"I can't believe the chef turned us away like that," muttered Isi haughtily, breathing out hot breath like a pissed off dragon. He glanced once over his shoulder at the tall building where his adopted brother worked on the top floor. Shaking his head and moving his crutches and arms so that he caught up to the wispy raevan in front of him, Isi snapped, "Hold up, Eirdirsceol, I can't keep up if you take such a fast pace! I'll be wiped out by the time we make it back to the wagon."
Startled by the sound of his master's voice, Eiry stopped and turned around to look at Isi. He had been fumbling around of a piece of string. Earlier, Isi had taught him how to play cat's cradle, and right now, Eiry was trying to think how he could add this contraption to his stockpile of tricks and pranks. Keeping track of Isi wasn't his first priority. His first priority was obviously ... the string. His second priority was keeping his broken wing cradled near his back, safe and away from accidental bumpings or other such modes of touch. He thought that the sticks and bandages wrapped around his wing wasn't working, but what could he know of healing?
Isi sighed and he caught up to his raevan with a couple moments without much trouble from the pedestrians. The city streets were averagely filled with the usual crowd of people. There were enough to get in your way, but not enough so that you'd lose a group member. Thankfully, they had avoided the morning traffic and the crowd should be a decent size until lunch hour. Then, they'd have to get out of the way and wade out the flood of hungry stomachs and beeping cell phones.

Kumoru did his level best to take the stares and such in stride as he made his way down the sidewalk with his newfound companion, the Raevan Lucretia, by his side. The necromancer swore that she must be the pickiest eater he had yet seen, ever, as she had so far turned down all food she had been offered. He had just taken her to the local grocery store, and after leading her down every aisle, she had not even given the faintest hint of being interested in eating anything. She would have to eat something eventually, he was certain, so the sooner he solved this first great mystery she had given him, the better.
It also did not help that she talked even less than Bhel did.
"Come on, Lucretia," he urged gently, trying his best not to lose his patience with her. This really was not her fault. Kumoru was just... ill-prepared for this, and that was one thing he absolutely hated to be. At least he had a plan in mind. "The big grocery is just up ahead. We can see if there's anything there you might like."
Lucretia's head turned to follow every movement that caught her attention as she drifted slowly along with one hand on her guardian's shoulder. The sheer numbers of people worried her a bit, but she was not really sure yet how to voice those concerns. She figured as long as she stuck close to the one person she knew, Kumoru, she would be alright.
As they moved along rather slowly, the necromancer managed to catch sight of a familiar face in the crowd. A familiar face accompanied by another Raevan. Maybe Isi might be able to suggest what he could do to feed his own new Raevan, since Lucretia seemed too fascinated by her current surroundings to offer suggestions.
"Hello," he called, waving with his free hand as he glanced both ways before jay-walking quickly across the street to join Isi, Lucretia in tow.

Hearing the despondent 'hello' thrown in his direction, Isi looked up from where he was adjusting his crutches. A smile spread onto his face like the wings of a butterfly when he recognized the face to be Kumoru, the man he had met when he was first picking up his soul bottle. Not only that, but there was a floating half torso-ed body trailing along after him. The grumpy mood he had been left in when he was turned away from the restaurant evaporated like a mist in the warming air.
"Kumoru! We meet again! How are you? And it looks like your raevan has emerged! Congratulations!" Isi beamed brightly, attempting to wave a crutch at the man.
Isi wasn't the only one to notice the voice from the unfamiliar man and the sight of another raevan. Usually, Eiry was keen on meeting and familiarizing himself with his kindred, bu something 'froze' him in his tracks. As soon as they bustled up to their side of the street and came close enough to see each other clearly, Eiry gave a nervous gulp. His wide bright red eyes were trained on the icy blue raevan. This was certainly no Roux, that was for sure. She was a she, not a he, but they both shared icy qualities. Eiry could feel the chilling mist rise off her body and he found himself staring open-mouthed at the beautiful frei.
Finding himself staring, Eiry could've sworn that he was doing something impolite. He couldn't figure out what though. In fact, he couldn't think. The cat's cradle in his hand went slack. He was just watching her ... Watching ...
"Eiry, this is Kumoru, another raevan owner," Isi said, breaking Eiry's stare of wonder. The young boy watched his frei's odd behavior and furrowed a brow. A smile broke onto his face and he rolled his eyes, "Don't be rude. Say hello."
"Hallo," Eiry choked, not taking his eyes off the icy frei before him. Without thinking, Eiry held out his hands to her, his fingers tangled in a web of string.

