"Careful." Ra said as he helped the blindfolded Obie out of the car. There was a fair breeze blowing in the wind and it threatened to take the car door from him. Around them it was peaceful, just the sound of the gulls and the sea as he slammed the door shut and wrapped an arm around her waist.
He and jess had been planning this ever since B's 'accident' she deserved something fun, a break from all the stress.
"Okay, there are some steps here." he said, helping her up them and into jess's genkan. "Okay, you can take it off now." he said, grinning at Jess and Kayne who stood before a rather extravagent spread of food, a large homemade cake with wobbly iced letters in the center.

Obie swallowed a little as Ra helped her out of his car and reached for him with her good hand. Breathing in deeply the salty air, she smiled a little and allowed him to lead her carefully up the walk and steps. When they stepped out of the wind, she frowned a little in thought, then grinned as he told her she could remove the blindfold. Blinking a few times as it was lowered, her smile broadened to its brightest for the first time since her trip to see Makito and she turned to Ra.
"Thank you," she smiled and pulled him down to kiss him quickly on the lips. Stepping out of her shoes, she went to Jess and wrapped her arm around her to hug her as tight as she could. "Thank you Jess," she smiled as she pulled a little ways back.

Jess grinned as obie hugged her and squeezed her back carefully.
"What kind of a honourary sister would I be if I didn't do something for your birthday?" She said, letting her go and pointing to the cake. "I made that myself." She said with a broad smile, pointing to her masterpiece.
Ra smiled and slipped his shoes off.
"We all pitched in something." Ra said, pointing to the eclectic mix of foods, even Kayne made some stuff, though i'd be careful eating it if i were you."

Obie smiled and turned to look at the cake.
"It looks absolutely delicious Jess," she grinned and pulled out her phone so she could take a picture of it. "There we go. Now it has been immortalized," she smiled and held the picture up so Jess could see it. Glancing back at Ra, she smirked and looked up at the ginger man beside her and gave her head a bit of a shake.
"I think that might be good advice," she smirked slightly.
"Oi!" Kayne protested with a smirk at Ra's teasing and Obie's agreement. "I happen to be a very good cook thank you. Jess can attest to that as I save her from starving and the evils of fast food every day," he smirked and winked at Jess.

Jess laughed and nodded.
"Ah this is true." She said, handing everyone plates. "Now come on and dig in I want to give B her persent."
Ra laughed and nodded. he was eager to get to the present giving too.
After they had eaten he went into jess's room to get the large, moving box. He was very suprised they had managed to keep the present quiet for so long. Obviously a long walk and plenty of food had been a good move. Grinning he placed it on the floor before B and looked up at her.
"To keep you safe." He said with a smile, gesturing to the box that contained a tiny little mastiff puppy.

Obie looked up from her dessert plate as Ra walked back into the room, arching her brow dubiously at the box that was making odd scuffling noises and was shaking a bit. Reaching out, she put her plate down, and lifted the lid. Her jaw literally fell open as her eyes looked down at the most adorable furry face she had ever seen.
"Oh my god... Ra..." she managed as she looked up at him. "Truly?" she asked, glancing to Jess and then back to Ra. When the pup nearly toppled the box over, she quickly reached out to right it and slid off the seat she was sitting on so she could reach into the box comfortably to lift him up, her face immediately getting assaulted by his eager pink tongue.

Jess grinned at Obie's face as she lifted the puppy out of the box. Ra was too sweet. Seriously. Always thinking of the perfect gift he had taken an age to choose which dog would be perfect.
Ra smiled and reached out to pet the puppy.
"truely." he said with a small nod. "I thought that silly beany toy wasn't really good for much. But this guy, he'll really be able to help you out. You just need to hink of a name for him."

Obie laughed and hugged the puppy carefully.
"I love him Ra. He's so perfect," she grinned, rubbing her nose against his. Looking up at him, she shifted to give him a soft kiss. "Thank you so much love," she smiled softly and looked down at the pup again. "Goliath," she christened him with a grin, earning a bit of a yelp as the squirmy puppy wanted to get free to roam. "Go for short. Can I set him down Jess?" she asked, looking up at her friend.

