It's really tough to say as much as I've experienced a lot of different places.

St. Louis, for example is a great sports city. I've been to St. Louis several times and I have been at Busch Stadium. I've also had the pleasure to go to a few Blues games too. They seem to have pretty good support for their average/poor teams, pro and college. Cardinals fans are pretty amazing though. I know all teams have their set of bad fans, but the Cardinals fans at Busch are very passionate about baseball, very knowledgeable, and respectful. I rarely see that at a lot of baseball parks nowadays, but I can definitely see that every time I go to Busch.

New York is a great sports city as we all know. Their media basically covers all of the teams (even if that's a given). As a passionate New York Rangers diehard, I LOVE going to MSG. The Rangers are a big deal in NY and we're always in the top-10 when it comes to NHL attendance. Obviously, we know how the Yankees are treated in NY. The Knicks are the Knicks, but they have a good following. The Islanders...meh, but hopefully they can get better. In the 80's, they were the best thing in New York especially with their little cup run. Over the years, the Sabres' attendance has improved by a lot and they've had a good fanbase for the past few years. The Mets have a good fanbase too, but when I go to Shea I see a lot of empty seats. Bills, Jets, and Giants fans are very passionate about their respective teams. I can't stand the Jets or most of their fans especially when they do that dumb J-E-T-S chant, but the passion is definitely there.

Philadelphia and Pittsburgh are also great sports cities. Philly fans are VERY passionate about their teams. Even when the Flyers sucked this year, they still had a great crowd every night. Eagles fans can be pricks, but you can see that their passion for their team runs through their veins. That same exact thing can be said about the Steelers fans. Penguins fans are pretty cool too. Pens' attendance may not be the best in the league, but it's still good.

Chicago is a GREAT sports city as well. They love their teams if they are winning or losing, they have passion and history. Their fans rarely sway away, regardless of their winning/losing streaks. The Blackhawks' fanbase could be better, but hopefully their team tastes some success over the next few years. Their college teams are often followed and usually do quite well.

I don't know so much about Dallas. Of course, we know the deal w/ the Cowboys. Teams like the Mavericks, Stars, and Rangers, etc. could win World Championships in the same year and still be considered secondary next to the Cowboys. One may think hockey isn't a big thing in Texas, but guess again. When the Stars rolled into Dallas back in the early 90's, many high school hockey teams, youth teams were popping up around Texas. College-wise, Dallas has done well and much of Texas has too.

Annnnd what to say about Boston? I'll try to make this an unbiased analysis. I basically grew up in Massachusetts/Rhode Island. Boston fans are very passionate about baseball as we already know. Fenway Park is a very, very important landmark not only to Bostonians, but also to all New Englanders. I may be a Red Sox fan, but Fenway Park is an amazing place that everyone should visit in their lifetime. The atmosphere at the park is wonderful. It's a feeling that really can't be described. It's an ancient park, but so many great memories have been made. The Red Sox are #1 in Boston and throughout most of New England. The Patriots are #2 and Pats fans are pretty passionate too. Maybe not as much as Sox fans, but you can see the love for the Pats here in New England. Fans fill Gillette and a lot of the time the love for the Pats is passed down from generation to generation. That was the case for me at least b/c my grandpa had season tickets to the Boston Patriots during the 60's up until the late 80's when the Pats were known as the New England Patriots of course. Bruins are #3, but I can definitely tell you that hockey is a MAJOR thing in Boston. The Bruins may suck, but the passion for the sport of hockey is amazing throughout Boston and the rest of New England. Boston College and Boston University always duke it out in hockey. Both fanbases are rabid and the Beanpot is always the best thing to hit in Boston come early February. High school hockey and prep school hockey is prominent in Boston. In some ways, it seems like there are more hockey players than baseball players living in Boston. Bruins have passionate fans I know that for a fact, but in general hockey is a big deal in New England even if our NHL team is going through some big changes. Then you have the Celtics who have their fair share of fans. It's not the 80's anymore so interest in the Celts has gone down and the Boston media could really give a crap about the Celts or the Bruins for that matter. Basically, the media in Boston cares mainly about the Sox and Pats. Honestly, I can't blame them, but there is still somewhat coverage of the Celts and Bruins regardless of what the Sox and Pats are doing. I've already kinda touched base on our college teams. I think when you talk about Boston sports you must include all of New England. I'm sure any New Englander can back me up on this.

As for worst..I'm not quite sure about this one. One would have to define what they mean by "worst sports city". You either talk about the fanbase or the actual teams/colleges that suck. One could put down Phoenix, but then you have to look at the Suns. However, the D-Backs suck and they don't really have a great fanbase there. Houston is pretty bad as well especially w/ how the Texans have done along with the 'Stros. And I don't really like Astros fans anyways. My point is you have to define what you mean by worst. Are you basing it on the success of a city's professional teams? or are you basing it on the fanbases?

