After years of peace, the eastern lands of Verdis declare war on the neighboring kingdom of Rhanreka, quickly and effectively taking over the whole country.
In a desperate attempt for help, the prince of Rhanreka, Amari Valis, fled to the capital of the World Alliance, Orensi, and asked for aid to the war. The head of the alliance, Mardun Chrosshare, refused to lend military aid, instead sending envoys and other negotiators, attempting to stop Verdis' unnessecary assaults.
Amari then fled to Ombelle, asking for the aid of Janus Lafryte and his Ebony Brigade. Janus, the son of Amari's father's old friend, agreed to send a battalion of the Ebony Brigade in aid of Rhanreka. Amari, appearing to be happy with the news, then headed to the Port City of Raziqe to await his reinforcements.
Janus, not willing to part with 100 of his best soldiers, instead hires a mercenary girl and her squad, known as the Wolf Talon, and sends them to Razique as the "reinforcements." Amari is displeased, but says nothing, thankful he is not to return to his homeland alone.
On the way to Rhanreka, the ship carrying the Wolf Talon Mercenaries and the Prince of Rhanreka is attacked by mysterious flying demons. Most of the mercenaries are killed.
Our story starts on the deck of the SS Trident, where the remaining Wolf Talon Mercenaries stand in utter shock of their fallen comrades.

Mischief walked over to the edge and pulled out one of his swords. He was bored and had nothing to do so he swung his blade towards one of the crewmen. He didn't swing with much force, seeing how there was no reason to kill the man. As he swung his blade he yelled out"When will we be setting out on departure?" He then returned his attention back to the crewman that he was swinging his blade towards"Hey, Whats your name? Before I hurt you at least and your to upset to tell me." Mischief said weaking up on the strength he was using to cut the man. The man blocked the sword and said"Its tom." Mischief sheathed his sword and said"Your tall."he then walked around to see if this place had a pub.
