Mignon carefully made her way up towards the house, holding a scrap of paper in her hand. She had yet to talk to this particular Sin'Aeis much, and she wanted to rectify this.

Like her mother had allways told her to, Mignon was dressed to impress in a pink blazer and matching skirt. She carefully rapped on the door and waited paitently for someone to answer.

"Hi." A little voice greeted her. The house was one that wasn't at all styled like that of the other children. It belonged to an elfin man who had apparently moved from his home world to escape the chaos of a war. The home was beautifully built, graceful sweeping arches over the doorways and gaping windows. Fair sculptures of rearing horses stood above the pathway into the front yard which would have been quite a walk, a long path laid with pearly flagstone with spongey moss growing inbetween the cracks. Along the path grew perhaps the widest variety of flowers in that particular regon. The property was massive but fenceless save for around the main home. A barn nearby boasted a pair of horses- one large grey dappled stallion and one black and white filly, just a colt at the time. Beside the door grew a large bed of flowers that stretched out and rounded a fountain that bubbled from the center of the yard. Gillian had been napping in the flowerbed as he normally did. Gabriel, his guardian, knew the boy was a bit of a free spirit and wouldn't take well to being told to stay indoors. The elf was busy in the back tending to another section of their herb garden. Gillian was allowed to wonder around the fenced yard to his heart's content.

The boy was dressed in an elvish fasion. A silky white shirt with a finely patterned collar, long beads hanging from his short black hair strung with feathers and wraps of different colors. His horns had been wrapped as well and topped with rounded silver balls to keep from poking anyone. He had on a pair of tighter brown pants and a pair of wooden sandals. Very elfish indeed. He didn't know how to speak too much, but he did understand everything he heard and would respond anyway he could manage. The boy smiled pleasently, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hands.

Mignon blinked once and leaned down, her curls bobbing as she smiled. "Hi there, sweetie. You're Gillian, right? I'm a Sin'aeis, just like you. We haven't met, so I came over. My name's Miggy." Maybe she'd spent too much time around Jani and the older children, but she spoke to Gillian like he was her own age.

"I hope your Dad won't be mad at me for just popping in."

Gillian watched as her hair bounced. He loved long hair... he ended up loving just about something on everyone- accept that lamb child. His temper was enough to pretty much discourage any further thought into liking him. Smiling a bit he nodded at her question. "Gillian. Mah nam." He was still sloppy with trying to speak, his vocabulary very limited but it was obvious that he was trying to be polite.

A small hand extended- he'd seen others do it and the chicken girl from the previous day had done the same thing. It must have been a polite way to greet someone. "You?"

She gently reached out and shook his hand before sitting down, so she wasn't towering over the little guy. She touched her chest and said, "My name is Mignon. It's nice to meet you, Gillian."

She admired his hair. "I like your hair. The beads and feathers go nice with your outfit." It was so nice to see babies with a flair for fashion.

He smiled a bit, whipping his tail around to rest in his lap as he sat cross-legged accross from the girl. Another name to try, well it should be interesting to say the least, "Mign...Mig..", He looked a bit frusterated and went onto mouthing the name silently. Sighing he shook his head. It would still be a while.

At her complement he looked up towards his hair, almost as if he expected to see it for himself. Smiling he chuckled a bit, "Gabe beads." Meaning simply that Gabriel, his guardian, was the one who made the beads and placed it in his hair.

"Mig's a very good thing to call me." She said, giving him an encouraging smile. Her eyes fell on his tail and she grinned bigger. "You are adorable, Gillian." She added. Mignon couldn't help it, she had a soft spot for unique kids.

"Gabe did the beads? Gabe is good with beads and feathers." She leaned a little closer to see his hair better.

"Not Gabe feath....h...er." He explained reaching up to hold out the two feathers that had been strung in his hair. One jet black and the other more of a brown color with stripes here and there. Akilah had given one and her bird the other. How he'd explain that he couldn't really say but perhaps the girl would reconize them well enough. It was quite flattering to have an older child complementing him so. Everyone seemed to enjoy his tail, his sister most of all. "Bird n'... n'.... gir feath...her." He tried explaining a bit further. Spirits alive he never did get the girl's name!

She took a closer look at the feathers. One black, one tan. Her lips pursed slightly and she thought for a few moments. "Oh! Is it from Kilah and Gizmo? Kilah's a big bird girl, a little bigger than me with long hair and little eyes. And Gizmo's her black griffin friend, like a big bird dog."

If Kilah really had given him one of her feathers, that made Mignon happy. Kilah wasn't exactly easy to get along with.

Gillian nodded, loooking over the feathers and running his fingers gently over the edges of them, "Bir." He said simply, trying to get down the word "Bird". Difficult, one day he'd talk like the others and manage to say other things on his mind like, "She didn't seem so bad to me. All I really had to do was say "no" to her a second time...." But for the moment all he could get out was, "Kila?..Ki...not bad." He shrugged, letting the feathers fall back into place, "Bir big, not bad."

Mignon stretched her legs out. "Do you want to take a walk? It's nice out, and you can show me around." She extended her hand, in case he needed help.

Gillian looked up to her, to her hand then down at his feet. He was a terribly slow and clumsy walker. Already he'd been working on it, only able to walk if he was crawling along a wall. He could stand well enough, but walking only made him meet with his old friend the ground again. "Cannot." He said simply, suprised that it came out right. Last time he'd said "Camelot" instead of "Cannot". He seemed pleased with himself for a moment, then decided he'd better try to explain the problem, "...walk..wall."

"Feet can't hold you up yet?" She asked sympathetically. "They'll get bigger soon." Mignon reached over and gave one toe a tweak.

"Hold onto my hands and I'll get you to your wall. Don't think you'd let me carry you around. You look too proud for that."

Gillian chuckled as she played with his toes, nodding in response to her comment about his pride. It wasn't nessicarily that he was too proud to accept help, rather he believed that he should be able to take car of himself. A bit of an issue with him since he had first laid eyes on another child-aside from his sister of course-was his stature. Since he and his sister had recieved only half of Chaco's power, half of the ingrediants originally intended for only one child, and half the abilities of the others, he was half their size. Even fully grown, he wasn't expected to get over four feet tall. Depending on someone else all his life would only make for a bit more of a bash to that little ego issue. He didn't want pity, he was perfectally happy with how he was and there was really no reason to be sorry for him.

"Show Ai-Hawa." He smiled, turning to point towards the barn. A small filly was grazing next to a large dappled war horse, a horse just as young as Gillian, patterned ironically like a cow. Gabriel had bought the purebred arabian to serve as the child's companion through life- and since his legs wouldn't be nearly long enough to make him speedy like the others, he'd have a horse to ride about when they were both old enough.

"You're adorable." Mignon said in response to the giggle. It didn't take much to get on Mignon's good side, but being cute was one of the best ways.

She looked to the area he was pointing out and gasped in delight. "She's beautiful, Gillian! She's yours? Wow!" Having a horse of his own definatly knocked Gillian up a few pegs in her respect rank. Mom wouldn't let her have a horse.
