I dont know I think the games are very similar but other people tell me theyre diffirent.
In my opinon I say Street Fighter.
So Street Fighter or Tekken? Opinons?

It's a bit difficult to tell..if you like the default of just guarding by stepping back then it'd be Tekken but if you want a little bit of advancement then go for street fighter. But personally I like Tekken.

Wow, that's a tough choice... Tekken is more mythical-ish if I recall it well, since I haven't played it in like 3-5 years now xD and Street Fighter, well, the names says it, it's more Street Fighting style xP But again, I haven't played it in a while either.
In my opinion? Street Fighter is better, but then again, we still have Mortal Kombat, Dead or Alive, Soul Calibur and a couple other games to compare them to...

Well... considering Tekken is a 3D fighting game and Street Fighter is 2D... I can't really make a choice.
Maybe as far as character design and variations maybe there is a distinction that can be made. But gameplay is a whole other world. Unless you're talking about Street Fighter's attempt at a 3D game which failed miserably to catch my interest...
Here's where I stand with what I can compare them with:
Character Design: Street Fighter (Tekken has too many cliches)
Story: Street Fighter (It doesn't revolve around a "Mysterious Tournament")
Anime Movie: Street Fighter (They have more... and Tekken sucked)
Music: Tekken (something I do like is their music)
Artwork: Street Fighter (Capcom's creative team is awesome)
so yeah.. you see where I stand... gameplay, is not valid in this though.

I grew up with Street Fighter so I would say that it wins, but I like Tekken as well. I like that you can see the moves and there is a move list, where SF doesn't have that, at least the old school games. Plus I love 2-D. I think it makes smoother fighting. 3nodding

Tekken is awesome... next to Mortal Kombat. Hey! Why isn't Mortal Kombat taken into consideration? That's a classic.

True, Mortal Kombat is a classic, but not in the same class, or part as Tekken and Street Fighter, but I agree with Silverbells, Soul Calibur wins between the 4.

I know some 3D Street Fighters were made but from what I heard they were dire.

Personally I like Tekken, and even more Tekken tag, thought the choice of two characters was nifty, made the fights more interesting. But also I have to say I love Soul Calibur 3. Pretty good cut scenes and characters. It has a lot of options in that game.

I've never played Street Fighter so Tekken wins by default. Though it is a cherished fighting game for me...
