The government isn't your friend. Everyone knows that. But in this medieval setting, people know little else about their government at all.

For the past half a century, government scientists have been performing experiments. Certain sections designated by army officials as 'Team New Gen.' have been disappearing into forests, mountains, deserts, even venturing underground and underwater. They always went for one thing, and one thing only.

They called them 'Classifieds'. Creatures that were parts of myths and legends. Unreal to most of the world.

But they are only half of the experiment.

The government has also issued sanctions on how many children each family can keep. The fourth child, boy or girl, is taken by police officials - supposedly to die.

Alchemists from all over the country have been gathered at one building in particular. It is a great fortress, heavily guarded and the best kept secret in the world.

The 'Classifieds' and the stolen children were housed there, and lived together. Each child was paired with a 'Classified'. Some babies died right away, prey to the violence of the 'Classified' they were paired with. Some babies died later, prey to experiments gone wrong. The fact remained that most of the experiments died fairly early on. And even the ones that survived suffered innumerable injustices - abuse, pain, insomnia, insanity. Nightmares that kept them up for days, even weeks at a time.

But the ones that survived... were special.

The ones that survived the original pairings and the initial tests were 'molded'. Alchemists bonded child and 'Classified' together - mind and body. Now, each child has the keen ability to shift into the shape of their bonded, and the keener ability to confer with their bonded in private, telepathic speech. The 'Classifieds' were not so lucky. They simply got smaller - and shared the gift of telepathic speech. Their personalities melded - and though they might be different at first glance, personality similarities run deep within each pair. Their relationships are unmatched. Their love and adoration for each other is absolute.

The catch? Kill one, the other dies as well. Injure one, mind, soul or body, and the other feels it as well, is incapacitated the same way as well.

They were called "The First Generation".

Now "The First Generation" is much older. Many have broken from their bonds and are in hiding in the forests outskirting the fortress. They must band together if they ever hope of freeing the rest of their fellows and stopping these experiments. Because no matter the extraordinary outcome, each pair has suffered incredible hardships to get there.

Disclaimer: This RP was NOT my idea. It came from Alice_McGee. Here is the link to the original thread, which has been dead for a long time: [ X ]

First generation people are between the ages of 20-30.

On everyone's shoulder there will be a number, ranging from 1-50. There have only been fifty successful experiments, so please choose a number for your character. Make sure to check the accepted profiles to see what numbers are already taken.

Also, I won't accept mythical creatures that already taken. That just gets too confusing. There's a long list of mythical creatures I have provided, so there shouldn't be any repeats.

PLEASE! NO ANIME PICTURES!

You may choose any mythical creatures you like. For those of you who would prefer regular animals over mythical creatures, you are "The Second Generation". The government has only just begun to work on you, so let's keep 2nd Gen.ers to a minimum.

NO GUNS. Medieval setting here!

The First Generation

User Image
Gaian Name: Icarii Enchanter WolfStar
Name: Faraday
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Bonded: Chimera
Bonded Name: Axis
Bonded Gender: Male
Appearance:
Faraday is built at the height of 5'7". Her arms, abs and calves are muscular from many activities in the day. One of her eyes, as a result of her bonding, is gold, while the other is naturally green. Her long jet black hair reaches her thighs, always in a braid. She wears black slacks and knee-high leather boots. She wears a simple white shirt held down with a leather belt. Another result from her bonding is sharp teeth, with long canines. Her hands are no longer human hands, for they are clawed at the end. She always hides her hands with gloves. Under her gloves hide her most prized possessions: Wristbands her mother had fashioned for her before she was taken. The wristbands are made of scrap metal, though the silver metal material still shines brilliantly. Faraday has leathery brown bat wings sprouting from her back as well, but she doesn't bother covering them. Her skin is pale from hanging in the the experimental building. Tattooed on her arm is the lab number 003. Her body is covered in vicious scars from early fights with Axis, the worst ones being on her belly and arms. The scars gleam white and ragged.
Your Animal-ish Appearance:[ Chimera Faraday ]
As a chimera, Faraday is about the size of a large horse. Chimera Faraday weighs about seven hundred twenty pounds, most of it muscle. Her leathery wings span around twelve, thirteen feet, which is twice her length. Her side heads are draconian, not matching her lioness' head. Her lioness' eyes are gold, but her draconian heads have glowing red eyes. Fur completely covers her sleek body, excluding her leathery wings.
Bonded's Appearance:[ Axis ]
Axis is pure black; black feathers and black fur. The only relief is his red eyes and green tips on his feathers. He is about the size of Faraday, though much stronger and fiercer. The silver bands on his legs are from the alchemists; the bands grow with him. He's tried and tried, but he can't get them off.
Weapons: Clawed hands and sharp teeth and wings.
Abilities/Magic: Faraday can shape shift into any animal she has touched. However, the alchemists who bonded her to Axis have never let her come into contact with any animals for fear of her escaping, so she doesn't know of her power yet.
Faraday can also secrete poison through her sharp teeth and claws.
Axis has healing liquid in his teeth, in contrast to Faraday. He can also make himself invisible at will.
Personalities:
Faraday loves to play games because they provided a brief escape from all the pain she had been through. Faraday is a bit on the anti-social side. She is actually quite shy around others, though she disguises this with a bad attitude and mean demeanor. To prevent others from discovering, Faraday snaps angrily and tends to get into fights quite often. When angered, Faraday changes to her Chimera form and is not afraid to show her anger. The alchemists like to make her angry, because when Faraday is angry, she tends to do good in the testing. Thus, Faraday is usually in a perpetual dismal mood, snapping at others left and right. The only being that escapes her wrath is Axis, though they get into fights every so often.

Axis is usually as moody as Faraday, though there are brief spells when he'll be mellow. He is a vicious fighter, as the old scars on Faraday's body can attest for. Axis and Faraday are like opposite sides of a coin, making them closer yet farther apart at the same time. He doesn't often participate in Faraday's games, because he feels it is below him, and he can be quite lazy. Axis generally ignores people he doesn't know; he'll treat strangers with a cold indifference, unless the others are patient enough to get to be his friend.
Short Bio: Faraday was taken by the alchemists when she was only four. All her memories of her family are dim and nearly forgotten.
At five, the alchemists bonded her to Axis. At first, for the first five years, they did not get along at all. They fought often, though in hurting the other they hurt themselves. Finally, shortly after reaching ten, the alchemists tested her various times and Faraday almost died. However, Axis comforted and tended to her and from then on, they have been inseparable. From time to time they get into physical fights, ignoring the pain, but the fights never last long. They detest any moment not with the other, and they often put up a resistance to the alchemists, though they were beaten. However, Faraday and Axis kept it up until they reached the age of twenty-six. They finally escaped and are now hiding out in the dense forest surrounding the alchemist's laboratory. They keep a lookout for other bondeds who escaped.

