Incidentally, I saw him twice in the same day. (Once in each of my towns)
Unfortunately, I missed him with my Golden Slingshot by a hair and didn't even have a slingshot in my other town.
Well, if you shoot him down, he'll crash into a "house spot" whereupon talking to him, he will ask you to gather 5 Missing Parts to repair his ship. (They look like gears) They will be spread out throughout your town. If you return all five ship parts, he will reward you handsomely with one of the following items:
Arc de Triomphe
Chocolates
Compass
Manekin Pis
Martyoshka
Merlion
Moai Statue
Mouth of Truth
Pagoda
Plate Armor
Tower of Pisa
Tribal Mask
Metroid

I still haven't seen one D: Are they're certain times he appears? I've heard that he only appears when Booker/Copper (can't remember which) says he's been spotted. o.O

Since the UFO is random, Booker won't know anything about it. It can only appear if there are no other special visitors in your town.

I want the metroid, But so its not restricted to only night then? because I thought it was like a shooting star thing (what do those do?) and you could only see one at night.

Uhh.. doesn't that Gulliver guy come down? I've never seen the UFO, so I don't know.. just heard it from my sister. ^^;
