"Awesome."
The single word was lost in the enormous walls of life that were beginning to completely surround him. Already he was beginning to lose sight of the entrance he'd just come through -once he made a turn, it would be completely gone. Then he'd be on his own if he wanted to somehow get away from the winding passages. No doubt if he was gone too long they would notice and come looking for him. Having enough confidence in himself to wander just enough so as not to make his father feel any more concern over his location, the headphone-clad transfer student turned his first corner, putting himself completely in the leafy maze.
This place was so much better than his old school. Maybe, if he was lucky, his parents would actually let him stay here -he only hoped that things would go over better in his new high school than they had in the past. "I guess that means making a good impression." How had he behaved in front of the higher-ups of the school? Well, he imagined, but he couldn't be sure what they actually thought of him. It would probably just be easier to be himself than to try to fake it. He'd always been a bad liar -it would probably be easy for someone to see right through him.
Deciding to take a chance and act as he naturally did, Katsuo continued wandering aimlessly around the hedges. This was supposed to be his time to be exploring the school. If he was caught out here by his father, he could always just say he was exploring the labyrinth, which he was. Though, really, if he was caught by his father, there'd probably be a long conversation about how he should be more responsible. Best make the best of his exploration time before that, at least. "Hmm. Not good." He commented, running into his first dead end. Because of the music drowning out his hearing, the boy spoke almost twice as loud as he normally would. He turned around completely and walked back to the last intersection he had passed.
"The real question now is: Where did I head?" His eyes glanced at each of the options individually, but no matter which direction he looked in, he couldn't figure out where to go. Now he was lost. With a sigh, he cupped a hand over his eye and randomly pointed in a direction before heading that way.

Satu sat in a gazbo in the middle of the labrynth. In the little secluded spot the sun shone on the white gazbo and the plants the grew around it allowed sections of sun through them. These sections of sun shone on a blond boy sitting in the gazbo. The sun made his unusually blond hair shine mysteriously as it elegently fell onto his pale face.
Satu sighed happily and looked up at the roof of the gazbo which was just green and red, with the occasional white or pink rose which had mysteriously gotten in amungst the other red roses. Sometimes this school drove Satu almost insane but at times like this Satu adored being a member of the elite Ouran academy, simply for the facilities such as this. Satu had gone to all the libraries to try to find a quiet place to read but, as per usual, they were jam packed with groups of giggling girls and boys. In the end Satu had taken to the garden, the warm sun already putting him in a much better mood then he had been in upon leaving the school.
So Satu sat in his little hidy-hole reading "The Adventures of Kavalier and Clay" and secretly wished that he could actually draw so he could create a comic like the characters in his book. Suddenly though a sound broke his concentration. It seemed like it was someone talking to themselves. Probably someone had gotten lost in the labrynth, like Satu had done many times before. He descided to let the person, a boy from the sound of things, find their own way here. Half the fun of getting lost was to find you're way back, or to the middle. When you really hadn't anywhere to go then being lost became much more of a game then an annoyance.
Satu yawned lazily, the warm sun making him sleepy and continued to read, waiting for his visitor to come across the sun drenched white gazbo.

Following only his instinct, Katsuo managed to lose himself even more in the hedge maze. On his way, however, he continued to think that it would be an interesting place if not for his habit of finding himself completely and utterly lost. He decided to make one more turnand take it to the end before attempting to scale the hedges to escape. So the final question was whether to go left or right. Making the choice against his instinct, Arata turned right and began following that path.
It was once he'd wandered partially through the path that he found what seemed like an indent where the hedges made a pocket. He could see a white roof peeking up from the top of the leaves, covered in vines and roses. Even from a distance, it looked beautiful. He sped up to reach it as soon as possible. Once he was standing straight in front of it, he realized what, exactly, he was standing in front of. "They neglected to mention a gazebo..." He said in astonishment. His eyes wandered from the top of the gazebo and slowly migrated down, taking every rose and bud into his memory that he could see.
Finally finding the open-air area covered by the gazebo, Katsuo noticed that there was someone else who had found the center of the labyrinth. And he was a student about his age, too. The first one he'd come upon since he'd gone out to look around. He'd assumed that they were all in class, but it didn't look like all of them did. No doubt that some of the students with free periods right now were wandering the halls or talking to their friends. "Uh... Hello. Come here often?" He laughed nervously. That was a really dumb thing to say. He sighed as he thought to himself.

