Loveless was satisfied at the moment, and while moving quickly through the forest, she tested her ability of smell and observed what was around her. With practice like this she had become better at hunting and sensing, and she noticed how many groups seemed to be around her at that moment. Such a disgusting thought, seeing others quarrel and speak nonsesne with one another. For the sake of her sanity, she moved herself to a more silent area, and felt rested at the emptyness it held.

Her dark body slowly moved itself around the area, and sensing things now would truly be a challenege. She faintly felt some of the orginal bodies she smelt before, and now she tried to focus herself to see if anything was around her now. At the moment, it didn't seem so. In reaction to the silence, she stretched her wings and flapped them comfortably, also arching her neck in a finish. Ahh yes, this was much better.

Either Loveless had not focused her senses as well as she thought or Hex was simply out of range because the dark mare was not alone. The stallion had noticed someone nearby and the scent was only vaguely familiar, and not because he had personally met this mare. No, he had faintly smelled this mare upon his mentor, Anevay. He was not the curious sort, but he was territorial, and that was the main reason he even decided to approach. With Anevay gone, he was less inclined to play the silent role.

His browny-red coat did wonders to hide him against the bark of trees, but if the light caught it just right, a glimmer of shine was detectable.

With the same hint of smell from Anevay, Loveless lifted her brow and scoped the area, looking to see if the female was around. It was strange, because the scent was not as similar as Anevay was, and rather had a different feel. It had shocked her all of the sudden, and she narrowed her gaze to figure out what was surrounding her. "Hiding and seeking?" she said, with her usual glarey eyes. How annoying, she hated wasting her energy for finding others.

But either way, she kept her body alert, and her eyes watchful. Because it was not completely familiar, she needed to keep herself composed until she saw what was lurking around her.

"It is difficult to tell who is hiding...and who is doing the seeking," came a soft, rumbling, acid-laced retort that was definitely not Anevay's. "I don't like playing games, at any rate."

A quiet rustling noise of brush soon heralded the appearance of a dark-coated male with bright red streaks amidst a coal-black mane. He seemed composed enough aside from a slight twitch at the corner of his mouth, which exposed only the very tip of a chipped fang.

"How perfect," Loveless closed her eyes slightly and watched the stallion appear. "I don't like playing games either."

Impressive as the stallion was, she kept her expression bland, but enjoyed the coloring he had on his body. He was much brighter then she was, and she noticed the half-heart on his chest. For some reason that looked oddly familiar. Maeryn seemed to have the same marking on her chest.."Stallion," she said, calmly, "Why do you smell of Anevay, and have a marking of Maeryn?" Two different Kalonas, so this confused her so.

She wasn't one who ignored her questions, and she flicked her tail quickly in hopes of a response. This situation was unusual, afterall.

Hex regarded Loveless with an almost unnerving sort of calmness, a knowing smirk finally drawing itself across his muzzle as a light of calculation lit his eyes.

"I thought the marking would have been clear to those who know of Maeryn. Why else would one bear markings of another if they were not related in some fashion?" He chuckled hoarsely, tilting his head to the side ever so slightly. "And Anevay...what is it to you that I might smell of such a mare?"

She snorted, not wanting him to take her as a fool. "I know Maeryn had sons and a daughter, so I pleased to see you are one of her sons. She is a very wise Kalona, and has been kind to me since my youth."

"An Anevay is also a wise one," she shifted her frown into more of a grin. "I was only suprised to smell her around me, and to then see you. Was it wrong of me to be taken aback by such?" She shook her head slightly to get the bangs out of her eyes. "I haven't seen both Anevay and Maeryn in awhile, so your connection with them is amusing. What is your name, stallion?"
PostPosted: Wed Jul 04, 2007 11:41 am

"Maeryn would be pleased to know she is appreciated, I am sure. Had you spoken ill of her, I'm afraid I'd have had to address that situation, and not to your advantage. Clearly, I am one of her sons."

He slipped out fully from the cloak of protection he found in the shadows and brush, his tail snaking behind him ominously through the leaf litter. He kept his wings tucked fully to save them from snags upon tough branches, but it was clear that they were proportioned to match his large frame.

"I am not surprised I smell of the mare. I spend a great deal of time in her company, for she has been my mentor since I was born. Nothing more, nothing less." He hoped that might clear up any thoughts that this stallion had perhaps been more than just a student to the gemstone mare; Hex had never been romantically inclined to Anevay, especially when she had punished him fiercely from missteps in training. "My name is Hex."

