Name: Pryderi Arthmael Malyn

Nicknames: Pry

Guardian: Tierra Malyn

Gender: male

Posts in: darkgoldenrod

Personality:

Pryderi is a very unique boy. He knows that he is different from most kids by the fact that he has small little stones that circle around him, almost like little protector spirits. He loves them, but at the same time he feels self-conscience of them. A part of him wants to simply fade into the background and be a normal boy, but there is another part of him that enjoys having something different. He gets very uncomfortable if he catches someone staring at him, rather, staring at his circling stones and will blush something fierce and try to squirm away from the person’s stare. At the same time, if some one asks him about the stones, he’ll simply say, “they’re my protectors,” and leave it at that.

Self-consciousness isn’t the only thing that makes Pry uncomfortable around people; he is also just a naturally shy boy. He doesn’t talk very much, so it can be hard for him to talk and open up to new people. Pry is simply a boy of little words and prefers to express how he’s feeling through actions or expressions, meaning his face is an open book. For example, when he’s frightened, his stones circle around him closer and he tries to hide his face, when he’s happy and carefree, the stones float at a more leisurely pace as well as in a loosed pattern. Pry has a beautiful smile that simply lights up his entire face. So while Pry may not be vocal about how he’s feeling, his actions and expressions give him away.

Despite being surrounded by protecting stones, Pryderi is still vulnerable to getting hurt by virtue of always wearing his heart on his sleeve. There is nothing dishonest about Pry and he believes that’s how others are as well. The concept of lies and deceit are foreign to him and so he is very gullible. This naiveté and innocence leaves him open to the many mean spirited people in the world who lie and cheat.

Due to his shyness and gullibility, Pryderi tends to be a follower rather than the type to take charge of a situation. In fact, he can be compared to sheep, he just likes to just go along with the flock. He can be easily manipulated into different situations, which don’t always work out in favor for Pry.

While Pry can be easily manipulated, he has a clear sense of morality. To him, there is right and wrong, black and white with only a few exceptions in the grey area. The only time he will stand up against some one is if they are asking Pry to do something that is completely against what he feels is right. Unfortunately, debate will never be his strong point, so there are ways for people to convince him that what he feels is right, isn’t.

Pryderi is also not one for loud noises and huge crowds. It tends to overwhelm and frighten him a bit. He jumps right out of his skin sometimes if something loud crashes or if something flies over his head unexpectedly. He just prefers things to be quiet and calm, much like himself. It is really hard to rile Pry up. He simply just doesn’t get angry with people, he can’t find it within himself to do so. His voice is soft, and he would rather never need to raise it past his normal soft volume, but when Pry laughs, it rings out.

Pry always feels better about himself when he is in the garden or on a beach. He loves the feel of dirt and sand and can play for hours underneath the sunshine. While he likes the beach, he doesn’t like water. He can listen to the music of waves crashing on the shore for hours, but he would rather not get wet. It is equally has hard to get him in a bath, he just prefers to have a layer of dirt around him. One of the ways that he gets so dirty is by playing in his garden so often. He loves to watch things grow, and the digging around in dirt is a plus. More often than not, Pry can be found either in the garden, or the beach near his house
.
In going along with the dislike for water and loud noises, it is safe to say that Pry absolutely abhors storms. The thunder crashes terrifyingly so, lightning flashes across the sky in an almost sinister way, and the water drenches and chills Pry right to the bone. Pry is very much like a plant, while he needs water to survive, it’s the warmth of the sun that he is always reaching for.

Quirks: He absolutely despises loud noises and bright lights, e.g, thunderstorms. He also flinches some what terribly when there is something over his head. He also tends to burrow into things.

Likes: Playing in the garden, strawberries, taking his shoes off, snuggling, smiles, dirt, the color yellow, sunny days

Dislikes: People touching his head, or throwing things over his head, basically going anywhere near his head, frowns, flying,

Abilities: more to come….