Satu looked up at the clear blue sky, which was barely visible through the roses. It was amazing that a place like this existed in a school such as this. What surpriced him even more was this place wasn't full of students. It seemed like the perfect place for students to hang out, especially since the weather was so beautiful today. But it seemed like this place was either too secret or too hard to find to actually bother going too.
Satu knew that he should have invited some of his classmates along with him, but for just a little while he had wanted to be on his own. He was now regretting this though as the silence was now annoying him. He had promptly grown bored of the book he was currently reading and now wished for some sort of company to remove him from this rather monotinous moment.
Thankfully Satu's wish was granted, when he finally saw the person who had entered the labrynth earlier. He had gotten to this place much faster then he had. But then again Satu had one of the worst sences of direction known to man. Satu laughed at the boys question. He couldn't really help himself. It was, after all, a rather odd question to ask someone. "Um...I don't think so." he said smiling. "I just found this place today actually. By the way I'm Satu, Satu Kimura!" he said, promptly going into his normal, polite self. For a second he had almost forgotten himself. "I havn't seen you around before. Are...are you knew here or something?" he asked, his curiousity getting the better of him.

Katsuo was still awestruck by the amazing foliage covering the gazebo. He idlely wondered about where they had come from -if someone had put them all there, or if they'd just grown from a single small plant. It was an odd thought, to be sure. He wasn't prone to such questions, so why was one deciding to sneak its way into his mind now? Snapping out of his thoughts, the Arata heir looked back for the first time. The hedges blocked his view of the outside. Now he had no idea where he was compared to where he started. Judging distances wasn't his best skill.
He had yet to actually meet anyone in the new school. However, he knew what the uniforms looked like already, and this boy was definitely wearing it. The expensive clothes were the newest edition to his wardrobe, though he had yet to actually wear them other than when he had tried them on. As soon as he began school, he'd be wearing it even more than he wanted to. At that very moment, he had on his everyday clothes -a long-sleeved white shirt covered by a short red one, along with a pair of black, slightly baggy pants. It was still slightly cold, after all. His clothes kept him from getting cold, but they were still thin enough to keep him from burning up with the constantly-hightening temperature.
So wandering really did get him where he wanted to end up. Though he had never expected such an amazing place in the center of the labyrinth when he first began. Nor did he expect someone to be there, almost waiting for him. "I didn't mean to ask that question, I just didn't know what else to say." He confessed, smiling awkwardly. "Just today? I'm lucky to have been wandering around today, then." His 'luck', so to speak, would likely come when he attempted to get out of the maze. He didn't have much time, and he had no idea when they would actually be expecting him back. "My name is Katsuo Arata. I actually just transfered here. For now, I'm exploring the school."

Satu laughed. "I don't think you're too lucky finding me here!" he said brightly. "Lets just say I don't have the best sense of direction in the world so getting out of here might be an adventure for both of us!" he said smiling. It was quite an odd day weather wise. It wasn't hot enough for Satu to completely take off his purple school blazer but it wasn't cold enough for him to have it buttoned. This rather annoyed the boy because he felt very sloppy with his blazer unbuttoned. It usually made his shirt untuck itself from his pants and it gave him an alltogether sloppy appearance.
"Please to meet you." Satu said brightly. He purpously didn't call him by his name as he had once again forgotten which honorifics to use. Since he had just met the boy Satu instead descided just not to use his name. Maybe Katsuo would be able to help him without Satu having to explain his dilema. "Oh so you're new here then. Theres a new girl aswell. Her name is Sai." Satu said, musing to himself. "She is very nice." Satu then snapped out of his daze.
"Have you enjoyed exploring the school so far? Its rather large isn't it?" he added, laughing at the memories of his own first few days exploring the school. It was actually amazing how lost he had gotten. "Gotten lost anywhere other then here?" he asked smiling brightly.

Katsuo felt let down at having another student with no sense of direction as his only method of escaping the maze. At least between the two of them, they might be able to get halfway there. By that time, help might have been sent in to rescue them. "An adventure... This place really is nothing like what I expected." So far, none of it was like his old school. He wouldn't have to stay there every moment of every day, there were huge gazebos, and adventures waiting for him in labyrinths. Definitely not like boarding school at all, and he hadn't even started yet.
"Good to meet you, too, Satu-san." For the moment, Satu was further into school than he was. Why not use a higher honorific? Maybe once they got to know each other better he'd use a more familiar one. Upon meeting someone for the first time, however, his father had taught him that he was to be as polite as possible to reflect the family well -this was one of the few times he listened to what his father told him to do. "Sai? Maybe I'll get lucky again and get to meet her." Though that would involve keeping his eyes open instead of on his MP3 player.
Katsuo nodded to Satu's first question, and he continued nodding to answer the second. "This is actually the first place I've ended up. My father just sent me off to get a look at the campus."

Satu looked around at the gazebo around him. "Yeah I know what you mean. This place is almost like another world isn't it?" he said turning and smiling. "Don't worry! it can't be too hard to find the exit. The way I always remember how to get out is that theres a big tree by the entrance and you can see it just above the hedges. Otherwise I would be still lost in here after the first time I went exploring!" he said laughing.
Satu smiled. "I'll be sure to introduce her to you. After all I'm sure she'll be glad about having someone in the same situation as her!" he said. Sai had asked him to introduce her to new people and since Katsuo was new too they would have common ground. "Oh by the way what class are you going to be in?" Satu asked, interested. "I'm in class 1B."
Satu closed his book, stood up and yawned. "Well...why don't we try to get out of here and I'll try my best to give you a tour?" he asked him grinning again. Satu was never this happy or this helpful but the nice weather always put him in a good mood.

