We'd run it as the Gaian Army I think, since that name generates the most recognition, and we'd be on foot for the game anyways. More details when I'm not at work...just wanted to get a feel for the interest.
A benefit I see: burnt out RPers may be excited (like I am) by the idea of the Battle system, and may be motivated to post in here.
...which leads to activity.
Another benefit is that we'll be getting our advertising done in the most efficient way: being out there, visible and in the public eye in the newest medium.
...which leads to more members.
Anyways, what do you guys think?

sounds good. Will it require uniforms though if we act as a group?

If Gaia is going full blown MMO, we'll end up with a tag under or near our name that denotes which "clan" we belong to.
Amusingly, MMORPGs have less to do with RP, so we don't necessarily have to go with a uniform. However, it might be fun to have one anyways. The problem is that since the outfit change system hasn't been added in yet (mentioned in last year's AX panel), our avatars will pretty much have to be stuck wearing the uniform the entire time.
As for me, I've set up my avatar the way I was originally thinking of for Battle.

Gaia Casual it is whee
I sent out some nudges to a few people whom I respect lots whom I don't think monitor the guild as much as others... hopefully we'll get lotsa people to party with.
I have no idea what the skills are gonna end up like, but I'm planning on having:
Ai Leen being a brawler-type (Hoping for a really cool glomp attack animation!)
Rachele Rivers being the quintessential Tank
MisterE as either a martial artist or a mage.
I'd like something for RileyKiley, but her concept is some sort of spy-puppetmaster. Come to think of it...Ai Leen should really be some sort of puppetmaster controlling a brawler. xd
...it's probably too much to hope for mecha, huh? redface

well I was hopeing there would me psi type ability rings so i could play a psionist like i do in vanguard. its so fun to spam a slow down dot, a high damage dot and a aoe dot then freeze a mob in time and mind controll another mob and drop the anger a mob has on another player or myself with anotehr spell. and have a stance that increases my damage and mana useage and another that lets me drain mana from my foe to regen mine.

I'd probably go with Drake Vanyel badassery for the MMO. wink
And I do actually RP in MMOs. Just look at me on Guild Wars. Everyone else thinks I'm crazy, but you do find a couple others if you know where to look.
I'm just not sure if I'll get to use the Blind Drake Vanyel or not.
Blind Drake was sort of based off class ideas and characters like the Lady Luck class from FF X-2, and Setzer. I love him. I doubt they'd have the right mix of Roulette/Chance type skills though.
The normal Drake Vanyel idea though is something that'll undoubtably be possible no matter what.

I find Hitting Stuff is a lot more Fun than Blow Stuff up with your Mind/Magic.
And healing is just painful. Hard job, very demanding, and everyone blames you when they go and charge recklessly at 6-1 odds, outside your "Healing range" and somehow you didn't manage to save them. wink
Play Guild Wars, routinely my favorite are Weapon/Pet based characters. You know, like my Guild Wars character of the same name, Arcturus Highwind, who uses Spears in combat, and has a Ginormous Rat pet he sicks on people. wink

hehe, darn PUGs (Pick-Up Groups). Always someone dumb who doesn't know how to play with others.
Healing is actually pretty rewarding. I like being able to keep others up. My mains though are a tank and a "DPS" (damage per second) class, a rogue. Tanking is sort of like healing...your job is to make sure the enemy's focus is entirely on you, letting others do the job of killing the thing.
In terms of fighters then, there's usually at least 3 other types: the quick DPS type (usually two weapon style), the slow DPS type (the ones that like the big sledgehammers and two-handed battle axes), and the martial artist, which is usually a combination of hard hits and debuffs.

I like the sound of being a quick DPS class. That'd be pretty fun

The quick DPS classes usually are something like the Assassins from Guild Wars.
Which means "Can unload a lot of damage in very few seconds"
Most Assassins can take down any target in Guild Wars in like... 5 seconds. At most. Usually closer to 3.
Problem is? If someone counters just one of their skills they usually get to sit there like a lump. And that class has little Caster girl armor that means they get hit HARD when someone decides to hit them.
I think this avatar will be my "GNG uniform"... sweatdrop

World of Warcraft Rogues are much the same way, very squishy if you can attack them before they kill you. They mix it up though with Enhancement-spec Shamen and Fury-spec Warriors. Shaman and Warrior get mail armor and plate armor respectively, upping their armor significantly. Where the rogue gets out of trouble with the abilities Vanish (think ninja-vanish, with the whole smoke bomb thrown at one's feet) and Evasion (raw evasion statistic upped by a significant percentage), the mail wearing Shaman utilizes their totems to buff or debilitate, to adjust the balance to their advantage. Fury Spec Warriors have piles of hit points, can shrug off fear effects, and wear plate.
...and I don't know where I'm going with this, so I'm done posting. 3nodding