Seeing his reaction only made her smile, and feel proud for Maeryn since she was not there to witness such. Loveless didn't feel compelled to ever stand up for her own parents, and Hex's reaction only made her a bit jealous in the sense of parental acheivement. "Your mother is a great Kalona, probably one of the best in my opinion. Speaking ill of her should always result in a kind of punishment." It was easy to agree with him on that topic.

Ah, so Anevay was Hex's mentor? In a strange way, the vision of the Hex standing beside her seemed to be vaguely familiar, but Loveless put the memories aside and brought her attention back on the stallion. "Another impressive mentor, I sought her out for advice in my youth." Which was another decision that her parents greatly hated, "And you may call me Loveless," she purred slightly, as if giving him permission now.

Though, something else stuck to her mind, and she grinned in the planning of the question. "I wonder if my father is familiar to you? Ariston is his name." And once again, she completely excluded her mother.

"Anevay enjoys giving advice to those who ask for it...and to those who do not ask for it. I believe your father is one of those. Anevay has spoken of him to me at times." He openly chuckled at that, remembering the venom that the mare had put to her words when talking about the white-skinned male with an ego problem. "I, personally, have never met him. From what I hear, I am loathe to do so."

He said this bluntly, with no apology to his tone. Hex had no wish to deal with a stallion that regarded lessers as equals, especially one that Anevay had expressed annoyance over.

"Your name is also familiar to me, Loveless. You've been spoke of many times." He did not give away in his voice if what he heard was good or bad; instead, he wanted the mare to wonder...to worry even. He always enjoyed letting others stew in uncertainty. It gave him satisfaction.

"My father could use all of the advice he could get, but of course would never listen." She sighed, and then glanced back up at the stallion. "That is precisely while I sought out Anevay, to learn what was the right way of living, rather then living in the wrong as my father does." A complicated scenario, though Loveless brushed off the drama and listened to Hex's next comment.

Of course it was suprising that Anevay would speak of her, but Loveless tried to show that she was unaffected by his comment. "Well, I can only hope it was a good thing." And that was all she added, before stepping a bit closer to the stallion.

It had been awhile since she had run into a stallion, her last encounter was with Antony, who darted away from the scenario because he couldn't handle her, or something. At least Hex was actually a Kalona, and this made Loveless smile at the thought. "Tell me stallion, Anevay obviously taught you morals and strength, but what did she teach you of female Kalonas?" A valid question, and Loveless tried to hold an allured expression while wondering what Hex's words would be.

Hex flared his nostrils at Loveless' avoidance of asking about what sorts of things Anevay had said, but he could cue in on her surprise. He offered no answer to her statement, only issuing another chuckle in a mysterious, knowing sort of way. He was irritated though, not getting the desired result he had been hoping for.

The smooth transition into something a little less innocent and a little more carnal made Hex stop laughing and his eyes flickered across Loveless' form ever so briefly. "Anevay has taught me many things, being that she is a mare and is clearly one that enjoys satisfying her inner desires," he commented dryly, seeing where this exchange might be heading. "I spent nearly every waking hour beneath her watchful eye and she beneath mine."

There were a few things that Loveless could do at this moment, and she pondered quickly in her mind. It was obvious that Hex had some knowledge on the issue, but something else was left unclear in his words.

Loveless' own eyes flickered at that moment, and she moved much closer to Hex now, very carefully but barely brushing her lip on his neck. She did it almost perfectly to show that it wasn't in a violent manner, or preditorial. "That may be, but what about your own desires Hex?" After speaking, she moved her head away from him, and stepped on to her back leg to give him space. It may have been bold, but bold was needed around males.

She had failed so badly when doing this to Antony, but it took her a moment after to realize that when he fled, it was because of how afraid he was of her. Hex didn't seem as if he was afraid, and she gleamed at this difference.

"My desires are just that. Mine...not for manipulation by anyone, even by a striking mare."

He was again blunt, eyes narrowing slightly as he recognized the game that he'd seen Anevay play many times before and had been trained to ward against. Loveless was a very fine specimen of a female Kalona and at another time, he might be inclined for a bit of foolishness, but he had learned to be wary of kalona mares that tried to solicit him upon first meeting. He appreciated her boldness, if nothing else. At least she wasn't meek.

"Pity.." she turned herself away from him, though was still smiling as she strode around. "You assume it is always for the sake of manipulation, though what if I was just curious of your desires?" Glancing back at him, she narrowed her eyes into a more bent shape. "Not all female Kalonas are exactly the same Hex, and nor are our motives." She gave him a slight wink, and brought herself centered to face him.

"But alas, my only purpose was to discover more about you you see." Well, in actuality she was saving herself from losing the situation. But, she did hold truth in her words about not all being the same, because even Hex proved different in his own ways of dealing with desires.
