There is a major breakthrough in technology. I was looking for support for my email (It was being stupid like always) when I came across a thing called Microsoft Surface!! See for yourself what the table can do, Just go to http://www.surface.com As for discussion, do you think that this could come out in the next year or so?
Do you think it would work without recalls or glitches?
How would it change all of technology looking at the big picture?
And last, How much do you think it will COST?? (It will cost about 5,000 to 10,000 dollars. I looked it up online)

The website says that it will be hitting the market in winter of this year (2007). I'm sure that there will be glitches and maybe a recall or two, but it will allow technology to be much more communal. When you're on a computer it can't really be shared unless you scoot over and let the other person at the mouse or keyboard. The Microsoft Surface would allow people to do stuff together on a machine that is not just a gaming platform, plus it eliminates the need for a keyboard or mouse.

WEll I'm not into computer technology much...but...this is neat. (That's my 2 cent's) lol
It's like that movie with Tom Cruise...Minority REport. They had a "surface" type technology. (sort of)
Anyhow, with anything new, if not tested enough and sometimes even then there will always be some sort of defect of glitch or whatever can go wrong with computers. They glitch now...they will glitch then.
I'm not sure about the bigger picture other than, I guess we are moving more into an era where we rely on computers for almost anything.
I think it's cool, cuz I could draw on there...but that's about all I'd use it for...
Oooh, I think it would also be cool cuz it would cut down on my paper usage for note taking. If I could just write on my computer... There is already a labtop out there like that...I want it soo bad! But...I'm poor.
The thing is when this technology does become available to everyone, I won't be able to afford it anyway there for I have lost interest in this topic. haha blaugh wink

That's amazing. Technolagy has come so far. I agree, there will probably be a recal or two. Overall, however, it seems like a dazzling product.

I've heard of it, looks and sounds cool, but alas, it's microsoft, there's gonna be a few glitches at first. It'll be cool, but I won't have the money to get one for a while.

Looks fantastic IF it does everything they say it will. And after the bugs are killed...... In my job I already have been using touch screen computing for a few years, but NOTHING as advanced as this! I wonder how long it will be before star trek's... "computer, ..." "yes, captain?"..... becomes a reality, and we don't even need surfaces..... wink

Even if we do go to the whole "Star Trek Technology" thing, I wouldn't like leaving the whole process up to the computer. Computers aren't always perfect, so I would rather be the one searching, although it is more of a inconvenience for me to be doing it.
Overall, this looks really cool, but I'll wait a few years before they semi-perfect it and the price goes down a bit. Afterall, I don't have to have it right away.
They were showing it at clothing stores and such, but it may take several years before they become commonly spread. I highly doubt we will see much of these "Fantastic Gadgets" until they are debugged and such.

That is true. The prices make this thing impossible to spread around the nation.

(°♠°)That's incredible. It reminds me of the Microsoft house? I do like the way this type of technology is heading. Like Lei, I wouldn't want the whole process to be up to the computer...
I love the way it could recognise objects... Amazing!
I love the touch screen approach, and I think this is going to be a massive success for Microsoft, even if the first couple of years is full of glitches, recalls and complaints.
The only thing I see with it is that ordinary touch screens-and ordinary tables- get worn away quite easily. How long would this thing last?

well its actually not a touch screen. It doesn't say this but if you study more, its a glass table with cameras beneath it so other things wont trigger it moving it and it will handle more finger movements than a touchscreen. Thats the advantage, it multi tasks and it wont wear out like you said.

I think it w ill be a fair while before it really becomes something that everyone has like a computer or a TV and such, but yeah, eventually I think this stuff is really going to take off! It has many advantages- ... actually, it kind of looks like this iBar thing I saw on youtube, it's a touchbar. Not quite as many features, but the same kind of idea. It'll probably first come up commercially like in some of the videos, restaurants and such. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iaKehq6qsdYiBar ^
