Reciently there's be a lot of discussion on the board about jewish customs and practices. There's also been a few who have no where to get Judica or have no idea what it is, or what to do with it once they have it.
It occured to me, why don't we plan a trip, we all meet up somewhere in real life. I dunno, maybe after a year of planning we can figure it all out. But you know, just meet somewhere in a prominent jewish community with a good public transportation system and large stores that specialize in selling religous items. Yeah, bring your parents, and their credit cards, it will be a hoot.
It will be like a convention, set schedule, face to face chats, maybe paroose a bookstore discover what kosher chinese food is like... and so on and so on.
Think we can pull it off?

I'd be up for it, so long as I didn't have to travel too far. I'm not much of a fan of the West, prefer to stick to the familiar blue-blood East.

Perhaps we should all A/S/L and what's nearby to help plan a trip, always helps to have a local tour guide. Also it's good to know the locations of everyone and if they can leave the state without their parents.
30/M/Boston
Stuff Nearby : Coolidge Corner, Brookline. It's possibly Jew Central for the greater Boston area. Several Kosher Bakeries and Delis, Several Judica arts and the Israeli Bookstore. And I'm pretty sure there's a Holiday Inn nearby.

Eh, sure, why not?
19/m/Albany/Bennington (depends on the time of year). Not much around here, at least not much that I know of. There is a congregation in Bennington, but not a large one. No special landmarks or stores that I know of.

OOOoooooooh! I won't even suggest my town, because it's sucks like crazy, but I would be SO down for this. Especially if we went to New York, because I've always wanted to go, and this would give me an excuse.
I don't know who lives in New York City though...Yoni and Jennifer (did) but we don't see the likes of them around here anymore...

Where in New York? Crown Heights? (shudder)

I personally just thought they were everywhere...

kingpinsqeezels You might have to ask a New Yorker where Jews chill in the city. I personally just thought they were everywhere... According to my parents, who are both expatrated New Yorkers, the large concentration of Jews in New York is in Brooklyn. Most of the manhattan Jews on the Lower East Side and in Washington Heights have left. I'm unsure of places to go in Brooklyn, we might plan an event and end up in a neighborhood of Puerto Ricans.

I used to live in New Rochelle, and went into NYC all the time. I can always ask my relatives where the cool Jews hang.

Puerto Ricans, Jews, who can tell the difference? We're all brothers from another mother baby.
I always assumed Brooklyn too, but what would I know? I come from a small town in Arkansas.
Man if we could pull this off, I'd love it.

That would be awesome, but with college and everything coming up, I don't know where exactly I can travel. I've got a passport, but I doubt I'll go out of the US in the years before and during college. Hmm....I'll see what I can do, though. I have 2 really good friends living in the east coast- Boston and Philadelphia, so maybe someday I can visit them, too.
As for now, I live in Missouri, an hour or so from St. Louis to give you a closer location. In all honesty, there's basically nothing amazingly Jewish here- there's a few cool things like the Science Center, the Arch, blah blah blah, but this is not exactly a place of great culture, either. WashU has a great Hillel program, but besides a few synagogues and such near there, not many kosher stores and the like. (Though there's a place with great matza ball soup!)
And if you can't tell by now what gender I am, that's kind of sad. blaugh
My vote is for a safe neighborhood, though. I really don't want to regret the US not allowing weapons on planes. xd
To warn you guys in advance, while I don't mind visiting one, I've never lived in a city, and the city of St. Louis is not exactly a great place to be in many parts, so I'm a bit intimidated by them. So someplace that isn't scary would be good. sweatdrop

How's that a weapon? take off one of your socks, load with it with quarters and then start swinging. Granted it's not an instant draw weapon but it gets the job done. As for being intimidated by big cities. Umm New York I would say is right out.
