Name: Charles Maximilian LeFerber
Age: 18
Beast of Choice: Humanoid merman, Swordfish base
Birth date: May 26th, 1990
Height: 5’ 8”
Weight: 154 lbs
Hair Color: Gelled Bl*nde with Green Fringes (from chlorination, hair gel and seawater)
Eye Color: Brown
Sexuality: Straight
Ethnicity: Austrian-American, suntanned-white
Appearance: Short bl*nde hair with green tinges, flipped up in a gravity defying style (carefully arranged daily with buckets of hair gel). He has light brown eyes, and suntanned skin. His face is seemly, and his only flaw is his lower jaw protrudes ever so slightly out from his upper jaw, however barely noticeable. As a whole he takes very good care of himself hygienically and physically. His build is a very athletic one, he is both a swimmer and runs track, and works out a lot to keep his body fit. He walks around in flip-flops year round, and wears sleeveless white shirts, and shorts. He wears shades and has a cowry shell necklace. Often he will wear a bathing suit out in public, whether he is going to beach or a pool later or not. He carries his own designed surfboards around with him a lot, and occasionally brings them to his school on Hatteras Island.
Weaknesses or Allergies: : Charles is allergic to alcohol and straw, and has mild asthma brought about by his vigorous activities. He doesn’t always need a fast-acting inhaler but when he does it’s in his backpack.
Personality: Put in laymen’s terms he is a surfer dude. He has an extremely laid back personality, yet seems to come out on top every time. He is generally happy and fun loving, and at the same time is one of the most informal people you will ever meet, (except a LAX Bull) and talks in surfer slang quite often. He understands however when he needs to focus in on something and act responsible. He may act with abandon and carelessness, but he is by no means stupid and acts with dedication and intent when he needs to. He also is not easily angered, but when he is, he can be particularly fierce. He is also not a jock, while successful in surfing, swimming and running, he is inept at every other sport. Charles detests football and lacrosse players (He say’s it’s a chick’s sport and they call them selves LAX bulls).
Likes: Swimming, track, fish, Art, music, surfing, his hometown, ancient history (up to the renaissance, he starts to lose interest after the reformation), mythical creatures, and marine Biology.
Dislikes: Math, (Good lord!), his high school lacrosse & football teams team, ditzy females, emo kids (why are they always so sad? Life really isn’t that bad), Math teachers, Chemistry, did I mention math?
Nicknames: Nicknames: Charlie (thanks to a stupid animation his name is mollified) or Chuck
Family: Maximilian & Suzanne LeFerber, only child, an d his grandparents have all passed away except for his paternal grandfather, Karl (Charles) LeFerber who lives in Austria.
History: Born on may 26th 1990 to an average family, in the town of Hatteras in North Carolina. He was named after his grandfather, and he is the only child given to his parents, Suzanne and Maximilian LeFerber. He had a normal childhood, he swam on summer and school based teams for his elementary, middle and high schools. In his freshman year of high school he was persuaded to join the track team, which he did, and found it, works greatly with his swimming.
Ivan, his Russian swim coach took him out when he was ten to watch him surf, and since then he became entranced with it. He learned how to surf over a course that Ivan held, and then continued to do it for fun ever since. He entered a few contests, and placed in a rare few, but he never did better then a bronze medallion. It never got him down, as he did it for fun. He eventually moved up to bigger waves, and sometimes he does to the point of plausible danger to himself.
His father was a microbiologist, and his mother sold artwork and jewelry. While his parents toiled away to make his life better then theirs were, and money was never tight, but the never spent lavishly either. He got a job at the age of fifteen as a lifeguard, and continued to work in both pools and beaches year round. He has been recertified as many times as he needed to be, and he pays the fee out of his own pocket. Occasionally he entered surfing contests for prize money, but was never bummed out when he never won any. His parents both came to watch all of his meets and his competitions, his father is usually there when he needs help with his math homework, (and that is often), while his mother encourages him in his artwork.
His father is an extremely devout man, he does not drink, and he attends mass regularly. His mother is also Catholic, but her view of it was far more laidback, which is why Charles is as he is. He is semi religious, he doesn’t cite the bible, (heck he’s never read it) but he attends mass on sunday.
As for his romantic life, he has had no problem getting a lady to love him, but he refuses any form of "fooling around" until after marriage. All of the g*rls he dated he found too quickly were self-absorbed or stupid, and the ladies he wanted to date for their personality or just them shunned him for being a jock.
So here he stands, just turned eighteen, falling in and out of relationships he can’t stand, and he is an accomplished swimmer, track runner and surfer.
Educational prowess: Scholastically Charles is a moderate student. He is extraordinarily proficient in marine biology courses and ancient history counterbalance by a massive weakness in math and science. Charles is a very artistically gifted person however and is always drawing out mythical creatures for design on his surfboards. He can make connections and usually can learn from his mistakes.

