Shishio stared off at the horizon, his mind long since wiped of all thought. He reveled in the simple pleasure of watching the seagulls as they soared through the skies, catching the ocean's breeze, letting their bittersweet calls rise to the heavens. He gazed with a lover's passion at the rolling waves, deep indigos and vibrant blues swirled into the perfect mixture of dark and light, barely visible white foam forming on the tips of the waves that would soon crash upon the flesh-toned sand. And all from a slightly higher viewpoint than that many Soquili would dare to seek.

The stallion was standing upon the very tip of a high cliff along the beach's edge. The ground was slowly crumbling beneath him, tiny bits of sandstone tumbling to join the vast stretch of true sand below. Tree and shrub had not spread their roots in this ground, a clear warning to those who payed attention to such things that the cliff was not safe. But Shishio, always seeking to view things in a new light even at his own expense, venturing to the far reaches of sparsely-vegitated land to see if anyone needed his help... he would deal with such mundane things as falling down a cliff when the time came.

That time was now.

The last bits of sandstone crumbled beneath his front hooves sending his upper body jolting down the smoothly-arcing cliff. Nature and luck were on his side on this day; the cliff curved down to meet the beach, steep enough to discourage those below from attempting to scale it... and yet soft enough to allow one on the top to come down safely.

Shishio's feet flew in a wild dance as he avoided jagged rocks sticking up in his path. A tumbling of sandstone bits followed him down, sometimes racing ahead of him. He was at a speed that could be called a gallop for it's sheer momentum, but did not possess the smooth and careful beat that was to be expected from such. His tail flew out behind him like a flag, adding an almost noble air to his harried descent.

With one smoothly-exectued jump, Shishio's hooves at last touched the sand. He shooks his head, peering up with a sheepish grin; well... at least he was whole.

Sugarberry was taking a nap on the sand near the sea border. It was one of her favorite place, salt air, waves song... everything was perfect on this day. Even the sun was soft and warm.

But suddenly she heard something which was not the sea sound, it was something breaking. She looked arround to see what it was. Looking upper she saw it was the cliff which broke and there was..... a stallion falling.

She stood up on her legs, unable to do anything she could just looked at the stallion coming in her direction, jumping here and there to avoid jagged rocks.

She felt releived when he touched the sand.

Shishio shook his mane once more, sending the last bits of rubble that had clung stubbornly to the thick hair flying. His ebon-grey eyes shone with the excitement of one who has just run a marathon and won; his tail was held high as he trotted with high-spirited sass towards the ocean. The sheepish grin still played upon his face in this moment of almost foal-like glee, at odds with the face and body that was so obviously male.

His eyes half-heartedly scanned the beach without really paying much attention to the detail; if he found someone else in his search, then he would redirect his attention to being gentlemanly and well-mannered. If not, then he would not let lack of company get to him and instead take a brisk run through the crashing waves.

He found what he so offhandedly searched for in the form of a mare with worry printed upon her sweet face. She was white of coat and bore a bright-red mane and tail as well as what seemed to be a strawberry pattern upon her side.

Shishio stopped, and the change that went about him was almost magical even in it's simplicity: his eyes seemed to swirl, resettling about in their depths before resting upon a kind and comoforting glow; his neck arched slightly; his ears twisted about to face her, to see her reaction and gauge if she wanted company or not; his tail swished once before resting in it's normal never-quite completely still position; and he bowed.

A subtle inclination of his neck morphed into a full-on nose-in-the-dirt (though not literally) display, one leg bent to allow for this odd (and yet graceful) movement.

The mare looked at the stallion with worry. Apparently he seemed fine but she was not sure. Now she saw him better than when he fell from the cliff. He was white with strange purple marks and purple hair, tail.

She decided to go seeing if he was fine but before she was able to move she saw him bowing. She was really surprised. The stallion just fell and he bowed ? What a strange stallion.

But she finally regained her spirit and switched her tail she went on his side to be sure everything was alright.

She ran softly to catch his side and looking at him with her deep blue eyes and with her soft voice she asked :

"OMG, are you alright ???? Not hurt you sure ???"