Gaian Name:Mortal Being
Name:Elimera
Age:29
Gender:Female
Bonded: Basilisk
Bonded Name: Phailynch
Bonded Gender: Male
Appearance: Whatever situation she is in, her appearance always seems to change to adapt to it. When someone threatens her, or whenever she wishes to get her way, her body pulls out all of the girlish innocence, from sad somber eyes that could quell the harshest of angers, to the pouty lip, and to the frail body that looks ever oh so fragile. She seems like a girl who needs saving, who very heart is on the balance of breaking, and that the wrongest of words can tip the scales. Resisting is ever so hard for any man with a heart to ever yell at her, nor to ever say she is at fault. Even still when she wants something from someone, her facial complexions change, every feature seems to compliment one another, her green eyes being highlighted by her flowing red hair. Her soft delicate red lips against her almost pale face. She wears clothes like corset dresses, that make her other assets stand out as well. With a star-eyed look, and a soft whisper she can make any man do her bidding, wanting to please her every whim. This seductress of a woman stands at five feet eight inches, but can project herself to be so tiny and so fragile whenever she needs to. Although she is frail, it is never treated as a weakness to her, it is used as one of her strengths. The only thing on her that seems to almost hinder her illusion of the perfect girl, is a tattoo that is placed across her shoulder, with the numbers 005. She is often seen wearing a dark crimson sash draped around her, concealing it.
Animal-ish appearance: Elimera Basilisk form
As a Basilisk, Elimera is about the size of a small bull, and has six legs. Her claws are sharp as well as the spikes across her back, yet it is her piercing stare that is her fiercest weapon.
Bonded Appearance: Phailynch
Like Elimera in her bonded form, Phailynch is the size of a bull, yet he is much more stronger. His body is covered in more spikes, and he has an extra set of legs. He lurks in the darkness making it hard to see him, only when you hear the hissing of his tongue can one know he is there, making them look closer to see what it is, to see the glowing of his beaded eyes, which will be the last thing they will ever see
Weapons: A small knife that she received for when she ate meals, it is the same knife she used to kill the weasels, their blood is stained on it. Being a girl who uses her body to portray her self as weak or as an enticing woman, she can show no threat to anyone, so she keeps the knife out of plain sight, by having it strapped around her thigh with a leather holder.
Abilities/Magic: Instead of receiving anything that is physically altering, she received one of the greatest gifts of a basilisk. The glare and breath that makes them ever so powerful. Her eyes can kill a man if she ever chooses to look at them in such a way, however she uses her gaze along with her looks, to wither away the wills of men and women alike. With her intense concentration, not even a person who knows what she is doing can resist once they see those eyes. Another affect is her breath which can wither anything made from the Earths, and although she is still able to do that, she instead uses it as another concealed weapon against those who try to resist her. If she lays a kiss on someone, and releases her breath, she can make the person slowly wither away, a timely poison that not even she can remove.
Personalities:
There's probably no better survivalist than Elimera, with her quick thoughts and her will to put it to action, she can adapt to any situation. Some see her as a shy girl, some see her as the life of a party, perhaps she's a strong person, or perhaps weak, whatever they see her as, it is because she wants them to see her that way. In reality, she just wants what it takes to survive, and what it takes to make her happy. She usually neglects how others feels as overtime playing with people minds and souls made her a heartless person, but her bond with Phailynch keeps her stable from going too far. If it was not for him, she would probably lose her sanity and give in to power, and although sometimes she can be very cold hearted in her actions, if Phailynch gets on to her about it, she is quick to try and mend the situation. She never truly gets mad at anyone besides her other self (Phailynch), for they usually abide by her will. When it comes down to it, she will always look out for herself, but now that she has Phailynch, she treats him and her as one in the same.

Some would say the legends of basilisks would paint a picture of an evil and unruly creature, but it is not so, well at least not entirely. He detests most humans, for they seem so weak that they have to rely on swords and weapons to defend themselves and even have to try and steal the powers of myths. However once he laid eyes upon Elimera who, although seemed so weak on the outside, had such a strong inner strength, his opinions changed immediately and he made an exception of her. As time grew, he learned of the others who were bonded together to legends and mythical creatures, and saw the strong will of all of the people who lived, he knew they too deserved a chance. Those are the only people he feels that deserve to live, and once they escaped, he was the one that held Elimera from fleeing, and instead convinced her to help fight for the others who were in their shoes. He is very strong hearted about things he feels, and has a strong will for survival just like his other half (Elimera), but for those who he deems to live, he is willing to help fight for their right to do so.
Short Bio:
Elimera's pleaded with her parents, always asking them to hid her, to protect her from being taken away. Her parents gave into her cry for help, and did their very best to hide her and make her unnoticed to the government, yet as fate would have it, the government eventually found out. It was on Elimera's 7th birthday when she was plucked from her home, and although she thought she was going to face her immediate death she was brought through the woods to a fortress of an area. She thought she was safe, but as she heard the screams of children, and the moans and groans of unearthly creatures, her fear of her life returned. It was upon the rival of her designated cell that she had met Phailynch who was resting in a corner, looking at her with glaring eyes, and watering chops, she was going to become his next meal. Immediately she started pleading with the guards, throwing her best performance at them, and, for a second it worked. They hesitated, almost reconsidering, perhaps even letting her go. She saw this, but more importantly Phailynch saw this. Yet both guards knew it was against orders, and although their hearts had already been swayed to try to find a way to help her out, they had to obey their orders, and with a sorrowful "I'm sorry", they locked the cage and moved away. Elimera turned to face her soon to be executioner, and a plan developed in her brain. She shouted at the creature, yelling at it, screaming at it, wanting it to attack her. As she did this she ever so slowly braced herself next to the door, her feet ready to shove her off in the opposite direction when the beast attacked her, but Phailynch saw this too. He noticed what she was doing, she was threatening him, gambling her life that she was quick enough to get out of the way, and if he wanted to snatch her he would have to lunge himself the hardest he could, which if she was able to move out in time, he would plummet right through the door. It would spell freedom for her to take off and run, for as they both knew, there were defensive measures set up to take down the Basilisk if he ever tried to escape. Those defensive measures were weasels, for like legends had said, were basilisks mortal enemy for they were the only creature who could stare them directly back into the eye and not perish. He merely chuckled in his head as he saw for the first time, a human who was willing to do whatever it took to rescue herself, a person who had what it took to save her own hide. It warmed his heart, and instead of killing her on the spot, he actually grew attached to her, and as time grew by, she was no longer a meal, but a best friend. Once they became bonded and shared their mind link, they never quit talking to each other. Even when they are half asleep, their minds still talk, sharing stories, sharing life, and just enjoying it. They watched each others back, and on the day the basilisk picked out, they unleashed their plans for escaping. She took her eating knife, and as Phailynch rammed himself hard against the door, weasels came out, however she was the one who quickly dealt with them, and with the only thing stopping the creature from escaping, he quickly did that with Elimera right behind them. They melted through the stone walls and escaped into the forest to where they are now.