We`rika listened mindlessly to his Raevan's ramblings on the people he saw in the grocery store or the sweet salt water taffy his guardian had bought him or what games he'd play when he got home. The Huichol was used to this onslaught of information and thoroughly filtered through Sevilin's yammering. He was carrying two big paper bags of groceries. It had been payday today and We`rika was so happy to be able to buy some new food as opposed to the packets of ramen and crappy a** TV dinners. Sevilin was so lucky he only ate or I guess "absorbed" one or two things.
Even Sevilin had his own plastic bag though it was smaller. He had decided to help his guardian with the groceries, but really his bag contained all of his stuff what with the salt water taffy and flavored water bottles. The little Frei was watching the skyline as he talked and talked, dodging oncoming passersby with ease. It was then that he saw a green boy and.... no body? And there was another! Sevilin's eyes bulged and he stopped on the sidewalk simply staring at the two.
When the shaman's filter began to weed out all that Sevilin was saying, he looked beside himself and froze. Ohhh s**t! He turned around to see if Sevilin was simply slowed down by the crowd, but he wasn't there. We`rika sprinted back the other way til he hit a splash of blue stunned in the middle of the sidewalk. "What are you--?" The guardian followed the watery Raevan's gaze and saw the two Raevans and their owner and-- OH MY SWEET JESUS! He had kissed that one at the festival! He wondered if the kid was still scarred from that experience. Not one to initiate contact, and especially not now with this new information, the two of them just stared like tourists.

Once he and his Raevan were across the street, Kumoru tucked his hands into the sleeves of his robes and bowed to Isi, and then to the green Raevan beside him.
"Hello again, and thank you," the mage said, smiling when he straightened. "The new lady is Lucretia. She just joined the family yesterday."
Kumoru rather thoroughly disliked admitting it when there was something he did not know, so he figured his question could wait. Perhaps he could get the information he needed without directly asking later on.
"Who might you be? I don't believe we've met before," he added, bowing again to Isi's Raevan.
Lucretia's eyes moved to the hand that the other Raevan offered her, then to his face, then back to his hand as she looked vaguely confused for a moment. All of a sudden, she had had all these new things thrust upon her, right away out of the... whatever it was she had come from.
Maybe he just needed help getting the string off? The Raevan took her hand off of her guardian's shoulder - one finger brushed his hear slightly as she did so, causing him to flinch and break out in goosebumps down one arm - then reached out to try to gingerly tug at the string that was tangled around the other Raevan's fingers. She glanced up at him, eyebrows raised, wondering if this was what he wanted.

Surprised by the bow, Isi awkwardly tried his best to imitate the action. It didn't really work, though, with his crutches and all. So he ended up just kind of bowing his head.
"Yesterday, huh?" Isi asked, looking appreciatively at the new frei, "She's still so new! Has she spoken yet? I don't know how the newborns act. You see, my raevan was actually picked up two weeks after he was born. I had a broken leg and we were moving so we had to let him live with at LAB 305 until we could make it down to pick him up."
Staring at the icy raevan in front of him, Eiry hardly even heard the question from Kumoru. He was too busy watching her move and delicately work the tangle of the string off his fingers. He gave her a bright embarrassed smile and when he heard the question, he jumped slightly.
"Eirdirsceol, I am!" he chirped, breaking his gaze from Lucretia. Tilting his head then, Eiry continued, "You can call me Eiry, if you like. It's much easier to pronounce ... Um ... What's your name?"

