I think that a lot of GLBT people have some internalized homophobia issues when they first discover their orientation, whether because of the way they were raised or because of the heterocentric status of society. Some get over it, and some, well, don't. But the latter usually are not involved with the queer community.

When i first started realizing who i was, if someone even mentioned a lesbian, i freaked....i was homophobic, i admit, but i got over it and accepted myself...but i think if someone is homophobic they haven't completly accepted themselves for who they really are. *Shrugs*

I dunno...I was never homophobic. sweatdrop I was always told to accept people for who they are. I think Brandon might have been a little when he was figuring things out, but obviously he's okay now. heart

I don't know if I was ever really homophobic. Mostly I just felt guilty because I'd been told all my life by my family and the church I went to that it was wrong. It was like it was okay for other people to be gay, but if I was gay, that meant I was going to hell. Doesn't make sense, but that's how I felt for a while.

(Hehe, let them gag) Aw, no gagging. You guys are so cute together whee *ish happeh for you* As to the main topic, I've never been homophobic, but I definitely know people who went through a homophobic stage when they were figuring things out for themselves. The idea of not being straight freaked them out, but as they became more comfortable with themselves, their homophobia disappeared. There are people who never truely identify themselves as queer because of their homophobia, but I don't know any personally.