Gaian Name: ~.Forever Enchanted.~
Name: Caden Willowheart
Age: 21
Gender: Female
Bonded: Unicorn
Bonded Name: Arronen
Bonded Gender: Male
Your Appearance:
[[..-Unicorn-..]] Caden has the number 10 tattooed on her shoulder.
Bonded Appearance:
[[..-Arronen-..]]
Weapons: Teeth, Hooves and Horn
Abilities/Magic: Light and Healing
Personalities:
Caden: Caden has always been a happy and joyous person, which is why she was chosen to be bonded with the Unicorn. She was always surrounded by friends and a loving family and always had a smile on her face. Now, though...things are different. When she was kidnapped, she lost everything. Her friends, her boyfriend, her parents...and her life. She has no idea how worried they are, or what's happened to them, and that hurts her. She's become secluded and quiet, preferring to be a wallflower rather than a social butterfly. She has become friends with Arronen though, and can always be found near him.
Arronen: Arronen is almost completely opposite from Caden. He's not mean, or rude, or anything of that sort. He's just....alone. He was captured years before Caden came along, and lost everything, just as she did. He's very soft spoken, but very very wise, as most Unicorns are. The amount of hair on his tail and the length of his ears show that in human years, he is very old. His age doesn't show in his body though. For Unicorns can live for so long. He can be very stubborn at times, and somewhat cold...but Caden knows the truth. Underneath it all he cares about the good, as all Unicorns do. He'll defend Caden with his life and often treats her like his own child, who he lost in the raid for his capture.
Short Bio:
Caden: Caden was born into a loving family of a mother, father and not long before her capture, a little sister. She loved her life...but nothing really special happened until she was captured. From then on...she's a changed person.
Arronen: Their personalities may differ, but their lives are much the same. Arronen's life was very happy. He was the leader of his heard, and had a happy family. A beautiful mare to stay by his side, and a brand new Filly to call his own. He loved them dearly, as any father would, but was torn away by the forces of science and has been trapped in his cage for over four years.

Gaian Name: HollyxDolly
Name: Ethan Samuels
Age: 26
Gender: Male
Bonded: Centaur
Bonded Name: Meinery
Bonded Gender: Female
Your Appearance: Ethan stands at 5'10, tall and fit. He has blond curly locks of hair, which he sometimes wears in a ponytail, and his skin is moderately tan. He has hazel eyes and a bright smile, with a strong jaw. Ethan usually wears simple pants held up with a belt, a white or black shirt with it's sleeves rolled up, and leather boots. He has the number 028 on his right shoulder.
Ethan's bonded form is simply himself; his bare, upper body connected to the body of a brown horse. The only difference is that his eyes are completely black and his ears are large and pointed, the two other viewable characteristics gained from Meinery.
Bonded Appearance: Meinery
Waist up, Meinery is fair-skinned and fit as a horse (cough). She has long, golden hair that shines like the sun and eyes blacker than the night. Her face is elfish and different, but still holds a great amount of beauty. She wears a copper colored band in her hair, and usually has a small white wrap to cover her chest area. She too, has a brilliant smile that gleams white. Her ears are large and pointed. She also wears a brown arm brace that matches with the Sporran around her waist and the ankle braces on her hooves. Waist down, Meinery has the body of a brown horse with a tail the same color as her golden hair. Her horse-like body is just as fit as her upper-body
Weapons: An intricately carved wooden bow and arrows.
Abilities/Magic: Extraordinarily strong and quick.
Personalities:
Ethan: Ethan is a happy fellow. He loves to smile and is quite innocent for his age. He's very soft spoken, and his voice is quiet and sincere. He can be very determined, but he's also foolish sometimes, still a little naive. He is pretty smart, having learned alot from Meinery. He hardly leaves her side, both feeling that they are loyal to protecting each other.
Meinery: Meinery is just as quiet as Ethan, and she rarely talks to anyone but him. She's kind-hearted and courageous, quickly helping anyone in need. She loves the outdoors, and the forests are her natural habitat, but in the lab she is limited to spending time outside. Soft and sincere are two words to describe her well, but she can be brutal and swift in battle. She's not one to trust anybody easily, and she's very protective over Ethan.
Short Bio: Ethan was taken when he was very young, young enough so that he didn't remember anything about his family or origin. When he was paired with Meinery, he was very lucky that she was one of the kinder-hearted creatures. He watched in horror as the other kids were tortured and destroyed by their bonded, almost attatched to Meinery for protection, and she gave it to him. They became the greatest of friends; looking out for each other, bonding and learning together. They took on the expriments with courage, getting by the torture with the hopeful thought that they'd escape someday. They had mapped out a plan, waiting for the time to go through with it. That time would come very, very soon.