We`rika began watching Sevilin instead of the Raevan in slight impatience. "Well? Aren' ya gonna say somethin'?"
"Well of course! But they're talking right now... it's rude to interrupt people..." Sevilin nodded confidently using a handy piece of information he learned on the TV.
"Rude? Where th'hell do ya hear this crap?!" Maybe he would have to start monitoring what his Frei watched. "............. Sevilin... I'mma no' gonna wai' here all day..."
"I-I know!" He pouted stubbornly, knowing We`rika was right.
"Okie so go be yer bubbly self! He pinched Sevilin between the wings, receiving a nice yelp and jump from his charge as he mingled into the group.
We`rika influence pushed him right into the middle of the group. He floated back and smiled sheepishly. "Oh... Hi! He offered sweetly, "Eh sorry... I just saw you two from the sidewalk and..." Noticing that he was rambling, the little Frei stopped and giggled.
We`rika on the other hand sort of let the grocery bags hide his face. He'd schmooze if had to, but with that one Raevan there, he was quite hesitant.

"Well, she hasn't said anything yet, but we're working on it." Kumoru smiled at the young woman. "She hasn't really had a chance to meet her brothers and sister back home yet, but I'm sure they'll help her with talking. They're all friendly like that." He glanced upwards for a moment, then ammended his statement: "Well, for the most part."
Since the Raevan was not yet talking, the necromancer figured he should answer the other Raevan's question for her. "I've been calling her Lucretia, and she seems to like that."
Glancing quickly at her guardian before going back to untangling Eiry's string, Lucretia smiled and nodded slightly.
As the group was joined suddenly by two other strangers, though, Lucretia let go of the string and edged over towards her guardian again. She watched them for a moment, then reached out to hook one finger through a loose loop of thread dangling from Eiry's hands, and tugged on it absently, not really noticing whether it was still tied around his fingers or not.
Kumoru peered at the newcomers as well, noticing first the third Raevan and then the one who was apparently with her; the latter appeared to be trying to hide behind his groceries.
"Hello," he said, returning the Raevan's greeting with a small bow. "Have we met?" Though as soon as the words were out of his mouth, the necromancer realized that it was probably a stupid question; these Raevans were apparently not all that common, so it should only be natural that seeing another one, let alone two should be more than enough reason to come over and introduce one's self.

"She'll get the hang of it, I suppose. The raevans learn like sponges suck up water. Eiry didn't learn correct grammar until I had him read books. He did pretty well just listening to me though. I always tho-Oh! Hello!" Isi made a surprised start as two new members careened into the group circle. Well, there was an unfamiliar face. Face? No, faces.
Well, for Isi, the faces might of been unfamiliar. But for Eiry, one face stood out clearly in the misty retreat of his memory.
... Kiss.
Eiry's blood red eyes opened like the passages in his throat, just as he released a terrified yelp. He choked on it though, tugged forward by the gentle pull of the other raevan who was still weaving her fingers through the string. That last pull had pulled off the entire string from his fingers.
He glanced at her and smiled apologetically, "Pardon me, Miss?"
Then, turning to the newcomers, Eiry floated forward and bid the blue floating frei a happy hello, "Hi! I'm Eiry. 'Scuse me..."
Now ... Rivener told him how to handle these situations. You had to get in control. Stand ... Well, float ... Your ground. Brace your chest and puff it out and ... SLAP the opposing member. Narrowing his blood red eyes at We'rika, Eiry pointed a stern finger at him and said, "No kiss! NOT for sale."
Having that taken care of, Eiry went back to Lucretia and took her cold icy hands in his. Taking the string, he began weaving it around her fingers in the appropriate manner to begin cat's cradle. "Play ..."
Isi, on the other hand, was just trying to introduce himself to the other two members when Eiry went and slapped We'rika across the face. Turning to his ward, Isi furrowed his brows angrily, "Eirdirsceol! What was that for? You don't go slapping people when ..."
"He kissed me last time. I didn't want him to do it again. He scared me last time. Now we're even." announced the wispy mint frei.
Rolling his eyes, Isi gave a sigh as he retained his anger and turned towards the other members, "I'm really sorry about that. He's still just a toddler, really. He doesn't understand much about confrontation between people yet. Sorry, about that, sir. Now, what was your name? And hello, little friend," meaning Sevvie, "What's your name?"

