Can anyone suggest a good affordable tablet. I want to try and get one that will allow me to create great effects in photoshop but isn't too expensive.

Thank you for adding my banner to your sig! How much are you willing to spend? Wacom tablets run anywhere from $300 to $3,000 and they are most preferred by graphic designers. However there are cheaper choices for the occasional photoshopper, maybe from $100 and up.

On a dark and stormy night... I would try Graphire from Wacom :]
It's a good design and pretty easy to use.~<3 A bunny came to my house! <3

Alot of Graphic designers prefer a Wacom. So I'd suggest one of those, but if it's out of your price range and you want something now, theres always more affordable ones for beginners. =)

Yes, that's what I've used for two years. It just now died due to a slight mouse running through and thinking the wire was tasty. I'm just not going to decide to fix it and save up for a new one...but I loved it to bits and it was only $100.

The one I had was a Wacom Graphire 3. There is the new Graphire that you can get online here. I know the Best Buy at my town is having them on sale for $75 this week too...

As an update: The Bamboo has come out, and the Medium Bamboo Fun is only $199 and it's a large tablet with a decent writing size on it. The Small Bamboo Fun is only $99 and comes with all the same programs however the usable size is quite small.

I actually found using a tablet EXTREMELY difficult while using photoshop. Ill stick to drawling with the old fashioned mouse..

Everything I draw with a mouse looks like crap. That's why I need a tablet.

DemonicAngelic Josh I actually found using a tablet EXTREMELY difficult while using photoshop. Ill stick to drawling with the old fashioned mouse.. It took me a while to get used to drawing with a tablet, but I found that going to the Control Panel and clicking on Tablet, then setting it to a pen setting rather than a mouse setting (where the cursor will reset as soon as you remove the mouse) makes things a lot easier.

Ha ha, I always wanted to work with a pad but after reading some of these I'm kinda worried.

NitemareOfYourDreams Ha ha, I always wanted to work with a pad but after reading some of these I'm kinda worried. It took a little getting used to but actually after a while I used it like a mouse. Even playing World of Warcraft I was using it as my mouse to scroll over everything and clicking. It was more reliable to use than my old mouse. I'm still said it's dead and I can't afford a new one.

Alena Aiyana Can anyone suggest a good affordable tablet. I want to try and get one that will allow me to create great effects in photoshop but isn't too expensive.
Tablets from Wacom are said to be the best. I have one, Bamboo One I guess, and it was cheap and it's enough for me though the size is only A6. But it came with a great programme ArtRage2 (it allows you to create real paintings on your computer).
