It was early afternoon, the sun lifting well above in the sky and casting a dry heat to all those in it's path. Below, in the prosperous world of the Pridelanders, a young cub tried his hardest to stare up at the heat. It was stupid indeed, and he could only do it for a few moments, but Varuna had an idea. He saw adults do it before, and maybe if he narrowed his own eyes, the sun would go away. Pity it only seemed to make him want to run.
Lowering his cheeks with a dark huff, he blinked away the glaring spots that dotted his vision. Glancing around a second later, he studied the grasses and moved closer to the dens, as fast as his little paws could go. Maybe he would run into his siblings, and it might just help his mind stray from the sun above.
It was way too hot to glare at the sun anyway.

It was only early afternoon, and Mafuriko was bored. It seemed to him that his entire family had gone off without leaving him an idea of where to find them if he wanted to. So he'd decided to hide out near the den and wait to ambush whoever returned first, and inititally this plan worked well but soon his enthuasiasm faded away. This left him laying boredly in the grass, grumbling about how no one was around.
Just as he was about to get up and go find someone new to play with, he caught sight of a familiar cub heading his way. It took him a second to react, but he ducked back down again, making another attempt at an ambush even though now it was likely that he'd been seen as well.

Luckily, or unluckily in the case of a certin gold and white cub, Mafuriko had not been caught sight of dispite his creamy red coat. Varuna was a bit distracted, and even still blinded, so as he walked towards the den he had not a clue. Instead, his mind wandered to focus on the heat that he was slowly getting used to, and the fact he needed to find shade and hopefully get a nice long cat nap.
Yawning at the idea, his lips smacked a bit and he nodded slightly to himself. With a catnap under his belt, he could focus back onto the playful nature all the cubs seemed to have inherited in their family. Slowing his steps as the grasses shortened, his tail waved and he took a look around.
"All clear..." He murmered softly to himself, a bit surprised at the fact people were missing from the family dens. Shrugging, he thought nothing after that and just continued the last few steps to the redeeming shade.

Riko grinned micheviously as it seemed that Varuna had not noticed him, and he peeked through the grass anxiously as his brother got closer and closer. Even if he had noticed how tired Varuna was, it was unlikely that it would have changed the cub's plans. Hidden where the grass was long enough to at least give Riko the impression that he was invisible, it didn't take long for Varuna to get within range and- conveniently- slow down.
"Haha!" he laughed to himself, too loud to keep himself concealed. Immediately, to try to correct the mistake, he leapt out of the grass aiming for his tired brother.

His ear perked at the sound, and he turned to see a flying ball of lemony yellow fur the slammed into his side. However, he knew exactly who it was, and so he let out his own playful rowl and worked to get out of the open position he was forced in.
When he was struck, he had fallen to his back, so he pulled out his dull cub claws and used them to grip to his brother, before trying to roll over. All the while, he playfully continued to try and battle for control over Mafuriko.

Nothing less was expected from his older brother as Mafuriko tumbled to the ground with Varuna and they struggled, one for control and the other to keep it. Riko found it difficult to keep his balance with his brother struggling to roll over, falling over to the side and putting the brothers on equal ground.
"I got yooou," Riko taunted with a smug grin, though this took some of his focus off of keeping the fight from turning against him.

Taking advantage and not speaking, Varuna quickly used the momentum of the roll to push on top of Mafuriko with a triumphent smerk. With a matter of seconds, he had his tail waving while his hind legs and rear planted steadily upon his brother's stomach.
"Hardly," He said with a playful grin, showing no hard feelings before he jumped off his brother's chest and giggled.
"Where is everyone Mafu?" He asked as he got his grounds, a bit winded from their struggles and playing.

Mafuriko yelped as Varuna suddenly turned the fight all the way around and declared himself winner by ending the fight before Mafuriko could retaliate. When Varuna hopped away, Mafuriko growlled to show his intention to try again- but the question distracted him from it.
"I don't know," he puffed up importantly, despite his lack of knowledge, "Don't you know?"

Varuna was at a loss of words at the retaliation of his brother and let his ears drop a moment, before he sent a little narrow of his eyes. Maybe it would work on Mafu.
"Excuuuuse me," He said with a large huff, before it was over and he looked around again, "Maybe we can go look for them?" It was innocent as Varuna tried to see if anyone was close, more excited with the chance to explore than find his parents. He never got much time to see all of the lands before his mother came adn got him.

Mafuriko made an attempt to glare back at his brother, but found when trying to hard it just hurt his eyes. Shaking his head, he considered the suggestion of going to find them.
"Hmm! Ok!" he agreed, "But I'll lead the way."
Not an unusual action for the cub, trying to take charge. He looked around and hopped past Varuna into the direction opposite where he'd come from.
"This way," he said bossily.