~::The Past::~

There once was a greedy feudal lord who was hated by all the townsfolk. This lord was unjust about taxes and had cruel punishments for small laws. His was corrupt and could be swayed easily with a bribe. The townsfolk constantly plotted ways of overthrowing him, but every time they tried to kill him, the evil lord thwarted them. Once the plotters had been properlyexecuted, the lord would raise taxes as punishment for allowing the plotters to attempt their plan. The townspeople soon were starving to death. After studying the lord for weeks on end, using all types of espionage, the townsfolk realized that the hated feudal lord’s Achilles’ heel was his first son, Kamen.

Kamen was brought up to be a proper nobleman. He was trained to be a perfect gentleman with impeccable manners. Despite his training, Kamen had anything but impeccable manners. He had a constant aura of dirt around him and he constantly lost random articles of clothing, (shoes especially for some odd reason). His parents tried everything to keep him clean and inside the castle to train him to become the next lord, but Kamen would always escape into the forest and play in the meadows with the various assortment of wildlife.

Kamen was a curious boy. He loved to explore all the nooks and crannies of the world around him and was amazed by all of it. He constantly asked his parents embarrassing questions in front of important guests. It was so bad that it soon got to the point where his parents preferred it when Kamen was outside when they had guests. This worked in favor for the plotters.
One day, when Kamen’s father was having dinner with a prominent lord from a neighboring kingdom, Kamen was taking a walk though town. He didn’t like town too much, but it was the fastest way to the fields where he would walk barefoot through the seas of yellow grain.

The plotters saw their opportunity to kidnap the young lord and demand a ransom for him. Their plan was after they were given the money, they were going to kill him anyways just to prove their point. Kamen was, of course, oblivious to the fact that he was being carefully watched and followed as he walked through town. It was only as he turned off of the main street that he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He turned to see five bulking men following him with a big burlap bag, rope and knifes. Then, it started to rain.

He ran as fast as his legs could carry him. The sound of thunder and the rain drowned out the men’s shouts as he ran. He ran all the way into the nearby forest. The men, who were chasing after him, soon fell behind and lost him. But that didn’t stop them from trying to track him down.
Kamen ran blindly through the forest, trying to find a safe place to hide. He could hear the men’s shouts echoing throughout the forest. The constant flashes of lightening that illuminated the sky only increased his fear. He kept running until he found a small cottage. It was old and falling apart, but at least it’s dry Kamen thought.

He went into the dingy cottage and was surprised at was he found. He had found the fabled Forest Witch. Kamen, swallowing all of his fears asked the Witch for help. He explained everything for her. The Witch remained silent the entire time, causing Kamen to feel quite uncomfortable. Then suddenly, the Witch moved from her spot from her seat by the fire limped towards a box by the window. She pulled out a necklace made from a strip of leather arrowhead shaped stone attached to it. She limped over to Kamen and put it around his neck. She croaked out the words, “It will protect you.”

Kamen stared down at it for a moment and as he was about to say thank-you, the Witch’s eyes widened and she shouted at him, “NOW RUN!”
Kamen didn’t question it. He ran out of the back door of the cottage just as the men who were chasing him burst open the door. He could barely hear the shriek of the old Witch over the crashing of thunder. He ran, just like the Witch had ordered him to. He grabbed a hold of the stone she had given him, praying that it would help him like the Witch said it would.

He lost one of his shoes in a mud pit as he ran. He could hear the men gaining on him. He turned to look how far behind him they were when he tripped over a root and tumbled down the mountainside. As he was falling, he kept thinking that he was going to die, buried underneath the rubble. He finally reached the bottom of the mountain. He just lay there for a moment, mentally checking to see if he was still alive. Amazingly, he only felt a little sore. He mentally checked to see if anything was broken. He couldn’t find any one spot that was in excruciating pain other than his hand, which he had cut on the stone the Witch had given him.

