Saw it yesterday!
You know, in another thread at some point, we thought that Luna's patronus was the horse-like one because the trailer was a bit misleading. After the scene where Luna explained thestrals to Harry, I was thinking to myself, "Luna's patronus is a thestral! That could be why I thought it looked dragonish, but it also looked like a horse!" I was wrong. Still, I think a rabbit fits her.

Considering what a nerd I am for the details, this movie actually wasn't to bad. After each of the other movies, I've felt the need to rant and never watch it again, but this one I think I would go see again. There were only a few little mistakes that really bugged me:
*Lupin was supposed to be with them when the advanced guard went and picked up Harry from the Dursley's at the beginning. He was in the movie, so why not have him in that scene?
*The spell "Levicorpus" isn't supposed to be learned until Harry's 6th year (it's one of the spells he learns from the Prince) AND it is a nonverbal spell.
*The scene where Sirius dies...*sigh* In the book, it describes him dodging a jet of red light sent out by Bellatrix. The next line is, "The second jet of light hit him squarely on the chest." It doesn't say anything about the Avada Cadavra curse and I think they should have left the audience with the mystery of the veil to explain Sirius' death.
I haven't read OotP in 2 or 3 years, and those were just the things that jumped out at me as really annoying. But, I did like the movie overall and will probably go see it again.

I know that most of the scenes were a bit disappointing, but still the movie lived up to the standards of the book most of the time. I enjoyed the movie immensely after I ignored some of the changes from the book.

I felt the same way about this movie tat I do about the others: I hated the some of the changes that they made but I still LOVED it. Some of the things that I didnt like:
~Sirius's death was rushed ~Harry started occulmency right after he had the dream about Mr. Weasley ~Kreacher was barely in the movie ~No Quidditch ~No Dobby

Well, I didn't really expect much from the movie but it was okay. I hate how Snape's memory was so rushed. I LOVED Helena Bonham Carter[Bellatrix Lestrange] in the movie though!

I understand that it is hard to take a book with that much detail into a movie. But I have a felling that if someone who never read the book say that they would not understand what happened to Sirius. Snapes memory was a bit rushed. I can't think of anything else I had a problem with but I might go see it again tomorrow.

I must say the coloring, shots, and camera angles were gorgeous (especially the Daily Prophet ones). And Michael Goldenberg has a much better, much more positive grasp of Ron's character than Steve Kloves ever did.
I thought Imelda and Evanna were perfect. biggrin

That is one thing I really liked about this movie as compared to the others: Ron was a much less obnoxious character. Yey.

Did anyone else notice that one shot in harry's possesion where Voldemort was doing this glamour shots happy face? I completely cracked up when I saw that because it is so out of character.
I really loved Bellatrix and I thought that Lucius looked appropriately haggard and almost sickly.
Two more words. NO QUIDDITCH!!!
(that really upset me a lot.)
ooooh I lurve Luna. she was very believable....
that's all there is , there isn't any more.

Here's something I disliked: the camera movements. No kidding! All the jolting and shaking of the camera drove me up the wall. I kept screaming at the cameraman in my head (and, by extention, the director who ordered the movements), PUT THE BLINKING CAMERA ON THE CAMERA-STAND! THAT'S WHAT IT'S THERE FOR! STOP CARRYING IT; YOU'RE GOING TO MAKE THE AUDIENCE SICK! I didn't get sick, but I still hated it. I know they were trying to indicate chaos and confusion, but it made little parts a bit hard to see when the picture jolted wildly.
A point in favor of the movie: they did a good job on Umbridge. I honestly wanted to reach into the screen and punch her in the nose, just to hear a nice satisfying crack and a few screams. And if that wasn't enough, I would be perfectly happy to disconnect her jaw for her...(if I'm scaring anyone, let me know.) I can do that. I just need to find the right points to grip... twisted

It was good. I liked Tonks, Kingsly was funny, and I nearly cried when Surious died

It was fine once I stopped comparing it to the book. But... I missed the quidditch scenes, I thought Sirius' death was rushed, And I missed the Peeves salute to the twins...made it seem less important. (it's a shame he doesn't appear in the movies...) But I thought Imelda Staunton did really well as Umbridge though.