Ra laughed and sat down next to obie, slipping his hand into hers as she set the puppy down at jess's agreement.
"I'm glad you like him, and go sounds perfect as he's going to be a force to be reckoned with when he's big."
Jess smirked and reached behind the sofa to produce her present. Not quite as cool as Ra's, it was heavy and book shaped. A first edition, signed of the first Harry Potter novel. She really and truely hoped b would like it.
"Here, this is from me and Kayne, well, me mostly. The ink on the card is kayne's." She said, handing it to Obie with a smirk.

Obie laughed and squeezed Ra's hand tightly as she kept a watchful eye on the curious pup who was investigating everyone's empty plates. Reaching for Jess' gift, she laughed and started to open the card.
"It true. So trying to read the card might be waste of time. My handwriting is shyte," Kayne smirked as he wrapped an arm around Jess' waist and reached his hand out to Go.
Obie laughed and rolled her eyes a little.
"If I can read Ra's handwriting, I can read yours," she smirked and winked up at Ra as she pulled the card out to read it. Setting it off to the side, she unwrapped her gift and once again, her eyes lit up.
"Jess... oh my god, you shouldn't have," she breathed, tracing her fingers lovingly over the cover. "This is spectacular," she grinned, opening the cover and smiling more as she saw the signature on it.

Jess laughed at kayne's words and leaned against him a little.
"You had better keep it away from the dog." She said, giving her a wink. "That there is probably worth more than all of our lives together." she said with a nod. "And do not ask me how I managed to get it, for my lips are sealed."
Ra smirked at B and blinked as he saw the book.
"heh, don't show it to Parisa either, she'd kill you for that." He said with a grin. "And hey, my handwriting isn't bad for someone who speaks english as their third language."

Obie laughed and rose to put the book in a very safe place, far from any food or curious pups. Walking back, she leaned down and hugged Jess tightly.
"Thank you so much," she smiled and kissed her cheek. Rising, she looked over at Kayne and made an exaggerated sigh. "I -suppose- I should thank you too," she smirked slightly and she shifted to give him a bit of a hug too. "Since you could have sprained a finger or something," she smirked and leaned down to pick Go up before returning to Ra's side.
"This is truly the best birthday," she smiled happily, scratching Go behind the ears. "I'm just sad Yuki couldn't be here. He always loved birthdays even when they weren't his," she said softly without thinking.

Jess laughed and watched b with her puppy. It really was going to be a fun evening. That was until Obsidian mentioned the Y word. A name jess had been doing rather well at forgetting, at least in public anyway.
There were times when she would take a long bath or look at a picture and cry but it wasall fruitless. None of it would bring him to her. he was better off forgotten.
"Wine time I think." she said, breathing deeply and jumping up. "Who wants some?" She asked, trying to get rid of the blur that was misting her eyes.

Obie blinked as she realized what she had said and quickly looked up at Jess with concern. She really hadn't meant to say it out loud. She knew how upset it made Jess.
"Um, none for me or Ra, Jess," she said softly with a shake of her head.
The name Obie had mentioned went completely unnoticed until Jess suddenly pulled away and offered everyone wine. Watching her, he could see the film of tears in her eyes and he felt worried at that. Who was it that Obie had mentioned that upset Jess so much?
"I'll take some love," he said, rising to his feet. "I'll go with you and we can brew some tea for these two," he said with a nod of his head in B and Ra's direction.

Jess blinked at B and stood for a few moments until thing clicked into place.
"Oh, right. Sorry." She said with a half smile as she turned to the kitchen. When Kane rose she waved a hand. she did not want him with her. He could not know. She never wanted him to know how weak she was. How she had let them all grind her down.
"I can do it myself." She said softly, continuing on to the kitchen where she stood for a few moments and rand her fingers through her hair.