Extracurricular Activities for his high school: Spring Track (Hurdles and Cross country) and Varsity Swim team. (He didn't make captain on either)
Classes for his second semester Senior year Schedule: 1. AP Classical History 2. Classical literature 3. Advanced Geometry 4. Lunch 5. Study hall 6. Ap Oceanography 7. Honors Marine Biology 8. Art major II
What He Has: His usual getup, Sunglasses, necklace His surfboard A black back backpack Car and house keys Black wallet leather wallet with a sizeable amount of money inside Driving license His sketch book and a blank journal; that his mom bought him, though he never uses A few sketching pencils, a sharpener and a few pigment liners
The Pukka: As for the pukka it is his necklace. Given his dedication to sports and activities, his Cowry shell necklace would be right under his nose all along. It has no significance, but he wears it daily, and it has become his "ascot" so to speak. As it is his nature not to buy jewelry, the only way Charles could possibly obtain it is by chance. He found it oddly enough lying on the beach when he lost his first surfing contest, the owner was nowhere insight, and when he tried to give to the lost in found they told him that it was his and to keep it.
The Reason for the animal?: As for Charles’ connection to the merfolk, he lives on the beach and spends more of his time on or in the water then he does on land in the summer. More often than not he feels like if he stopped moving he would die, like a fish (though he can stop in the changed form.) The Swordfish is a very fast and athletic animal, much like Charles’s daily life.

The Fish:
Swordfish (Xiphias gladius)
Physical Characteristics The swordfish has a stout, fairly rounded body and large eyes. The first dorsal fin (rising from the back of the fish) is tall and crescent-shaped. The second dorsal fin is quite separate from the first and very small. Both are soft-rayed—having thin, bony rods that extend from the base of the fin and support the fin membrane. The a**l fins approximate the shape of the dorsal fins, but are noticeably smaller. Ventral fins, found on the underside of fish, are absent. There is a strong, longitudinal keel, or ridge, on either side of the caudal peduncle (the base of the tail where the tail fins project from), which leads to a broad, crescent-shaped tail.
The swordfish snout elongates into a true sword shape. Measuring at least one-third the length of the body, it is long, flat, pointed, and very sharp. The lower jaw is much smaller, though just as pointed, ending in a very wide mouth.
Swordfish coloration varies greatly among individuals. The dorsal side can range from dark brown to grayish-blue. This dark shading can extend anywhere from halfway down the side to almost the full extent of the body. The remaining area of the skin is tinged silvery white.
In Northeast waters, only the spearfish bears any resemblance to the swordfish. It is distinguished from the swordfish by its rounded sword, small teeth, a long, continuous dorsal fin, and ventral fins.
Size Swordfish are very large fish. Today, the average fish caught in the commercial fishery weighs between 90 and 150 kilograms (1 kilogram equals 2.2 pounds). While fish over 200 kg are unusual, the largest recorded in the North Atlantic ocean weighed 550 kg. The largest fish to be caught on a tackle weighed 274 kg. These larger fish measure approximately 4.5 meters in length (1 meter equals 3.3 feet)—with a 3 meter body and a 5 meter sword.
Longevity Swordfish reach maturity at about 2 to 3 years of age, and live for at least nine years. While they may survive longer, no such documentation exists. The majority of swordfish caught in the North Atlantic sport fishery are thought to be 4 to 5 years old.
Distribution Swordfish are pelagic fish—living within the water column rather than on the bottom or in coastal areas. They are typically found at depths of between 180 meters and 580 meters, and are found worldwide in temperate and tropical waters. They are believed to prefer waters where the surface temperature is above 15°C (58°F), although they can tolerate temperatures as low as 10°C (50°F). There seems to be some correlation between larger size and the ability to tolerate colder temperatures. Few fish under 90 kg are found in waters less than 18°C (64°F). Swordfish are summer and fall visitors to New England waters, entering the warming Atlantic coastal waters from far offshore in the Gulf Stream around June and departing in late October. Evidence suggests that such onshore-offshore seasonal migrations are more prevalent than are migrations between the northern feeding areas off Cape Hatteras and the southern spawning grounds off Florid and the Caribbean.
Behavior Swordfish are not schooling fish. They swim alone or in very loose aggregations, separated by as much as 10 meters from a neighboring swordfish. They are frequently found basking at the surface, airing their first dorsal fin. Boaters report this to be a beautiful sight, as is the powerful jumping for which the species is known. This jumping, also called breaching, is thought by some researchers to be an effort to dislodge pests, such as remoras or lampreys. It could also be a way of surface feeding by stunning small fish as they jump out of the water, making the fish more easily captured for food.
