((This is a Private RP between `Swirly and Myself. Please do not post unless asked. )) ----------------------------------- Azariel watched the baskets carefully, curiosity peaking. There was something different about them today. That, and the air seemed t have acquired an air of anticipation. Something was up, and she was only too glad that Caelen had made it home in time. Gaze flicking to him for a moment before surreptitiously returning to the baskets, she wondered if she was simply stressing for nothing. After all, it had only been a week since they'd been placed inside. She sighed and shook her head, bending down to nibble at some grass in an attempt to pass the time. ----------------------------- A wriggle and a shove, he pressed up against the top of the lid with absolute determination. He was tred of being inside this stupid thing! It ws cramped and small and just plain boring! Gnawing in frustration at what wicker he could get his teeth on, he pressed up against the top again.
What was out there? In that world he had never seen? He knew there was he Ma, he'd always be able to tell who she was and there was this other voice who he knew was his Da...but there were other voices sometimes and he wanted to know who those people were. So he kept at it.
CRACK.

Caelen felt just about as exhausted as it was possible to be. He'd managed to get to Lovey who had moved close to the teepee. She was just a day or two walking distance and a day at a fast pace away from him and Azariel. Triplets. The mare had had three little ones since he'd promised Az no more than a week he had stayed around long enough to see that they were girls. Three pretty little girls. He'd just gotten done telling Azariel about the three; CandiFloss, who looked most like Lovey; Fudgies, who took their father's looks most strongly; and Honeycomb, who was the clean mix of the two.
The run home had been hard and fast, thank god for his muscles and stamina. Az had seemed antsy to him, but that could've been his own fussing that made everything seem so much more intense. She was his one concern and he'd not let her be alone. Now it seemed their babies had been born. Caelen grinned as the basket that had his coloring strongest smashed out of the basket.. "Here they come lass."
======================================
What on earth was going on. Why was he still in here? Shaking out the spikes of hair that had gotten to where they would stick in his stupid eyes more often than not. Sighing softly the little boy decided it was time to make his entrance into the world. A voice that made him feel soothed had been with him for most of the week and another that soothed for the most part had been there but only for part of the time.
His mother and father? Lord he hoped so.
Bracing his hindlegs onto the bottom, feeling like he was in a full-crouch like some sort of tiger or wild-animal. Okay.. one.. two.. three.. PUSH! His little rump was the first thing that either parents got to see. The basket creaked then snapped under the strength he managed to take advantage of. "Alright.. Oof!"
Welcome.. to the world...

Azariel straightened as she heard the rustlings from the little baskets, moving closer to Caelen, though she only spared him a glance. Her attention was focused on the baskets and the children who had finally decided to meet the rest of the world.
The knowledge that while she had two baskets and Caelen to deal with, while Lovey now had three fillies and no mate to help her with them, made her--shamefully so--feel a bit better about being a parent, though she wouldn't hesitate to help out with her old friend if she could.
Blue-green eyes widened slightly as she watched their little ones break out of their baskets and a smile crept on her face--at least until she realized that both were little boys. Both of them.
Was it too much to ask of a bit more female in their family?
-----------------------------
Bright green eyes opened, squinting slightly with the sudden intrusion of light. He'd never seen the light before. It was pretty, or at least what he saw of it. His gaze traveled a bit and stopped on a pair only a few feet away from him and another one, who looked onkly a smidgen like him.
Back to the bigger ones. One was black with white legs and the other was reallyreally green. A quick look at himself and he realized the he was green too. Neat. With a cheerful smile-though he personally had no idea that was what he was doing--he trotted up to the pair and spoke, "'Ello! Are ye me Ma and Da?"
He was a get-to-the-point kind of colt.

Caelen’s eyes were rather wide as he watched his children make their appearances into the world. Both of them were equal mixes of Azariel and himself, but the green with clover was more of him and the black and green was more of her.
He had told Azariel about Lovey’s new little family just because it would probably make her feel better. If the two babies were rowdy he’d tell them about CandiFloss, a little filly that seemed to operate on a sugar high at all times. Hopefully these two.. Would be calmer.
The desire to shout and dance with pride was restrained although just barely. Sons! The lord had seen fit to give him two healthy sons. What would their names be? The green and white had gotten out first and he had spoken to them.
“Aye.. I’m yer father an’ that’s yer mam… What do ye say ter that?”

