone like you glistening in the water."

"It depends on the unicorn," She mused at last, chuckling lightly at his reference to water again. It wasn't her place to pry, he was a stranger and something had evidently happened to scare him away from the water. While that was unfortunate there was little she could do about it. Something told her that while she may be able to rail road some stallions into trying new things, this one would prove a little more difficult...and perhaps even dangerous if pushed.
"I can only speak for myself when I speak of what I do each day," She gave a loose shrug and motioned towards the lakes (again with the water) but she made no effort to move towards them, "Some days I will swim, other days I will fish..." She hesitated and promptly took the decision to move off the topic of water.
"Other days I take walks to uncover hidden areas, socialise -" Her smile became somewhat wistful and she coiled her tail slowly around her rear hoof, compressing the fluff just a little, "It's amazing what can just appear out of nowhere to entertain you," She added after a few moments, shuffling her hooves.
"I travel a lot, so my days vary greatly until I settle for a brief time in a certain location." It seemed she could talk about herself when prompted, but when faced with another who rivalled her in appearance (particularly when male) it seemed she preferred to boost his ego. While she wouldn't explain why and this stallion appeared to be oblivious to it she usually had ulterior motives.
...She did travel a lot, she needed to take her opportunities when they appeared.
"Perhaps I will be lucky enough to see you in the skies one day, I expect it is quite the sight indeed," Once again she shifted the subject abruptly and grinned, "With bird like grace and unrivalled beauty you would dominate the skies - a streak of platinum...Almost like a ray of sun!"
"Although, would it not get cold up there?"

Ah, now she started to go on about herself!
Ariston just listened carefully, enjoying all of the little details that she spoke about. "There are so many Soquili in this land, that it is easy to be entertained." He chuckled, remembering some of his own experiences with others. "I hope I can meet your standards of entertainment in this meeting of ours." He then added, feeling proud at his smart word choice. He really was too slick for his own good.
"Ah, is there a specific reason why you enjoy traveling so much? Are you one of those 'free spirit' kinda horses?" It wasn't the first time he had meet another who loved to travel- even his own daughter was like that! "Have your travels brought you anywhere especially interesting or memorable?" For some reason, he got the idea that she was very well cultured, and knew a lot of areas and places.
And then- they were back to talking about Ariston, which in his opinion he was pleased about. "I try to make my fans happy.." he grinned, and flicked his tail up casually. "I don't know if I have conquered the grace part of flying, but I suppose we all learn different things with practice!" And luck too, in Aristons case.
"It can get dreadfully cold up there, especially in the wintertime. I rarely fly then, everything is so awful and frigid. You must not like the winter, because all of the lakes and streams are frozen then." Whoever did like winter, was weird anyhow!

"No, when you have been in the water for a while your body adjusts...I get warmer swimming beneath the surface," She confessed, though she had to admit that when coming back to the surface again she regretted ever going in. A wet coat in the middle of winter made her quiver and crave the company of a stallion far more than ever before - if only to steal all his body heat until she had dried off and was fit enough to strut about on her own again!
"Mmm, as for why I travel," She shrugged at this. She hadn't ever really figured out why she travelled so much. Well, she had in all honesty but preferred not to bestow the reason on strangers, to some it was laughable...others just showed pity and she couldn't stand either regardless of whether or not the soquili had the best intentions.
"I just like to see new places and meet new Soquili, if I did not travel I would never have met you," She pointed out with a pleasant smile on her lips though it didn't quite reach her eyes given the circumstances. "Either way I can assure you that you are keeping me entertained - even if it were a silence I would rather enjoy admiring your physique," She confessed, shaking her mane briefly so that the braids flapped gently against the itch on her neck.
"I trust my your turn of phrase that you have many admirers then, you must have the mares chasing after you daily," She teased.

"Really now? That is impressive. I wish the air would get warmer when I fly around, but the breezes can get awfully chilly. " Maybe Sparkles was just tougher then him when it came to nature, since Ariston never wanted to risk any damages to his body. "You are just a pro with this kind of stuff, aren't you?" he added playfully, while stomping a hoof on the ground.
"Who doesn't want to meet new faces." he grinned, and glanced smoothly after her comment. "Ah, likewise, I wouldn't have gotten the honor of meeting you! Its been awhile since I have met someone actually interesting, though you seem sort of mysterious to me, and I can't put my hoof on it why." Almost instantly correcting himself, he nodded quickly, "Its not that that is a bad thing, I am just interested of course."
His physique? Goodness, it had been awhile since someone had said that. "Well thank you," he first said, even if she didn't mean her phrase as a compliment, "Actually many think I am too old or too intimidating, being I am a Kalona. Also, I had children not too long ago, and one of them is uh.. quite vicious." So, that made people stare, but not approach. "Mares ask me why such a spawn came out of my genes, but I find nothing wrong with my daughter. She is quite gorgeous, despite her foul attitude. All of my children are." he snorted, and brought his fiery purple eyes on Sparkles. "Just because she has a mind of her own, doesn't make her a menace."
Ah, family troubles. Ariston found himself most concerned with his daughter, since she had gone the ways of a 'normal' Kalona. "Do you have any family, Sparkles?" he wondered, after ranting about himself."There are quite a lot of dilemmas that come out of families." he added, while shifting his front legs.
