[-insert Image of Szalka, bones pack Shaman- ;D this will be fun!]

The Shamaness from the Bones pack was out for a leasurly stroll. She wanted to get away from Irons and the pack. None of them would care, well... they'd be pissed if she didn't come back in time for them to congradulate her more on a job well done, but screw them. She continued to try and socialize, only to be scrutinized and called upon as what she was. The last of a line that deserved no life. The daughter of an old line of leaders the pack hated, so therefore, she too was hated. Even in their congradulations they scrutinized her.

Last night had been the ceremony and she was now out gathering some herbs just on the edges of the packlands. Sure she could take hours looking for the rare herbs in the packlands, but out here, they were a bit more common, and she was less likely to run into other members, maybe Skue, the hired stalker he was, or Irons, the one she most dreaded seeing before she had calmed herself into a state of clarity. He would cause her the most stress now, but it couldn't be avoided... maybe she could do the clarity enducing trance here? No, she'd be too vulnerable, and in her Clarity, who knew what she could do, she needed to be in an area that was familiar to her...

Irons was actually suprisingly close to Szalka, though he wasn't aware of it. His mind was elsewhere, thinking about the previous night's ceremony. Everything had gone, in short, perfectly. He was suprised, Szalka had proved to be an even better Shaman than her mother before her. If the spirits wern't happy, Irons had no idea what else to do, short of returning to sacrificing someone from the pack or an enemy pack. Either way, his own haunting ghosts had quieted since the previous nights.

Was his mother's spirit peaceful now that her son had full control of his pack, in both the physical and spiritual world? Perhaps. Or perhaps she was merely luring him into a false sense of security, as she had been so good at doing when she was alive.

Ieona... He had no idea how to deal with the one ghost that still seemed to haunt him. And he would be damned if he told Szalka about her. Yet. Perhaps later... after he had known her longer, but for now he would use that ghost to his advantage. A driving force that would make him do whatever it took to keep his position. And sooner or later... that would mean finding a mate, or at least having pups to secure an heir.

Problematic.

After securing the herbs in a pile and burrying them for later use, Szalka fell into a hunting trance. She had been with out food for a few days, and when she heard the sound of footsteps and saw a bush rustle, she crouched low and was prepared to attack. Heaven only knows she had no idea it was her pack leader she was hunting. When she fell into trances her sences did tend to get mixed up, and she wasn't really smelling her preys scent.

So after tracking the other for a while, she leapt out from her hidden spot in a bush and pinned the male down, her fangs bared, but as soon as she felt him hit the ground, her trance fell and she stared in horror down at her alpha. The one wolf she hadn't wanted to see. She stared down at the male for a moment before quickly jumping off of him.

"Irons... I... I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention to what I was hunting..." She said in a breathless voice. Her visions from the ceremony had been very confusing, and had involved Irons. She knew not what to make of the, only that something dramatic would happen between her and him, whetehr it be violent, or other wise, was a mystery.

"Idiot..." Irons hissed, standing back up, but mostly he was furious with himself. How could he have let his guard down that much? Things on his mind or not, there was no excuse, NO EXCUSE for the letting that... that woman sneak up on him, "What on earth do you think you're doing running around like that? What if I had been one of the others, you might have damn well killed someone." Anger didn't even describe what he was feeling, but he was in no mood to deal with Szalka and her antics.

To think, for a second he had actually believed that he might be able to find a way to get along with her! So much for that brilliant plan.

Szalka looked away from him, her mind still reeling from the happenings of last night. She snorted as her apology was shrugged off as if it wasn't given. "I said I was sorry. It's just I haven't eaten in weeks..." She snarled at him. How could she even think for a moment something other then dissagreement would errupt between the two. "And I have enough control to not go in for the bite if I realize that my prey is larger then I, or of the same species."

She glanced back at him and frowned. She had hoped after last ngihts preformance he'd be more willingly inclined to treat her with respect and decency. Well, that was silly of her to think. Maybe she was better off just leaving. She'd secured a good year for the pack, they could probably find a Shaman by then, not as good as her, but just as well. But then, did she want to just give up?

Irons sighed, somewhat annoyed, but he composed himself quickly. He was going to make an effort. He had already promised himself that. Szalka was a good shaman. There was no denying that. Losing her would be bad... "Come on then. We'll find you something you can eat without being forced to turn to canabalism." he decided, going for the diplomatic route. Besides, he couldn't really let her starve.

Not eating for weeks was bad enough. He couldn't very well have her go and die on him. No... no that would have to be avoided. She had proven herself as a shaman. He owed her a meal at the very least.

The Shaman felt her pride kick in, but she knew she was too hungry to decline. Which left in a very hard position. Should she show her grateful side and accept, or be a stubborn a** and go hunting alone, only to more then lightly pass out of exhustion. She thought it over a moment then sighed and took a few steps towards him.

"I'm only agreeing because I'm too tired to hunt on my own right now..." She wanted to make it clear she wasn't weak and could hunt for herself. What would Irons think of her if she proved she couldn't even hunt? Bah, what did she care? He was jsut the arrogant cocky, self confident and obnoxious alpha she decided to serve under.

She paused in thought. She then realized she did care what he though. But had no idea why. It must have been because she wanted to keep ehr position in this pack. To follow in the steps of her mother... minus the whole mating the alpha... or did she?

Irons sighed and very nearly stopped then and there, "Szalka... I know you don't like me. The feeling is fairly mutual, but when someone offers to help you hunt, when you're starving to death from not eating for weeks... don't even bother with the brave face. It doesn't prove anything. The ceremony last night proved something." which in Irons' universe was about as close to a compliment as someone could get. Direct praise was something he reserved for wolves who deserved it.