"Another world..." He echoed with a nodded. It really was different from the outside -even if the rest of the campus was amazing. The labyrinth was still the most impressive thing he'd seen thus far at Ouran. "We'll just have to keep searching until we find that tree, then. Once we see it we'll be in the clear!" He was really glad now that he had someone who'd navigated their way out before.
Although he doubted that he would be able to meet Sai that day, at least he knew her name. And no doubt that once he started school Satu would at least point her out to him. "Thanks in advance." He smiled to his new acquaintance. "Oh, right. I've been put in 1B, too, actually. I haven't actually taken the time to figure out the class system. Never really cared much about it." He shrugged; it really wasn't important to him which class he was in.
"That'll probably end up being the best idea. You probably know your way around this place a lot better than me -though you have to admit, you got a pretty big head start." He pointed out before smirking. It occured to him now that it might have been a better plan if he'd thought about exploring the living labyrinth after he had gone through the rest of the school, not before. This obviously hadn't stopped him before, and it was too late to change it. He'd just have to live with his decision.

Satu nodded. "It can't be that hard to find the way out. Plus I've gotten lost in here so many times before that I have discovered that you can crawl through the bushes in the maze if you try hard enough!" he added laughing.
Satu smiled. "The class system isn't too important really. Most of the people from class 1A are really nice anyway so it doesn't really make much of a difference which class you're in in my opinion. I'll introduce you to everyone I know in the class!" he said smiling.
"Haha you would think that wouldn't you?" he said smiling. "Believe me if anyone needs a headstart it would be me! But don't worry I can still give you a propper tour!" He said smiling putting his hands in his pockets and rocking back and fourth.

Katsuo was relieved that his new acquaintance thought it wouldn't take to long to escape. "I wouldn't mind crawling around if it meant getting out of this place faster." Who cared if both of his parents would be aggravated if he got his clothes covered in dirt and leaves.
"I get what you're saying. Still, I'd like to at least meet some of the 1A students before I make an opinion about them. I've only seen one thus far." He nodded, remembering his chance meeting with Mitsuko in the park. Of all the people who could have rushed by him that day, it turned out to be someone who was going to his new school. "All right. Hope we see them while we're walking, then."
"I would and did." He replied with a small smile. He would just have to trust Satu to show him the right places. Of course, he'd probably have time to check it out on his own once he actually started attending school.

Satu smiled "Well we'll only resrt to that if nessisary. I'd prefare to keep my uniform clean!" he said laughing slighty. He ushured Katsuo through the maze, keeping his eyes on the school at all times. Aslong as he kept an eye on the school they would make there way to it without getting too lost.
"Well they've all been very nice to me anyway." he said smiling. "If I see them around I'll introduce you okay then?" he said smiling. He liked helping someone new. It was stoping him feeling completely bored.
Satu smiled as they slowly found there way out of the maze. "See told you I could find my way out again!" he said smiling. "Okay so where would you like to go first?"

Katsuo smiled back. "I'd prefer to keep my clothes clean, as well. We'll just have to see how things turn out." If they had to, it was possible that they'd make like they were in military training. On occasion, Katsuo would look toward the school to see if they were getting any closer. There wasn't enough of a difference between their positions each time to notice a visible change in the size of the school.
"I'll be optimistic and assume that they'll be good to me, too. And thanks in advance." His eyes again wandered back to the main school building. Was it closer than last time? He couldn't tell.
Partially surprised that they hadn't needed to crawl under any hedges, Katsuo widened his eyes. "Wow, congratulations. Thanks for getting us out." He gazed around him with his newly-acquired freedom. "How about over there?" He pointed to the building that he had seen from inside the maze.

Satu smiled and nodded as he looked around the gardens with glee, so proud of himself that he hadn't gotten them even most lost then they originially were.
He nodded "Not a problem! See we didn't have to get our clothes dirty or anything!" he said laughing brightly.
He looked over at the building. The grand, extremly extravigent building that was the main Ouran High School. Even if you had been in Ouran for many years its splender would still amaze you. It still amazed Satu and he came from quite a wealthy family.
"Of course. Thats the main building, by the way. All your first year classes will be in there" he said with a nod and started walking.

Katsuo looked down at his clothes to find that there was, in fact, no dirt whatsoever on it. Their exploration of the maze had managed to get them exactly where they wanted to go, yet didn't force them to get their extremely expensive outfits messed up. Arata didn't personally care about the shirt. His parents would competely destroy him if he managed to mess up his new clothes.
"Wow." He stated simply, not able to look away from the awe-filling building. "That's... really where I'll have all my classes? Everyday?" He whistled in amazement. "I think... I'm going to like it here." He commented lightly before quickly walking to catch up with Satu. He wouldn't want to lose his guide ten minutes after finding him.