Gaian Name: AtavisticDevilry
Name: Madoc
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Bonded: Angel
Bonded Name: Ruad
Bonded Gender: Male
Your Appearance: Madoc's silky hair is quite blond and cut to about chin length. It's a little bit scraggly as it's not the most even of cuts and it tends to be a little flyaway, but Madoc likes it short. He might have it even shorter if not for the fact that he feels the need to cover the left half of his face due to the strange tattoo he has there - Ruad's work and perhaps Madoc's most treasured, most hated possession. As such, Madoc's hair is almost always over his left eye, or at least it is when people are around.
Madoc's fairly delicately boned and definitely more than a little feminine, and his build reflects this. He's a bit curvy for a guy, and definitely a little too pretty. Madoc doesn't have a lot of muscle either, which only enhances his somewhat girly appearance. His eyes are a deep, piercing grey and his skin is pale and smooth to the touch. The only place it's not smooth is on his back, right where his shoulder blades are. There, he has two circular puncture wounds, still raw even after all this time, with a white feather hanging out of each. He definitely looks a little less than his 21 years, but he's more than capable.
Usually, Madoc wears a simple, loose black tunic (easy to remove) with black britches underneath. On his feet he wears lace-up sandals, but not really anything more, even in the cold. Weather and temperature don't touch him much anymore...
The number 001 is tattooed into his upper arm.
Your Appearance (bonded form) Madoc looks much the same in his bonded form, with the same blond hair, the same complexion and the same grey eyes. Everything is just more when he's in his bonded form. His hair isn't just blond, it's like spun gold. His eyes are so grey they seem to glow with it, and his skin is like silk to the touch. And then there are, of course, the wings. Madoc's are large and white with a kind of silvery sheen. They make wearing a shirt rather impossible, so Madoc removes his tunic before taking on this form of his. All in all, Madoc ends up supernaturally attractive in his bonded form.
Bonded Appearance:
Ruad is feminine, and his build reflects that. He doesn't appear to be very muscular, but is in fact much, much stronger than he looks. Ruad's large wings are a pure white all the way through, though they have an opalescent sheen to them that makes them quite mesmerizing, especially in the right light. They're not always visible as he can use glamour to hide them. An aura of warmth and light surrounds him, too, no matter his mood.
Usually, Ruad only wears a pair of loose white pants. Shirts are a hassle to get on and off, and he's immune to the changes in temperature anyway. He goes barefoot, and the only other thing he wears is a golden choker with a small cross hanging from it.
Weapons: Madoc carries a dagger, but that's about all he has on him. If he got his hands on a bow, he'd be pretty well off as he's an excellent shot.
Abilities/Magic: Madoc is much, much stronger than he looks for starters. His senses are hyper-enhanced, which allows him an uncanny feel for his surroundings. His angelic nature also allows him to be very in-tune with the natural world, and he will never be attacked by a wild animal. Nature won't turn against him. In addition, he can heal most wounds and sing "like an angel". His touch harms evil beings as well. The one catch in all of this? Madoc can do no harm, as much as he might want to. He can begin a punch, try to fire an arrow, try to stab somebody... But in the end, none of it works. He'll freeze up before letting go of the string, purposefully redirect his movement... The only thing he can still hit is Ruad.
Personalities: Madoc: Madoc is incredibly frustrated with his angelic hybridization. He hates that he looks so feminine, hates that he can't hurt anything not made of evil and hates Ruad for that stupid tattoo. He really can be a bit of an a*****e because of all that, too. He often lashes out and definitely has some anger management issues. Madoc is definitely moody, and often seeks to be alone rather than with others - especially Ruad, the irony of which is that he can't get more than about half a mile from his Bonded. He just freezes up if he gets too far out, blacking out if he continues to press onwards.

The angry, sad demeanor Madoc wears isn't the only thing there, though it might be the only thing he'll readily show. In truth, Madoc is terrified and ashamed, because he's head over heels for Ruad. Homosexuality is considered a sin, and Madoc hates himself for his feelings. Himself, and Ruad for causing them. He secretly blames his angelic side for his feelings, and wishes he could just have never been born because that would be preferable to always wanting to be with Ruad and never being able to allow himself to. At least, that's how Madoc sees it.

Ruad: Ruad is about as much of a mess as his human counterpart. He's pissed off because he's been pulled down from heaven and trapped here on Earth. He's still very young for an angel, too, so he's not entirely calm and collected yet. That's probably why he was caught - his youth, his inexperience and his brashness. Ruad is definitely talkative and in-your-face. Not that he can hurt anyone who isn't really evil, but that doesn't stop him from snapping at people due to his own frustration. And why is Ruad so frustrated? Well, partially it's because of Madoc's frustration and feelings, both of which have bled over into Ruad. More than that, though, Ruad is angry with Madoc and with the alchemists who stole him from his home. With Madoc for being so stubborn and unfriendly and with the alchemists for pairing them together. Ruad would like nothing more than to be close to Madoc. To make Madoc his lover. But of course, every attempt he makes to even befriend the human is met with hostility. Ruad ends up confused and furious, usually, and the fights the two get in are often pretty vicious. Neither party ever learns either, no matter how much they both ache afterwards from the physical and mental blows.
Short Bio: Madoc was taken from his parents before he even turned two. He has no memory of them, or of his older siblings. They had no place in his life.

The alchemists bound him to Ruad early, driving two of Ruad's pinions into his back at the shoulder blades for starters. The binding just went downhill from there. It was a very painful process in and of itself, and it went on for several years before Ruad and Madoc were a firm pair. The alchemists even went a little overboard with the two due to the difficulties they had had with making it work at all. As such, Madoc hasn't been more than half a mile from Ruad since he was 7. Madoc only wishes he could be farther, because he has loved Ruad since then as well - perhaps another result of the extra-tight bonding the alchemists accidentally created.

The experiments the alchemists preformed were a welcome relief to Madoc, who was more than happy for the distraction, and occasionally the opportunity to get in a sanctioned fight with Ruad. It was just a release, a relief... And never would Madoc admit that he might just like fighting because it meant he got to touch the angel he so loved.

Not that the experiments and such didn't grate and harm. Whenever Madoc was pitted against anyone else, all it was was a beating - he could never retaliate. That turned out to be one of their favourite things to try - to see if they could force him to hurt someone. They never could. And his bond with Ruad was an infinitely maddening thing. Madoc could always see into his partner's head, and it was such a tantalizing activity. It felt so nice to just drift in Ruad's thoughts, to be one with him, that Madoc forced himself to eschew all forms of telepathic communication as much as he possibly could.

The tattoo Ruad forced onto Madoc was the result of a fit of frustration on both of their parts. Madoc and Ruad had gotten into a huge fight because Ruad had made the mistake of trying to get close to Madoc. Madoc had called Ruad and animal at the end and stormed out, leaving Ruad with a heart full of anger and a black eye. That night, when Madoc fell asleep, Ruad just drifted in and gave him some stripes, permanently. He left a note on the bed that read "At least I don't look like one", then left. Things haven't really improved between the two since.

Their escape was entirely the fault of Ruad. Sick of the alchemists and sick of their sterilized, horrible surroundings, he literally punched through a wall one night to get to Madoc's "room". It was more like a cell, but Ruad beat his way through the wall there too. He then walked in, picked Madoc up (protests or not) and flew into the wilderness surrounding them. Ruad knew life would probably be harder now, seeing how well he and Madoc got along, but leaving without the human wasn't an option. And Ruad would rather take his chances out there than in the facility. Besides, maybe he and Madoc could finally find a way to get along...

