So I bought a dress the other day instead of making one from scratch because I have about 2 weeks to have it done and I'm slow at sewing...

(sorry for the tiny picture, I couldn't find a picture of the dress anywhere else online)

Well, does anyone have suggestions on what to do? The dress comes about to the knee on me.

I'm going to make a petticoat to floof it up a little so it has an A line, but not like a square dancing dress (unfortunately I don't know how to make a bell shaped petti) and I was thinking of adding lace trim to the bottom hem and replacing the halter straps with thick black ribbon and turning it into a jumper.

That sounds great. I'm not sure what the back of the dress looks like but perhaps some simple corset lacing would be nice.
I would wear a blouse underneath though.

Yeah, I'm going to try to make the straps thicker so a blouse would be optional...I dunno, I might wear a blouse if it looks too plain or something. I was thinking maybe on the edge of the ribbon doing eyelet trim or something.

The back is about the same height as the front, maybe a little lower. Although, on that model the dress is a little low...when I wear it the neckline is higher. I dunno, it looks a little more modest or whatever you'd call that. razz

eyelet trim would be great on the straps.

er...
well maybe sheer black sleeves that go to the elbow.
and maybe more ribbons.
it really depends on what style your going for.