I could go on and on. Maybe I will tomorrow when I'm not half asleep. 3nodding My two cents right there.

I don't know so much about Milwaukee. The Brewers do have a good fanbase though. Their tailgating is amazing 3nodding

Green Bay has some passionate fans too. Wisconsin Badgers fans love their sports especially football and hockey. We all know how the Packers are treated in Green Bay. EVERYONE loves the Packers in that city and elsewhere in Wisconsin. Heck, the team isn't owned by one person it's own by many, many people. I think that's one of the great reasons why the Packers are so popular in Green Bay. Not to mention getting a ticket into Lambeau can take years and years.

KC has some good fans too, but that's mainly for the Chiefs. Not so much the Royals anymore.

I beg to disagree with you there.

Being a half-season ticket holder, I went to 21 games this past season, and yes, at the beginning of the year, the house wasn't packed. Then the Pens started winning. I believe they had a streak of 11 or 13 standing room only sell-outs, plus they had at least 5 to 6 more throughout the remainder of the season. It's amazing what winning streaks do.

Like I said, every game I went to during January onward to the end of the season was barely a capacity crowd or at the standing room only capacity. The only thing that sucked about it was instead of the student rushers that came to the building for games, (loud, very passionate college students. You can't beat showing your student ID and getting into the game for twenty dollars.), there were a bunch of white-collar workers who did nothing but sit on their hands the entire game.

On an aside, I have to say some of the worst fans I've seen are either Buffalo fans or Toronto fans. Buffalo fans were rude as hell, even cursing at little children. Toronto fans.... oh, what can I say about that? The last game we went to against Toronto there were five separate fights in the stands. Because the Leafs fans were getting agitated that the Pens were slaughtering the Leafs on the ice. But, it's like a sports columnist said; "Getting into a fight with a drunken Maple Leafs fan is the hockey equivalent to cow tipping."

Going by numbers based on ESPN's NHL attendance list, Pittsburgh did have PCT of 93.2. That's not too shabby if you ask me, but it could be better. I do think that there are some passionate Pens fans out there or at least the ones I've been able to get to know on Gaia and in real life. Things are slowly improving though. I remember in 02-03, the Pens weren't selling at all, $20 could get you a damn good seat.

http://www.pittsburghlive.com/x/pittsburghtrib/news/breaking/s_514883.html

Overall, Pittsburgh is a good sports town and a good hockey town too. Plus, how could anyone not get excited with the way the team is going?

As for Toronto fans..not a big fan of them. I've met good Toronto fans though then I've ran into pretty bad ones. Buffalo fans do piss me off especially a lot of Sabres fans in this world. A lot of them tend to whine and whatnot. Buffalo, itself has gone through pretty bad moments in sports history.

You can look into That 70's Show and find good insight about the Packers. They portray it very well in show, especially like how hard t is gto get tickets and how die-hard the fans are.

And i completely agree with your comment abotu Fenway. It is a true baseball place. Like my uncle said, it is not a stadium, it's a park; a true place of baseball. Every time i walk into that place i get a warm fuzzy feeling. It just feels great being in there. And i've been to the Boston Gardens too, and you just don't get the same feeling.

I would compare Fenway's atmosphere to the atmosphere I get when I walk into Madison Square Garden to watch a Rangers game. Like Fenway, MSG is ancient, has so much history, memories all packed into it. It's an amazing place. 3nodding

As for the Boston Garden/Fleet/TD Banknorth, I have a lot of memories from the old garden. Those experiences can never, ever be duplicated when it was Fleet or now TD Banknorth. At the same time I was glad when the garden was torn down though. Then again, considering all the events that happened at the Fleet, I do miss the place. Now, I'm not a Bruins fan, but I did go to a lot of Bruins games at the old garden. Every time the Bruins soared in the garden was the place that absolutely erupted.

I actually went to Game 2 of the 1990 Wales Conference finals against the Caps. The energy that was in the old garden was pretty amazing. It was just like MSG now and in the past. That game still brings chills down my spine too.

Nothin' beats a summer game at Fenway Park though. I've been to Yankee Stadium, Shea, Busch, etc. in the summer and they're not comparable.

I'm not completely sure which city is the worst sports city, since there are so many different cities with different amounts of teams. But I don't think it's Milwaukee, at least this year. The thing that saves them is the fact that they're in first place in their divison, even though the Cubbies are closing in. I'd say Kansas City, but the Chiefs are pretty good recently, even though the Royals suck. I'd have to say either Oakland or TB, at least this year.

yeah I think its Oakland, even though I'm an A's fan

I mean it has competitive teams and all, but we Oakland teams always get overshadowed by their big-market San Francisco teams across the Bay