Gaian Name: Romeo for Tay
Name: Ophelia
Age: 27
Gender: Female
Bonded: Dragon
Bonded Name: Enero
Bonded Gender: Female
Appearance: Ophelia is a strong, lean and tall figure. Although she may appear thin, her body weighs a bit more than normal for her size, because of all the muscle she has. It is a contrast from Enero, where her shoulder, lower back, abdominal and thighs are the strongest. She reaches a tall height of 5'7" for a woman her age, with a long torso and long legs. One of her eyes are green, in a normal human shaped form, but the left one is that of a golden dragon's. It is a sliver, just like Enero's, another part of their contrast. Ophelia's hair is a dark blonde, wavy and somewhat tangled, but very thin. It's about shoulder height, so she'll tie it back in two stubs of hair, leaving whatever short lairs out over her fair colored face. As for clothing, she's not much for fashion, but wears a pinkish tank top that laces up the front over a regular white shirt. For bottoms, a simple pair of ripped-at-the knee jeans that are not belled bottom, tightening around her ankles. Ophelia has a pair of converse-like shoes that are gray with pink lace, and to finish it up for accessories, she wears a lot of bracelets, a beaded necklace and a belt. This outfit is very movable in, and Ophelia likes to feel that way so she can be leisure whenever she wants, or tense into fighting. The number '012' is imprinted on her stomach.
Animal-ish Appearance: A small dragon. Nothing compared to the large and fierce Enero. With a bony, spindly back, she is about the size of a large dog, shades of brown, orange and yellows, even maroon. Two small horns connect a fin at the back of her head, and small spikes run down the spine and tail. Her tail is two sharp razors, one small and on big, to look like a narrow lunar-crevasse.
Bonded Appearance: Enero is a large creature, but not enormous. About the size of an elephant, you could say. He is a snarling, razor-like dragon, with thin wings and rough scales. He has two larger horns atop his head, and unlike Ophelia's form, his tail can seperate into three razors that can act as very large and death-blowing scissors. His teeth are large and sharp, his eyes golden with slivers, and talons as black and cruel as night. His scales are mixed colors between dark blues, scarletts, yellows and emerald greens. For a dragon, his body is thin looking instead of large, the muscle very visible under his scales.
Weapons: She uses her claws, tail, and teeth when a dragon. If human, she has a strong body, so she can lay some knock-out blows if she wanted to.
Abilities/Magic: Enero has the ability to breath fire, for within him is a fire lung that allows him to do so. In contrast to that, Ophelia was gifted with a little thing called 'flare' where she can manipulate the strength and will of fire. It is a wonderful thing used for both of them, for she can control his fire and direct it wherever she pleases. She wasn't granted with much else, being a simple creature, but she has discovered that she can form up fire herself, with magic. She hasn't mastered it fully, and won't for a long time, but it's there. In her bonded form, she can muster up much more flames that in her human.
Personalities: Ophelia is a rebel; nothing like a saint. She has the temper and anger problems of the fire within her, and is not afraid to speak her mind. Very outspoken and outgoing, she stays on task, refuses to be beaten, and gets the job done, whatever it may be; could be something she wants to do or has to do. Little things annoy her, like too many questions and such, which is actually a terrible but major quality to Enero's personality. But, all and all, she is true to the heart, believes in what's right, and has a knack for lying to get out of things. A bit of a smart-a** as well, if you would. Gets her into a lot of trouble when she doesn't need it.

As for Enero, he shares many of the same qualities at Ophelia, but is much worse. The dragon does think, he does act, and does do it well, but when angered it could be a blind rage of destruction and fire. Since he is always on edge, it seems, Ophelia can get very edgy, but odd enough, the two won't fight with each other; as if talking to one another doesn't cause such destruction. Enero loves the girl with all his heart, and would do anything for her, whether angered or not. He never looks at the bright side, but goes for it anyway. His mind and heart is just one bundle of mistake in his eyes. But he and Ophelia do the best for each other, and when the two are calmed down, he has a wonderful, if sometimes rude, behavior and humour of sarcasm.
Short Bio: Ophelia was taken by the government when she was a baby. They had found out first hand, and ripped her away from he mother's arms. She grew up with the government testing and experimenting on her; it had driven her mad sometimes. They thought that the only thing for curing her would be to lock her up in solitude, but that only made it all worse. Of course she is very grateful to have Enero, and would give up nothing to let them have him as he would her, but growing up in such a place has caused her to be somewhat people- and closed-in-area afraid. She hates being confined. When she was eleven years old, the government declared her as a final try for their experiment, and had been a success. With Enero, the girl was driven from her insanity, and for many years spoke to him and him only through the mind. But, sadly enough, the alchemists forced her and Enero through more and more experiments. Unlike others who had to fight each other, or be tested on their magical abilities, these two were forced to be away from each other for days, even weeks, at a time, to see what would happen to them. It drove Ophelia insane almost, and Enero' became an angry dragon, which was probably why the way he was. For years they did this, which is why the two treasure their time together so much. It was only when they tried to seperate them again, earlier in the year, that they fought back and escaped. With Enero as angry and large as he was, it was somewhat easy. For now, they hide nearby, not wanting to be caught.

Two chimeras walked side by side. Though they had nothing in common, anyone could tell that they shared a bond. Little would most people know, the chimeras took bonded onto a whole new level.
The first chimera had a lioness's head in the center, with two other slightly demonic heads flocking it. Her skin was leathery and brown, and her wings were much like a bat's. A long alligator tail swept after her.
The second chimera had a lion's head with a dragon and griphon head to either sides of it. It had more fur than the she-chimera, and its fur was jet black. He had long eagle wings; the feathers were also jet black but with dark green tips. In relief to his black fur, he had baleful, glowing red eyes. His tail, unlike the she-chimera's, was that of a lion.
The two looked at each other, communicating telepathically. They were not far from the lab, though far enough not to be seen by the guards on patrol. The she-chimera morphed to her natural form of a human.
She spoke.
"Axis. We have to get away from here."
"Faraday," Axis replied, "I told you that someone else has broken free. I don't quite know who, but they may need help."
Crossing her arms, Faraday blew her black bangs out of her face.
"When did you even start caring?" she taunted.
"Right about when you stopped," was the reply.
Although the two argued a bit, they loved each other deeper than most lovers loved each other, and they knew it.
Faraday stretched her leathery wings behind her, disturbing her long black braid. She scratched at her face with her gloved talons, and surveyed the area with her gold and green eyes.
"Are you sure we're in the right place?"
Axis rolled his red eyes.
"More sure than you'll ever be."
Faraday twisted her mouth and didn't respond. Instead, she jumped up onto a low-hanging tree branch and crouched there, while Axis scaled the tree and hung next to her.
They waited.

Step into the dreams of Tomorrow...

Deep within the forest by the lab, two others also searched, but they searched for a way out, instead. They, in fact, were the two who had escaped.

One as human, the other as unicorn, the two walked with caution. The female's honey gold hair flowed behind her as her two eyes, one yellow, one deep sapphire blue, watched the woods carefully. She was of average height, but slender and walked with silent steps. Her heart raced as she thought of the consequences of their escape. But they were interrupted.

