The big presents aren't for birthdays but rather an aid in their quests as a response to their contribution and activity in the guild through the use of a democratic system of nominations and voting.
Generally threads are made regarding birthdays- for example, I made a thread to celebrate my birthday some time ago. The fellow Wishing Wellers simply wish the birthday person a happy birthday- which is what you prefer. Gifts aren't a necessity even to the "important" members.. I think you mean the regulars though.
