Well, here’s the thing, my brother is 19 (a little over a year older than me) and he is absolutely gorgeous (skinny, but has a nice shape) girls LOVE him. I take his opinion on appearance very strongly because I look up to him, being his little sister. Okay, lately I have been wanting to cut my hair, I mean REALLY short. The thing is, my brother told me that because I am overweight I should not get my hair cut because it will make me look bigger and "dyke"ish. My Best friend said that I shouldn't cut my hair and also my mom is telling me not to because I am overweight. I really want to cut my hair, but if it doesn't look good then it will take forever for it to grow back. What do you think? Should Big girls have short hair? Do you think it makes them look "bigger"? And should I cut my hair? (Just incase you want to know what I look like, I have a face shot in my Sig) This is what my hair would look like because it is curly~  edited, I dont have very many photos of myself, but here is one from a while back.

I say go for it. I've seen big girls with hair much shorter hair than that and it looked just fine to me.

I've got fairly short hair, not really short but like chin legnth? I've always liked it, occasionally I'd let it grow but I always like my hair fairly short smile I'd advise for going with whatever you'd really like, it reallllly won't take that long to grow back if you don't like it! If you really want to cut your hair, cut it! smile More than likley you'll find you like it, because you choose it, and if you don't at least then you can call it a mistake and let it grow out again. You'll never know how good it could be if you aren't willing to try it! smile

I don't think it looks good IMO. I got a bob and it makes me look like a balloon. I hate it.
Most big girls I've seen look terrible.

This is my hair after growing back a little after I shaved it. I think you should wear your hair short if you please, and screw what anyone else has to say. He doesn't know what it's like to be you, now does he?

I think short hair on big girls is adorable, but it tends to make us look more childlike (at least me, and any of the really cute styles I've seen). When I was a little kid I had a pixie cut, and I hated that... but since middle school the shortest I've gone is a bob that shortened in the back, I try to keep my hair at chin length to my shoulder at least, 'cause that looks best on me... although now I'm growing it out to how good it looks long.
In all honesty, some people just don't look good with short hair, though. So they'll tell you it looks bad. Some people look better with short hair, they'll tell you it looks good. And it's also a matter of finding the style in the length you want that suits your face.
I've had short hair and yeah, I look a little chubby... but then when I see photos of me later I realize it's not the hair that does it, I look chubby with long hair, too. Although I always layer at my face... and I have very thick hair which helps.
That photo of you isn't really clear enough for somebody to tell if short hair would look good on you, or to imagine a style that would look nice on you.

i never wanted my hair too short because i am overweight.
why? because i didnt want to make my face look even fatter.
i have to wear my hair all up for work so i get to see how it would look everyday, and i still tell myself that i like my hair the length it is.
i am a dyke, so dont listen to that.
we arent all bigger and we dont all have really short hair.

I forgot to mention my opinion of how long hair doesn't necessarly look that great on a lot of girls that have it.
Like, for real.
Especially the ridiculously long hair to the butt.
All these short girls have it that long or longer, and it makes them look shorter... it also causes back problems.
I have a friend who has it like that, but she refuses to cut it even though I saw a photo of her with her hair moderately long but layered and she was sooooo pretty.
But yeah, long hair doesn't necessarly look great on fat people either... I actually tend to dislike it on a lot of plus-sized women sweatdrop I think it makes them look fatter body-wise.
That is why I like short hair, I'd rather my face look a little pudgey than my whole body look bigger.
Edit: Also, from the photo of you I think shoulder-length to chin length at shortest would look cute. Although I'm leaning more twoards closer to shoulder length.

That's me. 4'11" with ridiculously long hair to my bum. 3nodding Except for the back problem thing. If I ever get back problems it would be because of my job or weight. It probably does make me look bigger too. I just never noticed and it wouldn't bother me either way. I'm just terrified of people getting close to my head with scissors. Not because I'm afraid of a bad haircut.. I don't want my head stabbed and I'm positive that will happen if I decide to get my hair cut.

My friend, I don't know if she thinks it looks good or not, I get the impression it makes her like a midevil princess or something, although princesses cared for their hair properly 'cause they had nothing better to do... and in reality because she doesn't care for it she just looks crazy (it doesn't help she has a crazy look about her in general). She has back problems and she's a bit chubby, but her hair is definately not helping the matter. If the girl cares for her hair it's much better than just letting it grow, but it's just not my cup of tea in general. I've seen a short girl or two with long hair though that I really, really liked. It's actually 'cause of one chubby girl that I'm wanting to grow my hair out as long as I can before I think it looks bad, which I'm hoping is to my waist xp
And in all fairness, since I live in Alabama the vast majority (read: all) of the girls I see with hair like that are either white trash, or else they look a bit wonky in the head... But I've seen photos of women in other places who look awesome with it.
Man, I love having my haircut, just 'cause I love having it played with. My boyfriend's grandmother is a hairstylist and I'm so jealous because he hates having his cut and can have it all the time for free, I can only have it when I go to visit him which is once a year. I wasn't going to get it cut since I was growing it out, but I did anyway because it was free and I wanted it crying

my hair is now 5/8 of an inch long all over my head.. i got sick of it.. i'm starting work at mc'donalds tuesday and i would have never been able to wear their stupid hat if i did'nt cut all my hair off either..    i have a huge zit on my chin hence the angles and the cover-up

I think your hair would look great like that!! But at the same time, all those people know you better, and probably would know better. Maybe you should go into a stylist and tell them this predicament... and ask them what they think! They know all about that kind of stuff. That's what they get paid for!!

Depends on the cut really.
You can't predict it.
I was worried about my hair cut being too short and making my face look too round and therefor fatter....
But it came out good.
It grew out since I last cut it though.
I'll post pics up around the 20th when I get it cut again.^^