The unicorn looked over at her, speaking to her mind, but without words. He merely transferred his thoughts to her, and those thoughts were soothing. His ears, both nearly twelve inches long, twitched with caution. Even when walking on stones his crystal hooves were silent. There was no sound coming from the swish of his tail. That was the way of the unicorn: gentle silence.

"Arronen...what if we're caught? It will be the death of both of us."

"I know, dear one, but we won't get caught. The silence of the unicorn is a gift to be treasured. It is the only thing that got us out without notice, and it will be what keeps us alive. Now turn this way." He pointed his spiraling horn to the west. "We will be sure to find a hidden place for rest deeper in."

Caden followed obediently, looking down at her smooth hands. They had been wandering the woods for almost a day now, but her skin was perfectly clean. Her nails were not chipped or scratched, her hair was still as smooth and shining as the moment she washed it. A question arose in her mind.

"Arronen, why are we still so clean?"

Arronen sighed. He did not feel like talking much, even through just mind link. But seeing as Caden was like a daughter to him, he answered. "Caden. You forget you are bonded with a unicorn. We are the mythical creatures of purity. Though we are not as vain as some may think, we do not dirty as easily. Do you know nothing of us at all?"

"I was never really into myths." She sighed then, and stopped conversing. Arronen did not need distraction. He knew his way around, but interruptions were never helpful.

...and Enter the World of the Past
PostPosted: Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:25 am

Blushing of dawn had already ceased and passed, as a girl of young age sat against the grass. Curling loose strands of rustic red hair, without much of a care. Except for one or two, of that of hunger within her stomach and exhaustion. Both caused by her daunting escape, even though it took place a bit ago, her body still wanted to linger within the fields of grass and trees. Nature spoke of beauty, and seemed to compliment against her vibrant lush colors of red, making her the sight of the forest. All attention could be drawn to her, which drew away from the shadows, shadows that lurked of things that no lips should ever mutter... a basilisk.

Indeed its glowing radiant eyes pierced through the forest, looking, hunting... for prey. Its jaw sweat with drool as it came across a fawn, Hiss, the fawns gaze turned, looking for the noise. A venomous snake? No? A demon? Perhaps... Danger? Yes... and as the doe looked within the shadow, seeing those dead eyes, its mind started to wilt, started to clinch, sink with fear and agony...and... death.

Gentle winds came across Elemera as she closed her eyes, hearing Fay shout in a huzzah, a smirk spread across her face. Death was a circle of life, one must eat in order to survive, and being within this forest for a couple of weeks she learned how much one must make use of what was around them. Of course one should never take too much, for they must replenish for the times of years beyond. She did not mind this, for as a human her stomach was small, and so whatever Fay decided to 'fawn' her with, she would eat happily and be content.

Trickling cracks of grass and twig alike toppled and buckled under the girth of a dark creature. Putrid smells of its presence lingered well before its sight, and was the first thing that alarmed Elemera. Well alarmed would be too sharp of a word to use, for she knew all too well that there was no danger coming from the depths of the forest. Even if there was, she could easily fend herself when she changed to her bonded form. So as the smell became stronger, she simply turned her head at the source of the smell.

Eye to eye, Elemera stood with the looming creature, the smirk stayed on her face as she saw Fay had brought forth a doe.
"Thy beast's lair can fetch quite a fancy meal," her tender tongue licked across her lips as she eyed the creature, "I do hope that thou hast brought some to favor mine perishing stomach." Her words teased and coyed the king of serpents, for his ears found favor with words, and so she used it to her advantage whenever she wanted something.

Through their bonding, Elemera and Phialynch had become quite well, bonded, and although their relations where strictly agape, they still flirted as well as picked on each other, and this was no exception. Within her mind she felt him speak to her with a coy and gentle voice,
"Well, milady, if thee wish to feast upon thine flesh, all thee would have to do is but merely ask," a grin, more of flashing teeth than anything else, "I can satisfy more than just thou stomach."

A soft hearted chuckle came from her, she loved his witty humor, but her stomach could not really wait any longer, its calls of fulfillment were already well apparent, "Well, that is quite kind of you, but it seems my eyes have sight of something else that can fulfill me much more so." Her words were not calloused, but she could tell Phialynch wenched even so, within her mind. Another laugh escaped her mouth, but this one was more of a little giggle.

"Well if that be the case, then as a gentleman," if he was a man he would be by far the least to be called a gentleman, a man who slay the hearts of beautiful quite literally, "I must fight for my honor, so!" He moved closer to her, his thick dark green body moved out of the darkness, showing its might "Prepare thyself!"

Her body started to change, quite quickly into her bonded form, yet even though it was actually necessary for her to do so anyways since her human form could not eat raw meat, she still projected her objection into his mind, "Fay, why do we have to do this every time?" Her tongue lost the eloquent words, perhaps because of the drool, as she continued to think to him, "When we escaped, I thought we would go back home and finally be able to eat food of quality, and not just lounge around the forest forever." Truth be told, they had indeed escaped quite a bit ago, a few week actually, and like any good facility of secrecy, no words escaped about their 'release'.

"You know you enjoy a good fight," actually although she would not admit it she did, just not when she was hungry, so as a good stubborn (basilisk) girl she gave a growling grunt as he continued on. "As for food, I happen to think fawns are amazing meals." A single sigh indistinguishable between the two, "Of course the reason we're still here is not because of food, I know others are in there, and just like me I know you would want them out as well." Before she could voice an objection he tried to sway her with his thoughts, as he did almost everyday she brought up her argument. Somehow it seemed to become almost orchestrated redundancy, yet he still managed to keep a vibrant girth to his voice, "After all would you not want some more 'friends' whom you could have as equals, those whose souls not mend so easily by force? We all enjoy a good challenge and banter now and then instead of sycophants, do we not? If I did not, you would not be alive for I would of devoured you like all the others, and now look at us, we're quite a pair. So trust me on this, it will be well worth it."

Philaynch had indeed spoke words of wisdom, but perhaps why he had to repeat himself so many times to her was probably due to the fact her eyes fixated on the captured prey and merely just droned his words out to 'blah blah blah blah', and by the same routine Philaynch had fallen into, she responded in kind, "I suppose you're right, but for now, hand over the spoils, before I make you."

His eyes fluttered with... happiness? A basilisk happy? Perhaps, for these were the challenges he spoke of, "Well it looks like you're going to have to make me."

Growls echoed within the forest, fearsome growls, that could push even the strongest of men to take a different course. Clouds even covered the sky's eye, holding the battle and the victor in secrecy for another time....

