Ah, it was a beautiful night. Calistina had left her home to talk a long walk away from the sea. It brought too many painful memories and her distance served to keep her heart from wandering out into those dangerous waves. The elegant woman wore her blood red dress, the form fitting fabric hid none of her curves. Perhaps her most unusual feature was her bright white hair. It was a stark contrast to her dark skin.

Her thoughs wandered to a pirate, docked at the pier but unseen by her eyes. He didn't like to leave the ship, for it meant he would have to see her in court. She remembered the long fights they would have, then the gut wrentching fear that gripped her when she found him gone one day. He had sailed away with the pirates and returned scarred, his beauty now marred by life's hardships. She had hoped to spare him that, but he loved the sea far too much. He was man, and made his own decisions.

Julianna was escaping her father and brother's demands of staying in the house where they could keep an eye on her. She sulked about the thought of constantly being watched. She was the one who always did what she was told without much of a complaint and the one thing she wanted, she couldn't have.

She sighed as she stared at the ocean and picked the bow up to her violin. Next to her was also her flute to which she looked at now, despite the bow in her hand. She switched from violin to flute, lifting the instrument up to her lips and starting to play a soft, soothing but sad lullaby.

The elf heard a sad melody float upon the air. She frowned and wondered who was so sad that their heart would produce such a song. She walked towards the sound and saw a young Corsea playing the flute. She was a lovely creature and Calistina wondered why she was out here all alone. The well dressed woman sauntered over to the young lady and smiled softly at her.

"My dear sweet girl, why do you play such a sad song."

The dark skinned woman brushed a lock of pure white hair from her ice blue eyes. She seemed so odd with her features but she was obviously a woman of wealth and refinement.

Julianna wasn't one to judge people so quickly. It wasn't her nature. Afterall, she had mother like figure who had raven colored curls, pale skin and eyes the color of blood and who drank it...She had a father who was a vampire with severe scars who was bisexual but currently had a male lover. No room to really play judge...she herself had the fair skin, her eyes a lavender tinted blue that almost rivaled her father's husky blue eyes. Of course her naturally blueish hair would have made her seem the rebellious teenager, which she had only begun to be.

She looked up to the dark skinned noble, her eyes alight with curiousty as she played a moment longer before the song trailed off, the flute moving away from her lips. She placed the instrument with care in her lap and readjusted her kimono a bit. She licked her lips a little before she spoke in a soft voice.

"One is simply sad...why the question, Madame?"

It was clear she held a small trace of a french accent, one she gained from listening to her father constantly speaking it.

The woman smiled and settled herself gracefully onto the bench next to Julianna. Her red dress was made of silk and lace, with a soft cotton underdress. A locket glimmered around her neck while the rest of her jewelry was blood red.

"Well for one who looks as you do, you should be a smiling child. One of joy and happiness. Yet you have such a sad look about you. Why does your heart ache so, child?"

Calistina did have a motherly charm to her. She was usually concerned with the children around since hers had long since left home.

Her wings fluttered a bit before they relaxed. They weren't much for flight but they were still pretty.

She smiled a little. She usually was happy.

"I guess I lost heart to someone....I don't think he knows but..." She sighed softly, plucking gently at the keys on the flute. "my father nor brother is in the least bit happy about it..."

She wasn't sure why she was opening up like she was.

"Ah, a first fluttering of the young heart. A strange feeling for all envolved, especially the father. I take it your father does not approve of him? On what grounds?"

Calistina knew most fathers were very protective of their daughters, only wanting the best man for them. She had seen it enough in court, the fathers constantly pushing their daughter towards some well dressed, well bred male without ever considering the child's wants. She herself had felt attracted to someone once, but they proved to be a worthless sod who only wanted her body. Now she had a very low opinion of men unless they proved themselves more than just what their sex drives them to be.

Julie gave a small little smile.

"Apparently because of what he does for his living. But he isn't like the men at court. The men at court have no stories to tell..."

She shrugged a little.

The woman grinned a knowing grin.

"Oh they have plenty of stories, just none they can tell to young ladies. Tell me, what does the heart stealer do for a living that your father so disapproves of? If his job does not pay well it does not mean he is any less of a man."

Calistina had the idea that perhaps she was in love with a common boy and her aristocratic father wanted her to marry of her own social class. She remembered her days in poverty where rich men would give her gifts but never promise to bring her to court, as if they were ashamed of her poverty.

"He lives for the sea, or so I'm told by my father, that one in love with the sea could never love a lady of land."

She sighed softly.

"He's handsome..."

"So he is a sailor. Well they are a rough crowd and the sea is a jealous mistress who doesn't let her men go without a fight. Come now, I'm sure you can tell me more than that? Oh, perhaps it is not right to tell such things to a stranger. I am rude for not introducing myself. My name is Calistina, lady of the court of the Goblin King."

She nodded to the younger female and smiled at her.

She nodded, smiling sweetly.

"Julianna..." She didn't give more then that. She wasn't yet a lady and her father wasn't apart of Jareth's court, at least not to her knowlege he was.

"I'm not worried about the sea....I just sit and watch it...Perhaps the sea's jealousy is why women aren't allowed aboard a ship..." She mused to herself..

"That and after three days without fresh water to bathe in, women aren't too willing to stay on the ship."

She chuckled lightly.

"Now tell me more about this handsome sailor of yours. What's his name? What ship does he sail on?"

She giggled. She wasn't sure about the lack of bathing part but she had enough messes with the twins to know the feeling of a good bath was more then welcomed.

"Well...He stays on that ship," she said pointing to the pirate vessel that was currently docked. "He won't be leaving until the next morning though..."

Calistina looked over and her eyes got a bit wide as the young girl pointed at the pirate ship.

"You mean to tell me that the man you are all aflutter about is a pirate abord The Maddness of Hades? My goodness child, no wonder your father doesn't approve. I know a few of the men on that ship, and while a few are decent fellows, the others I'm not so sure about. Which one is it that you admire so?"

In her mind she was hoping the girl wouldn't say the handsome one-eyed Bosun named Raguel.
