Rules + Explanations

This subforum is for Intermediate RPs that are moved here by our mods. All threads moved here will be stickied, that way any threads created here will fall into oblivion.

DO NOT post your RP here. Post it in the main forum, and it will be moved later to the appropriate place.

Follow ALL Gaia rules. Report any one breaking the rules to me or to the Gaia Moderators. Please do not use the report guild button. That button is for guilds whose owners do not take care of rule breakers or whose staff break the rules themselves.

Any one who does not follow the rules risks having their post/thread deleted without warning.

Where to Post Your RP

We understand that this is a large guild and that you might be wondering how or where to post your RP. Each guild has its own set of rules and this guild may be different from any that you have seen before, so please feel free to post your questions here once you are done reading this thread.

Who Can Start a Role Play?

You may start an RP at any time, no matter your level of experience. You do not need permission. We encourage every one who is interested in starting an RP to read the advice and follow the links that we have for you here in order to get the most out of your RP. We love to see people improving and giving their best when they start or join an RP here.

Where Do I Start My RP?

Every one should start their RP in the main forum of the guild. You can find the main forum by clicking the "Guild Forum" button near the top.

If your RP was moved here, it should be stickied. Please let us know if we moved your RP but did not sticky it.

DO NOT POST RPS in this subforum! They will be moved here if this is the correct level for your RP.

If you post your RP any where besides the main forum, your thread will be LOCKED. Following guild rules makes less trouble for us all.

Where Do I Post an Idea for an RP?
These are considered advertisements and must be posted in the Advertisement subforum. Any ads posted here will either be locked and moved to the deadzone. Undeveloped RP ideas will be treated as fully developed RPs and most likely moved to the beginners level.

How Do I Get My RP Moved Up?
Contact one of our mods AFTER you have made significant changes to your RP that you think should bring you up to the advanced level. DO NOT complain in this sticky about where your RP was moved or tell us here that you have improved it.

Level 2 Basics

A Role Play's level is determined by several categories that each moderator will check before moving your RP. We judge the level of RP by the setup of the RP. The level of the setup will tend to attract players at the same level. However, the players in an RP can raise or lower the level. Please contact us if you believe this has happened in an RP, or if you disagree with where an RP has been placed. Please keep in mind the following guidelines. Just because an RP is "literate" does not mean that it belongs at a higher level.

Technical Writing Category
Intermediate RPs may have some common grammar or spelling mistakes, but these mistakes do not interfere with understanding the setup. All Intermediate RPs use standard punctuation, especially quotation marks ("") and no run-on sentences. All Intermediate RPs capitalize at the beginnings of sentences and for proper nouns.

Preparation Category
Intermediate RPs show a decent amount of preparation, with setups longer than one paragraph. Intermediate setups gives the players a good idea of what kind of characters are needed and what those characters will be doing in the RP. The characters should have a problem or mystery to solve or complete. Intermediate preparation will usually have clear rules for how to join, which usually includes a character profile to fill out.

Style Category
Intermediate RPs should give a clear sense of the tone of the RP. In other words, an Intermediate GM should have the ability to make a comedy a comedy and a horror RP a horror RP. An Intermediate RP should have a decent vocabulary at a high school level.

GM Character(s) Category
Intermediate RPs should have a GM character displayed or a very good opening post with an NPC/character. An Intermediate GM can make characters that do not take the spotlight but still influence the direction of the RP.

Screening Category
Intermediate RPs always screen new players, either by using a character profile or by viewing a sample of RP. Intermediate GMs need to be able to critique characters that do not fit in with the genre, tone, or other details of the RP.

Aesthetics Category
Intermediate RPs usually have a pleasant-looking setup that is easy to read, so that information is readily available to the players.