She could remember, in those white halls in grasps of such men, a creature standing before her, growling, snarling, sleeping, calm--- emotions that, along with it, followed through her. It was so... different, such an odd feeling of bond to that terrible being. It was a monster, one that children brought to the place after years in their life had read about in stories. For such a thing to be real; they could only gasp, but... Ophelia... she never understood it. At times, she'd be forced to spend time with the creature, and then ripped away. It started to become unbearable, and she could hear the crying in his head, the angst in his voice, and soon such feelings turned to love.

A young woman turned over in her sleep, moaning and cringing on the forest floor. She seemed to be having a bad enough dream, or something going on through her head, as her hand started to protrude rough scales, claws that grinds the grass and moss.

They ripped her away, over and over again, as she fought and fought to regain feeling to the beloved one, her beloved one. They strained the creature back, they muzzled him and secluded him all alone. Why would they do that? The only thing they could not stop was their mind-speaking companionship, but it was never the same, always tormenting to hear his voice, yet not be by him. She wanted to block him out, but she wanted to hold his head to her chest, feeling his flame-tinged breathing across her body. Did these people enjoy doing this to her?

She could stand it no more, and obviously, her bonded could not either. A large, broad, and scaled creature stood to his four legs, a horned dragon with various colours running down his body. He could be seen as about the size of an elephant; such size wa snot suitable for such crammed spaces within the forest, and already being uncomfortable, Ophelia made it no better. Their feelings shared, their minds almost one, their qualities similar; now why did she have to go and do something like that?

It was as if her dream of the past was real, the visions growing fuzzy, an edge trying to claim her thoughts and rip her away from horror. She could see the scientists fading away with shocked expressions, could feel him growing closer, his soot-smelled mouth ever-so near. And then---

That was when she shot up, knocking her head with the dragon nose that breathed over her once sleeping body and about to nudge her shoulder. The dragon snarled, putting his clawed forefoot on his nose, snorted and hissing as his tail thumped back and forth between two trees. One of the worst thing to do to get a dragon's sinuses working up against him: hit his nose. Still half-asleep, Ophelia jumped up, staggered for a moment, putting her hands forward as she tried to steady the dragon. "Easy, Enero. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Really!" she flushed as anger flowed through her, directed towards her and towards the forest around him and her sleeping. She grit her teeth angrily, wondering why he always had to get so angry about accidents, but as he began snorting even more, and almost sneezing, she could tell it was just really bugging him.

She stood there, waiting for the dragon patiently as his fit began to subside. She tried to keep a calm air, which just might help the dragon in any way possible. And it did, as he finally snorted one last time, looking at Ophelia with a less menacing look. "I'm sorry, dear one." Ophelia grinned, reaching forth and grabbing the dragon's head in her arms, until she started patting the top of his head annoyingly. He snorted this time out of her foolishness.

"You know I'll always forgive you. But seriously, you'd think the scientists would've improved your sinus problems or something. Gets annoying hearing you snort all the time." She couldn't help but laugh at herself as she let go of the dragon, he pulling away somewhat quickly at her comment. Ophelia stretched her arms high above her head, yawning all the while from such a sudden wake up call. She met Enero's eyes once more, the golden features watching her with curiosity. She already knew what he wanted. "Ready, then?" As if on cue, her body began to change, to grow, and shrink in its bonded appearance. The very features that had been granted to her by Enero's own body and through the minds of men and women. To her, it was beautiful, and odd in the same way. But with Enero, for now, without being ripped apart, they would always be together, and she could have nothing more, ever. To some she would be a monster. But who cared.

Taking her place was a much smaller, minor dragon, one who snapped at Enero's much larger shoulders playfully at the size somewhat around a cow. And, as the larger dragon opened his large, membrane wings, Ophelia did as well, launching into the air from the small clearing for Enero to have enough room to do the same. And quick enough, she could hear the strong beats of his wings trail after as they began a morning hunt.

As they hid in the tree, Faraday's mind began to drift to thoughts of home. In her mind, she could see her mother's hands, reaching out to her. To her shame, all Faraday could remember of her mother was her soft, gentle hands. Those hands soothed her, punished her and caressed her. Faraday's mismatched eyes began to cloud over as despair and misery started to overwhelm her.

Alarmed, Axis glanced over at her with his red eyes. He noticed her thoughts and inwardly frowned, torn between compassion and anger. As a chimera, he had no past; chimeras cannot be born, only created. Whenever Faraday had flashbacks, Axis would be seized by envy and anger, though he knew Faraday would never leave him for anyone or anything.

Noticing Axis' thoughts and stare, Faraday abruptly wiped her bare arm across her eyes.

"You know I hate it when you do that, Axis," Faraday snapped. "Don't stare at me."

Axis' lips lifted into a silent snarl but he looked away all the same. Faraday glared at him as she dropped to the ground, wings open to soften her landing. After a moment, Axis dropped to the ground as well, soundless. Faraday's wings rustled dryly in her irritation, disturbing her long black braid.

"Why are you so angry?" Faraday finally snapped, whirling around to face Axis. He, in turn, turned away from her. His black lips twisted, but he did not answer.

"You know, Axis," she continued in a softer tone, though no less angry, "I can't help it. Why can't you accept that?" Still no answer. Snarling, Faraday continued. "Axis, I love you more than anyone else in the world, but why do you infuriate me so?"

Instead of answering her question, Axis said,

"Don't shout. We're close to the fortress, and the alchemists might overhear us. We--" He abruptly stopped, lion's ears pricked up as he listened.

"What--" A glare from Axis stopped Faraday's question. She folded her arms in a huff, barely restraining herself from attacking Axis in chimera form.

There's some one out there, Faraday.

What is it? Faraday was instantly wary, silently and quickly shifting into her chimera's form.

Axis didn't answer, merely spreading his wings and lifting into the air, turning invisible all in one fluid movement. Faraday cursed silently, wishing she was able to follow. However, the alchemists forgot to give her the gift of invisibility as well.

Axis soared into the sky, floating on a thermal. His quick, invisible red eyes scanned the trees for the source of the wingbeats. His ears strained forward, trying to hear the faintest heartbeat, if anything.

Soon enough, a pair of dragons rose from the trees, one much larger than the other. Fear formed a knot inside of Axis' stomach as he relayed the images of the dragons to Faraday.

Were they free bondeds? Or were they slaves for the alchemists, bent on finding any escapees?

Well, Faraday?

Faraday, all anger pushed aside for a later moment, bit her lip in worry.

I... I don't know...

Axis rolled his invisible eyes. Well, there was only one thing to do. Closing his wings and wrapping them around his body, Axis pulled into a steep dive, heading right for the trees. Just before the treetops, his wings snapped open and prevented him from crashing through.