The blood poured around him, but he remained still. He could still hear the men’s voices. The men soon passed by him and their voices faded into the dark night. Kamen pushed himself up, only to realize about a ton of stone and earth was on top of him. They must have not seen me underneath all the dirt! He thought. He brushed himself off and started walking, silently wishing for shelter against the cold rain.

He kept walking until he heard a strange noise. He stopped and stared has a large metal horseless covered wagon train appeared in front of him. One of the doors to the wagon opened up to reveal a warm shelter. Kamen walked up into it, still holding onto the charm the Witch had given him and left the storm behind.

Name: Tierra Ann Malyn

Nicknames: Ti

Gender:Woman

Occupation: Freelance Photographer

Marital Status: Single

Personality:
Tierra is a very hard and dedicated worker. She will throw her entire being into her projects to make sure that everything is done perfectly and on time. This could be called perfectionism, or some kind of complex, but either way, it is very draining on Tierra. She is constantly stressed out, she will always be worrying about the what if’s and the could have beens. She runs her life on regrets and promises that she tries hard to fix and keep, but with the schedule she keeps, it can be hard. She has had several bouts of depression because of this attitude she keeps. All her friends and family have told her to slow down, but this normally goes in one ear and out the other.

She loves her work as a photographer though. It is the only time Tierra finds peace and relaxation, especially if the shoots are outside. Weddings are her favorite events to take pictures of. She just loves the festivities of the end product. It is a reflection of her true romanticism. She loves the happily ever afters and wants to find love, but has yet to find the time for it.

Tierra can be a bit of a pushover and while she may be one of the hardest workers, never gets very far in her profession due to her lack of assertiveness. She tends to fade into the background rather than jump into the front. She is a kind and caring person and loves to see the people around her happy. This may be why photography, especially weddings, was such an appeal to her. She was the person capturing the moment of happiness, rather than being the person who was happy.

While being a hard worker, Tierra is not the most organized of all people, and this might add to her stress because she’s never able to find things when and where she needs them, except for her camera. It is the only possession that she is always aware of where it is.

Dress: Tierra’s dress reflects how she feels. She always has her hair thrown up into a messy ponytail and is the most comfortable in her jeans that she’s owned for the past couple years. She wears simple button up shirts or t-shirts and her favorite pair of sneakers. For a professional shoot, she wears black pants and a nicer shirt with a jacket and possibly slightly nicer shoes, if she can find them.

History:
Nothing was ever handed to Tierra on a silver platter. She had to work for everything straight from day one. Her mother was a nurse and her father was teacher. They both had strong work ethics and wished Tierra to have the same, so they always pushed her to constantly try her hardest. Tierra had her first break down at age 16. That was the first time she had to be put on medications for depression. Her second time wouldn’t be until her freshman year at university. Tierra was an only child so her parent’s focus was constantly on her. They only wanted Tierra to succeed at life and never meant to cause her stress. It was too late for Tierra to change her habits though. She would always work until she hit her breaking point and then collapse.

Likes: Chocolate, energy drinks, weddings, bubble baths, sleep, being happy, the beach,

Dislikes: Hospitals, doctors, de-café coffee (I mean, what’s the point?), all nighters, angry bosses and commissioners, being late and being disorganized.

Fears: Another bout of depression, to never get where she wants to in life, to fail.

Hopes: To have more time, to be able to relax more and to succeed.

The Grandmother:
Alicia Malyn

Alicia is very much the overprotective mother/grandmother. She only wants the best for those that she loves, but she can come on a little strong. She is the first one to inform somebody if she feels they are looking a bit too thin or point out that they have gained a few pounds. She doesn’t mean to be rude, but she just wants to make sure everyone is all right. She needs to be the mother to everyone.

The Grandfather:
Jacob Malyn

Jacob is very much the opposite from his wife. He tends to be a bit more aloof and standoffish. He prefers to take care of security when it comes to the outside world, rather than the internal world. He is very strict and demands order. While he isn’t the largest of men, his personality makes him a very large and intimidating man.