Sevilin watched with delight as this green Frei put We`rika in his place. He didn't know what had happened between the two, but he was already on the Raevan's side. That is until Eiry slapped his guardian and the amusement turned into anxiety, not really sure if it was below We`rika to pick a fight with a toddler. He concluded it wasn't.
The shaman tightened his hold on his groceries and stared back at Eiry in wide-eyes fury. His chest rose heavily and his nostrils flared like a bull waiting to charge. We`rika let his groceries fall onto the pavement and stepped over, shadowing Eiry easily. "Techn'cally, you kissed me so les no' play th'victim here... I can' help i' if I'mma allurin' mmmkay?" He sniffed dramatically and caught Sevilin under the arms and held him up, keeping something between him so he wasn't enticed to rawr on someone.
The watery Raevan just laughed, relieved his guardian hadn't socked the poor kid. He patted the Huichol on the cheek and looked back at the others. "Oh! I'm Sevilin. Or Sevvie." he smiled extra large to make up for We`rika's barbaric outburst. "I used to be pretty good keeping up with everyone, but I haven't... been to the lab in awhile... soo I'm a little behind on names!" He let his big blue eyes fall on Eiry and smiled. "You're... Eirdir..." he just kinda trailed off, unable to remember what his guardian had said. The two of them probably looked like a pair of dysfunctional fools. "What's yer name again?"

Lucretia blinked as the thread came free from Eiry's hands; she held it up to examine it more closely, and then started to drape it over her own fingers. It was not too interesting, but it provided some amusement. A faint smile graced her lips as she tugged on one end of the string, causing the whole length of it to slither through the path she had made of her fingers - and since it was a loop, the Raevan could keep pulling on it for as long as she wanted.
Eiry seemed to want his string back, though, and, since he had just slapped one of the ones who had just showed up, she relinquished control of it without complaint. Lucretia held the hand with the string out to him so he could reclaim it, while keeping her free hand close to her face as she gave him a faintly fearful look - she had no idea what he was saying, but she dearly hoped that he would not hit her, too.
She edged away from him slightly as she watched the other Raevan carefully. Two just like here, right here! Lucretia's full attention shifted to the blue one, so that she jumped a little as Eiry took her hands again.
Watching what he did, her brows knit a little in confusion. Whatever game he wanted her to play, Lucretia did not understand it yet. She looked from her hands to Eiry, her lips forming a small "o" shape as she dearly wanted to ask him how to play, but found once again that she had no idea what words were required.
Glancing between the other two Raevan-owner pairs as sharp words and a slap were exchanged, Kumoru took half a step backwards. It was habit to stay out of altercations that were not his own... but it was also obvious that leaving Lucretia behind would be unacceptable. The necromancer crossed his arms and instead watched his Raevan playing with her new friend; whatever had brought on the slapping before apparently had cause behind it, but he still wanted to keep an eye out in case Eiry got violent again for whatever reason.
At least the other Raevan seemed friendly enough, though the mage would have been ashamed to admit that he could not tell for the life of him if the fairy-winged Frei before him was male or female. The name it gave did not help much either way, but Kumoru at least had to return the introduction.
"Nice to meet you, Sevilin," he said, then gestured towards his own Raevan with an upturned hand. "I guess you probably would not have seen this one before because she was just born recently. Her name is Lucretia, and I'm Kumoru, her guardian."