Axis approached the dragons, shimmering into visibility and back to invisibility again, letting them catch small glimpses of him.

I hope you know what you're doing.... Faraday cautioned him.

the air felt so free compared to the cramped forest. Down below, trees would brush against their hides, branches, bushes, and roots always snagging on scales and making the both of them irritated. But up in here, feet in the air where no alchemists were bound to follow, the wind was through their body's, a counterpart ally with their wings. It was a wonderful feeling as Ophelia and Enero dived and stretched their bodies from a long night's sleep, the minor girl dancing and flipping around the graceful Enero. It was like this every morning, and she wished more than anything she could do it forever, stay like this away forever, high in the sky in her form with her bonded beside her. There were any alchemists, there wasn't anything that could separate them.

Well, except hunger. It was Ophelia's turn to snort, as she dived around Enero once again, snapping her wings open before going too far down, hearing the gurgling roar in his stomach. She could sense his embarrassment, but embarrassment was something pushed aside, making room for the comfort the skies brought him. That actually made Ophelia much happier, knowing Enero enjoyed it just as much as she did-- making the bigger dragon, for once, calm and enjoyable. But all of that changed when his head jerked to the side, catching the glimpse of something flickering low above the trees.

Ophelia. Was his mere thought as she just finished with another flip in her lean and maneuvering form. The two of them couldn't speak in their bonded forms; or, at least the girl couldn't. Enero could speak otherwise, but it was easier with the mind anyway. Catching her attention, she stopped, following in slow, paceful wing beats as he managed to make her look at the figure slowly approaching them, it blinking out into invisibility every few seconds. Her heart dropped at what she saw; had the alchemists' come up with a flying creature to come after them? She could sense the same thoughts going through Enero, and he became angry at such a creature that would even dare to pollute the skies.

Enero stopped in his gliding, letting his legs and claws dangle in the air as his wing beats surged harder and harder to stay in place. Ophelia went no further, but didn't stop; instead, she circled around him, slowly and eerily, as they waited for the creature to come closer. Enero wasn't sure what he was going to do, knowing the flames from his mouth could spark any moment. But, what if it really wasn't a creature sent by the alchemists? What if it was another bonded? Enero knew of them, of course, and had told Ophelia. And although there were other flying creatures, like the gryphon, this one, through it's flickering, seemed... different, somehow.

Don't attack it, Enero! Ophelia warned, and Enero only snorted at that. He definitely had much more sense then the girl. But, he would, if it attacked--- Ophelia was his to protect, his to be with, his to be forever, and the alchemists weren't going to her her or himself that easily...

Far below in the forest, Faraday paced about in worry. All thoughts of anger and longing were pushed out of her mind in an instant as Axis revealed himself to the dragons.

Are you crazy? Faraday shrieked mentally.

Far above, Axis ignored her. The dragon's had seen him and seemed wary. Axis flew in slow circles above the dragons, still flickering in and out of invisibility. As great a fighter that Axis was, the male dragon was huge and Axis doubted he could fight such a behemoth.

Snarling in frustration, Faraday quickly shifted into her chimera form and ran through the forest. It would be foolish to lift into the air with two wary and dangerous dragons. Her lioness' form could only run so far without tiring, and her extra weight did nothing to help her. After only a few minutes, Faraday tired and slowed into a jog. It didn't matter anyway; Axis and the dragons were just ahead.

Axis, meanwhile, finally stayed visible but kept his distance from the dragons. He was especially wary about their fire, and he didn't even know how far their fire could reach.

Catching a thermal, Axis spread his wings and floated on the thermal and watched the dragons. He now doubted they worked for the alchemists, as they would have attacked him already.

They aren't with the alchemists, Faraday.

How do you know?

They would have attacked by now. I'm alone and they are more than a match for me by myself.

Far below, Faraday agreed.

I guess so...

Axis reached into Faraday's mind and comforted her. He would be fine. Slowly, ever so slowly, Axis lowered his altitude, landing amongst the top branches of a tree. His red eyes did not stray from the dragons as Faraday scaled the tree he was in, though she stayed out of sight. Her long alligator's tail whipped nervously through the air.

If anything, I may be able to get some poison into them.

Axis stayed silent and watched the dragons for movement while his other two heads bobbed up and down, baring their teeth at the dragons in warning. If they showed any kind of threatening gestures, he'd disappear below the treetops and escape into the forest where they'd be hardpressed to follow.

It was finally time. That was the only thing in Ethan's mind. It was finally time for them to escape from the torturous white walls of the lab. They'd been planning this day for a long time, the only thing they needed to do was go through with it.

Meinery gave Ethan an assuring glance as he scientists walked them through the hallways, leading them to their fifteen minutes of sunlight. Real sunlight. Inside, Ethan ached for the freedom of the outdoors, and even more he ached for Meinery's sake. A centaur that was held indoors wasn't right, and she'd suffered the days from artificial light, bound in by strict white walls. Ethan promised himself that he would get her out, and Meinery promised herself the same for Ethan.

They neared the door and one of the men unlocked it, breaking the only barrier that kept them from the brilliant sunshine. Ethan couldn't help but look up at Meinery's face, the longing in her eyes only made Ethan more determined to escape. He let her walk out first, not only for the manners of chvalry, but also because she was so much larger than he, as large as a horse in fact, but that was pretty literal.

As the same man closed the door, leaving them in the fairly small enclosure, Ethan immediately shifted into his bonded form and nodded to Meinery. They walked over to the far wall, where a crack had formed. It had gotten bigger since they had last seen it, most likely being scratched and such by the other bondedin a desperate attempt to escape.

'Alright, do you remember the plan?' Meinery's soft voice echoed in Ethan's mind as he watched her run her fingers over the cracked surface.

'Yes, let's just hope this works,' he responded. This was their only chance. If brute strength and impecible speed didn't do the trick, they had no other special abilities like many of the other bonded, and would be put under strict watch.

There would be no more time if he didn't do it now, they were probably suspicious enough just standing idley near the wall, no he had to do it now. Backing up a ways, he started to run full force, colliding into the wall and making the cracked surface widen and crumble.

'One more time should do it,' he thought determindly. He backed up quickly and ran, colliding with the wall once more, breaking through finally. He smiled warily and shifted back to his human form, jumping onto Meinery's back with her help before they jolted swiftly through the forest. There was no turning back now, and no time to stop either. The distant yelling warned them that they would be followed, but with Meinery's fast pace there was no way that they would be caught.

'We've finally escaped, Meinery,' he thought to her, his voice ringing with happiness.

'Yes, but we have a long way from here, my dear one.'
