((OOC Note: This counts as an Open RP as long as you post 3 times and get at least 500 words written. :3))Calder smiled as he set the chalk down and stared at his handiwork on the board. He wouldn't stand for those newfangled white-boards or whatever they were called these days. He'd be getting his first batch of students in today...
Riley he'd met, and obviously Taki, but the other half of his meager class of four, he had yet to meet. He had probably seen them around, but... well, he'd see.
Taki was sitting near the front of the classroom, tail and feet swinging off the edge of the chair, and his ears were pressed towards his head in a somewhat unhappy gesture. Taki hadn't wanted to come in early with his papa. He'd wanted to sleep. (After all, he could already read pretty good, and write okay...)

Antony walked in, looking quite fashionable in a dark blue silk shirt with his gold bands in place and a pair of black jeans. He looked around, searching for Manny, but she hadn't arrived just yet.
He nodded slightly, figuring she would show up soon enough and headed to the front, sitting in the front right chair and digging his notebook from his bag, along with a pen.

"I don't want to gooooo~!" Came an angry cry from down the hall. It was getting steadily louder, which suggested the unhappy individual was coming this way. Despite the dismay the voice projected, the victim was walking of her own free will. Riley trailed along behind her eldest brother, Victor, voicing her complains as loud as her lungs would allow. But otherwise she wasn't fighting him. Because no one defied Vic, no one. Not even his cute little sister. "Why can't I just stay home with Mik-" She stopped, for they had arrived outside the classroom door and Victor had come to a hault.
He put a hand on her head, ruffling her hair. He then bent his knees and crouched down so that he could talk on the same level are her. "Now, Riley, you will be good for Calder. Is that clear?" he asked, his voice as smooth, warm, and calm as ever.
Riley twisted her mouth in a frown, her brows knitted together, but she nodded her head and grumbled her agreement. She might not be able to disobey Vic, but that didn't mean she had to like doing what he said.
He smiled, ignoring his sister's obvious displeasure, "Alright. You go on in then." He pushed her through the doorway with a hand on her backpack, forcing her to join the class.

Calder watched Antony come in with a bright smile, amusement creeping into the expression at the boy's notebook. That was when the racket started outside, and Riley stepped into the room, looking very unhappy at that.
"Welcome to my class, Riley. Go ahead and find a seat. And I'm assuming that you're Antony?" he addressed at the blue-haired boy, moving around his desk to partially sit on the front part, looking down at the students (out of necessity. Being so tall made it hard to talk to a roomfull of children, after all.) and still smiling in a patronly manner. "My name is Mr. Quoile, but you can call me Mr. Q if you have trouble with my name."
Taki, likewise, had watched Antony, and eyed him until Riley's racket got the cat boy's attention, and he twisted head and ears towards the door as she came in.

Mannys Outfit
Manny had been a bit hesitant when her mother had told her about her first class, but remembering that her friends would be joining her there, she gained a little confidence. Feeling like she should make a good impression on her teacher, she had chosen a short sleeved white shirt with a rounded collar and a multi-colored argyle dress. It was simple, sweet, and it definately said something about her.
She entered the class a few minutes behind Antony and Riley, but still on time, carting a little black and white argyle backpack. She was excited, shown by the wide smile on her face, and quickly slid into a seat beside Antony. She was a little concerned with the fight going on between Riley and her brother, but if he was trying to get her to do something she didn't want to he had earned it. Well, she should probably help. "Come on Riley, you can sit next to me," she offered, patting the empty seat to her left.

Antony smiled at Mr. Quoile. "Yes, sir, I'm Antony," he told him before turning to greet Manny. He didn't seem too surprised by Riley's complaining. "I really like your outfit, Manuela," he said with a grin. "It looks good on you."

Riley looked less like she would explode when she caught sight of the familiar faces of Antony and Taki. And, before she could say anything or pick a seat as suggested she heard a voice and jumped, whirling around. It was Manny. Surrounded by her friends, she relaxed a little. At least enough to keep the anger lines out of her face, leaving her looking bemused and a little put out, but nothing more.
She flopped into the seat next to Manny with a loud sigh, before wriggling in her seat to get comfortable. Which seemed rather impossible. She didn't like sitting down much. Or staying still. This was possibly a disaster in the making. "Oi..."

Manny flushed at the comment, "Thanks Antony, you look nice too." She was a bit suprised by their teacher. He was really... Well, big. After smiling pleasantly to Riley when the girl complied she pulled out her notebook and set it on the table in front of her. This was going to be interesting.

"Okay... Well, I guess the first order of business is to find out how much you all know.... So, since this class is about reading and writing, I want to see how much you all know. I'm assuming you all know your alphabets?"
Taki slumped in the chair, gaining a raised eyebrow from Calder, but didn't take his eyes off his papa as the man spoke.

Manny nodded, "Yes sir, puedo leer a españoles también." She shifted in her seat, feeling that maybe that last part wasn't needed just yet. So the whole class was four kids, that was nice. She knew Antony and Riley, but who was that other kid? Was he Mr. Quoile's? "My mother taught me," she explained, feeling like she should shrink into her chair.

Riley didn't remove anything from her backpack. It seemed she was going to delay actual work as long as humanly possible. And her attitude was much like Taki's. Though instead of slumping about in her charge she was more...sprawled. Her feet stretched out as far as they went, one arm thrown out across the desk and the other off to the side of her chair.
While she hated school work, that didn't mean she hadn't gotten a bit of an education. Laim had saw to that. So she knew her letters, how to read a bit, and how to write some. Nothing spectacular mind you. "Yeeep."
She then blinked in surprise and rounded on her friend in fasination, "What'd you say?" She seemed curious, almost pleased. If she could be pleased at all being in school.

Manny cracked a smile at her friend's expression, "Um, I said I can read Spanish. Mama Estelle thought it was important for me to be able to." True, she didn't speak it very often, but she had to read texts a lot, and most of them were in some dialect of Cuban Spanish.

Calder beamed wider, if that was even possible. "Wonderful! How about next time we meet, everyone brings a book that they like, and read a bit for the class?"
This certainly perked Taki up, and he sat up straighter. "Any book we want?"
"Anything you want. Well... Since it's the first day, I'm just going to have that as your assignment, and let you four talk amongst yourselves for a while before it's time to go, hmm?" Calder retreated behind the desk, sitting in the big plush rolling chair (he wasn't averse to all the new office supplies they had about, after all...), to keep an eye on the four students.

"You can read Spanish?" Antony asked, a bit awed. "That's great, Manny! All I've learned how to do from my parent is a forward flick kick."
He was already mentally going over his favorite books to bring.