Eiry gave a terrifying frown at We'rika, one that sprouted from the will-o'-wisp soul bound within him. But he didn't want to continue the argument, he had done what Rivener had told him to do to settle scores, and that's all he wanted to do. So, turning his attention to Sevilin, Eiry gave a small smile to Sevilin. He hadn't met this one before. He had seen him around fairs and the like, but he had never gotten the chance to play with him. Eiry liked the way he smiled. "Eir...dir...sceol. Eirdirsceol. But you can call me Eiry, Sevvie. I like you. Do you know how to play Cat's cradle? Wanna play?"
When Lucretia seemed frightened of him, Eiry looked a bit hurt and he shook his head, trying to tell her no, "Don't worry, pretty lady. I won't hurt you. Just We'rika, because he scared me. I'm nice, honest. Here, let me show you...to play Cat's cradle." Eiry pulled the string between his fingers and weaved them in and out, making designs with the string. He showed her each one and gave her soft smiles with each one. Then, when he was done, he nodded at her and helped lace the string betwixt her fingers. He gently moved his hands over hers and helped her learn the different things to do with the string. When she pulled off a design, Eiry laughed his ghastly ghost laugh and nodded proudly, watching her with sincerely happy eyes of blood red.
Isi was in no mood to pick fights today, but if he had to, he was willing to. Just because he was a cripple didn't mean that he couldn't kick some a** if required. But that didn't mean, in any way, that he wanted to do it. Narrowing his eyes at We'rika's reaction to Eiry, Isi growled softly, "He doesn't know what he's doing. I'll take my time to teach him from doing that again, but We'rika if you dare threaten my raevan again, I won't hesitate to take a pound of flesh, got it?" Isi didn't know that he probably looked less than able to do what he claimed he could do. A cripple threatening a street seasoned Huichol? It almost looked laughable! But Isikoro sighed heavily. So he stepped forward a bit and refereed the dying arguement, "Alright...Alright. Sorry, um...Yeah, this is enough. I promise I'll teach Eiry from doing that again. I'll figure out some punishment for him when we get home. What's in the past is in the past." then turning his attention to Sevilin, Isi grinned and bowed his head, "Hello, Sevilin, it is an honor!"

Oh it was ooon now. We`rika's face split into toothy grin as he eyed Isi like a broken mouse just waiting to be eaten. He was about get ghetto on the man's crippled a** before Sevilin shot him a "DON'T RUIN THIS FOR ME!!" look and the Huichol chose his words carefully. "I didn' threaten him, I intimidated him..." As if there was much difference. He just stopped talking and looked elsewhere so the others could talk amiably. Though he couldn't help glancing back at the ice Raevan from time to time. He couldn't help it! She was kinda hot... in that creepy toddler/***** way.
"Ohh Lucretia, Lucreeeetia... Haha that's a fun name to say. Lucretia." The little Frei giggled and waved to her as she didn't seem the talkative type. Sevilin ignored the eye rolling he was getting from his own guardian. His attention shifted to Isi and he smiled brightly. "Nice ta meetcha!" Apparently, he was an honor. The watery Raevan didn't exactly know what that meant, but it sounded good.

Lucretia smiled happily as Eiry showed her how to make a cat's cradle, and did her best to keep the game going. It was fairly easy, at least. She turned to Sevilin as Eiry addressed him, and offered him the thread looped around her fingers. Why was he saying her name over and over again, though? Sevilin seemed happy, at least, though, and also had not slapped anyone, so the icy Raevan edged a little closer towards him.
She studied Sevilin as she held out the string on her fingers, realizing that she was not sure whether he was a boy, or another girl like her.
Keeping silent for the moment so he could just study the more unfamiliar Raevan and his guardian, Kumoru wondered how the pair of them ended up together. Something about Sevilin and the man he had arrived with seemed at best rather incongruent, and at worst possibly incompatible. The necromancer hoped that Lucretia would be able to get along with him.
He got the feeling that, coming in with a soul of some kind already, the Raevans' personalities were considerably more set by the time they... were born, or manifested, or whatever. So Lucretia would be less impressionable. This unsettled Kumoru somewhat, truth be told, but he did not let it show.
Instead, he figured he might as well get to know the fellow Raevan-raisers a little better, and at the same time conveniently thought of something to ask: "Oh, do either of you know what all happened over at the labs? The whole place was kind of destroyed when I stopped by to fetch Lucretia. No one was hurt, I trust?"