Sure, Szalka had deserved it... now, but as per usual her unyeilding, stubborn, stuck-up self had forced pride to rear it's ugly head. Well, perhaps not ugly, for Szalka was quite pretty in Irons' opinion. She just acted far too... too much like his equal, instead of someone serving his interests.

At the compliment, for that was what she took it as, she seemed to grow less unyeilding and less dominating. She avoided eye contact and followed him in silence, not entirely sure what she should say. IT was true, she was stubborn, and she supposed this frustrated Irons, but it was her nature. She was the one member of her family who survived and to her, that made her a survivor, and she disliked taking orders, though now, she was starting to realize it wasn't a matter of allowing others to boss her around, but knowing Irons was suppose to.

Finally she spoke, "So you did enjoy it last ngiht? The ceremony?" She asked curiously. It really had been the first ceremony she had preformed for a pack, but she had been told by her mother how to preform it, and all the otehrs she'd need to do as Shaman. And though they had complimented her and been kind to her last night, she wasn't sure if she'd made Irons content with her preformance. Sure she knew the spiritas would be happy, maybe they'd ask for a sacrifice soon, but that could easily be arranged.

Irons paused, almost considering lying about it, but in the end he didn't really see the point. She was a good shaman. A very good shaman. With her, it was unlikely that anyone would be able to beat the Bones Pack in battle. Better than her mother, and she could appease the spirits... no, no point in lying. More conflict would only cause problems in the long run, which was not something Irons wanted to deal with.

"I would be lying if I said I wasn't impressed. You are a good Shaman, Szalka. Better than, I would say, even your mother," with that he kept walking though, only hoping that the truth would have it's desired effect.

Think logically and try not to argue. So long as Szalka keeps her place, I have no reason to dislike her...

And the beast was then tamed, for now. That had done the trick, with that praise the shaman was feeling less likely to argue with Irons. All it took to really calm her, or win her over was compliments. As she had been denied that as a pup, she relished the few she got now adays. "I m glad I could appease my alpha." She said in a much gentler tone then she had ever used with Irons. Perhaps the only one who had heard this tone would have been Skule when he agreed to escort her to the territory.

She supposed, now, that Irons wasn't as bad as she thought. He often did make her angry, but she supposed she had the same effect on him at times. The shaman only hoped they could soon work as partners for the betterment of the pack.

"And I bet you thought I was going to raise evil spirits and cause famine and drought, didn't you?" She said with a smirk as she glanced over at Irons. She honestly couldn't blame him if he said he had. Szalka had considered it, but decided she only argued with Irons, and it would be nfair to make an entire pack suffer just so she could say, 'haha you lose' to one wolf.

"I admit I was... concerned, for quite some time before the ceremony," Irons admitted thoughtfully, "It is nice to know that those thoughts were... quenched, shall we say? Last night. It is good to know that we have an expert shaman to go with our... recovering pack. I am sure that, should you will it, you could become a permanent and respected figure in this pack, if you put the effort into it. You've already proven that you can do your job. Now you just need to prove that you're willing to forget the past," Irons smirked, "I've never really been one to care where wolves come from, so long as they prove to be useful in the end. That, you have done."

Irons hadn't ever been particularily wary of Szalka because of her background. No. It had been mainly her personality that had annoyed him. Her possible-goal of seeking vengence had been a minor irritation to him, in comparison to her disrespect. And it seemed that he had found the key to getting past that.

"I have no hard feelings about the fall of my father, only of my brothers, but, the spirits yeilded to none and I was the only one left. So, I cannot contest the will of the spirits. They wished for you and you alone to claim alpha-ship of this pack, and I do respect that." She said as her ears flickered forward at the sound of a rustling bush. She glanced to Irons and lowered herself to the ground and slowly made her way to the place of the noise, lifting her nose to catch a scent of the thing that had made the bush move.

Now that the two could indeed prove to carry on a conversation without threats of death, or leaving the pack were arising, Szalka found she was growing more respectful and fond of her Alpha. She had always thought him a fine specimen for an alpha, but always a bit too head strong, it only seemed he was that way when she came around. Now that their arguing had ceased for the time, she realized he was an outstanding alpha, and she felt her self a bit drawn to him. Though she'd never admit it, god forbid he think she liked him or something. Which she didn't.

Irons let out an absent laugh, "I wouldn't be suprised if my mother's spirit was the main rabble-rouser on that account," he then quieted as he also heard the sound of something moving through the bushes. He moved around behind the noise, so it wouldn't get away between the two of them.

He would never admit it, but he was glad they were finally managing not to want each other dead at the end of every sentence. When Szalka wasn't acting like she owned his pack, she actually wasn't so bad, and had some good things to say. When she tried to boss him around, he usually ignored her. Now he found that he was actually interested.

Szalka spotted a young doe grazing with her back to the bush, she gave a side ways glance at Irons and awaited for him to give her the signal to attack. She wasn't use to pack hunting, but she suppoosed it wasn't too difficult. One would distract the prey and drive it to the other while the one in hiding, whom the prey was being herded too, would attack.

The only real concern Szalka had about Irons, was that he would wait too long to have pups, or find a mate. When Szalka's father was the alpha, the alpha was male, and had to pick a mate and could only have legitimate heirs with said wolf. She had no idea how Irons would change this tradition, or who he'd pick as his mate. She knew there were only a few females in the pack. Herself, and the huntress. And the little bit of her that was like her father, was hoping that no silly huntress would become the mother of the future pack leader.