Shishio came out of the bow to stare at the approaching mare with a somewhat bemused and puzzled look in his eyes. A smile teased at the corners of his lips even though his forehead was puckered in the beginnings of a frown... He did not quite know what to make of this mare: she had the most amusing speech pattern he had ever heard, and that included those with accents, and had used the strangest expression to greet him with... Oh Em Gee? He did not know what it meant... perhaps she was not from around here?

"Oh Em Gee to you as well." He shook his head quickly. "No. I am not hurt at all." He turned in a quick circle to show her that he still had all of his limbs and that none had even the smallest fleck of blood.

The mare looked at him. She felt reassured when she saw he was alright.
"Great, i was afraid when i saw you falling." Then she realised she was a little impolite because he bowed and she didn't even replied. She nodded and with a calmest voice she introduced herself.
"Sorry, I'm Sugarberry. Nice to meet you"

A flicker of a smile reached his mouth when she confessed to being afraid for him. "No reason to worry." He spoke subconsciously, not even realizing that he had responded to her until his lips closed on the last syllable. He would not pretend that he had not been worried; as he fled down the cliff and met obstacles he almost didn't see before it was too late, he had been worried. To not be worried would be to be cocky, arrogant, to sure of one's own power. He was none of those things.

"It is a pleasure to meet you, Sugarberry." The smile was real this time. Her name, unlike those that seemed to be pulled from a hat, suited her.

The young mare smiled happy. Switching her tail in the sand. She looked at him waiting for his name actually. But he didn't seemed to want to give it to her. "And how i can call this adventurous stallion ?" she winked.

Shishio's face fell; hadn't he already...?

He replayed the moments leading up to this one in his mind: staring off into space... cliff crumbling.... moving very fast... solid ground... look up... female... bow... worry; reassure; apologize; greet...

He fought down the urge to blush. He had not yet given this mare his name.

"I am called Shishio, though you may call me anything you wish." He returned her wink, hoping his near-blush had occured without her noticing. "... Provided it can be said in the presence of young ones."

Sugar couldn't resist to laugh. The stallion was amusing, she appreciated it. She didn't have many friends actually, always taking care of Teddy. It was the first time she was outside by herself.
"Then nice to meet you mister Shishio." she switched her ears suddenly curious. "Can i ask you what you did here ?" she looked the upper side of the cliff.

He followed her gaze to the cliff, and smiled back. This smile was brighter and somehow more cheery then the last, perhaps owing to the fact that Sugarberry's laughter had brought his own mood up a bit.

"Oh, I just like watching the seagulls and the sky... and the waves..." His grin turned sheepish. "... they're peaceful. As to what I was doing on that particular cliff," he peered at the crumbling cliff with a certain air of dislike, "I just happened to chose that one from which to view the world above."

Sugar still looked at the cliff, listening to the stallion. "It seems nice, but now i think it may be a little dangerous."
She turned her head back to the stallion thinking of his fall. "You see Shishio, i'm not really courageous." She laughed. Then looking back at the sea.
"I love looking the waves too. I want to see a dolphin. Someone told me they are wonderful. But i never have the chance to meet one."

His eyes were still on the cliff as his ears perked forwards at her words. "True, though when I was on the cliff it never occured to me that it might be dangerous; I suppose I was too busy watching the sky." He looked over to her. "Courage can be both good and bad- good because it lets you experience things many others have never even though to try, and bad because it could get you..." he looked at the cliff, then at the pathway his descent had made. He thought of what would have happened should the cliff have been steeper, or ended in jagged rocks, and shuddered. "... well, you know."

He watched as a wave crashed upon the sandy shore. "I think they live deeper then we could go... unless they come to the surface for air." He stared thoughtfully at the water. "They come closer to shore sometimes too, right?" He looked to her for confirmation.

The mare came back from a little dream with dolphins. She heard his point of view about courage. She agreed with it but.... "I would like to be more courageous, but i can't put my life in danger, there is a little someone who need me right now." she made a motherly smile, full of love.

Looking back to the sea she tried to remember what her friends told her about dolphin, but strangely she was not able to remember. "I'm sorry, i'm not sure. But i think you have right."

Looking the stallion with her light blue eyes, she seemed to simply enjoyed his company.