For the other spotting two that looked kind of like him made him more curious and cautious than happy to go see. The other little green-white probably was his brother or something.. He was much more carefree than the little black-green would ever pick for himself. Indeed.
Pricking both ears forward and taking a tentative step, then another before hooting with delight… Something that probably was passed down genetically from his father, “I kin walk, eh?” Grinning with silly delight he continued to walk until he stood in front of the pair.
“Who’re you?”

Azariel let out one long sigh. Two sons. Of all things in the world, they had given her two sons. She'd never have a quiet anything again. Oh, to be sure she was happy that they both seemed healthy and nothing seemed immediately wrong with them but--both of them? Since when had there been both boys in something like this? It was almost always one of each or two girls, that was what she knew, anyway.
Looks like that got blown through, eh? She turned her head and nudged Caelen, "Good lord," She hissed, "What have we done?" In retrospect, boys weren't so bad. They wouldn't be little girl-terrors and be all prissy and prim and they certainly wouldn't be afraid to get dirty and play around but--Ach, there was nothing she could do about it now.
A nod at the little green colt and a smile, unsure of what to say.
---------------------------------
Finn grinned brightly, "Sweet! Me name's...Finn, I s'pose." He paused, looking thoughtful for a moment. What did someone do when they came out of that black place? He had no idea. Did they jump and holler or play with their parents? He glanced around, wondering what to do. Gaze landed on the other little guy like him, he grinned, "Hi!" He chirped and shot the question that might have been directed at him right back, "Who're you?"
He wiggled in place, pondering over his previous condundrum. He wanted to play, but maybe his ma and da didn't? Ma looked...happy, but like she was really surprised. Cool! And Da just looked happy. Maybe they did want to play? He grinned and hoped so.

Two sons. Two glorious little boys that would probably take quite a bit of themselves from him. Although their mother certainly knew how to talk and play a fair game. Grinning slightly Caelen just turned to see what their mother had to say to the ornery little ones. Fresh from the baskets and neither of them really had anymore manners than he did. Excellent! Chuckling softly, Caelen nuzzled her to speak more to them.
He raised his head up and hissed back into her ear, “What do ye mean what’v we done? We’ve got two healthy little lads ter kick up their hooves an’ play.” Azariel would soon see that two girls that were probably more squeamish would make her crazy much much faster. Well.. If she wasn’t going to speak to them about their names, he would.
“So ye fancy the name Finn, eh? It’s a strong one an’ what about you lad?”
---------------------------------
Faolen blinked and just continued to stare up at his mam. Dah wasn’t all that interesting to him just because the stallion didn’t really seem to look much like he did. Nah, his big brother and their dad would probably stick just as tightly together as he and his Dah. Right! A name! What did he want to be called? A name was something very important and meant so many different things.. It might define who he would be for forever and ever.”
His dah wasn’t moving too much and their mam seemed to be in some sort of trance. Blinking his dark-teal eyes the little stallion figured he could think of a name that was just as strong.. “Well.. What.. What if my name were ter be.. Faolen?”

Already the father and the mini-me were bonding. Lovely. What trouble could father and son get into? Thinking about, Azariel realized quite a bit. She sighed and chuffed wordlessly back at him, not entirely pleased.
She fidgeted for a moment, not knowing what she should do. Seeing that Caelen was bonding with one son (conviently the one who looked most like him) she decided to bond with the one most like her, he seemed to be the calmer one at least, not that something like that really mattered.
"I think that'd suit you just fine, Faolen," She told him, nuzzling him gently.
----------------------------------
Bright green eyes blinked and his mouth split into a big grin. Puffing out his chest he replied, "I'm strong! 'Least I'm gonna be, right, Da?" He beamed and pranced in place for a moment.
"What can we do, Da?" He asked, tilting his head to the side in curiosity. "Can we go an' play? Please? Pleeasse?" He turned big pleading eyes on his father, having somehow already learned that little trick for convincing parents. Lucky boy.
Deciding the best route to get out this energy he seemed to have acquired in the past two minutes, he bounced around the vicinity of his father, laughed and hooting the whole time, "Come on! What can we do? I wanna 'ave fun! Can we have fun?" He stopped in front of his father and grinned innocently up at him.

Caelen snuck a glance over at his mate and could almost see the wheels in the pretty mare’s mind spinning. She seemed to be thinking that father and sons would drive her crazy. Okay, so that might all be right.
He had chosen to spend “more” time with Finn right now because both sons would tire of one parent most likely and switch. If he was giving equal attention she wouldn’t worry if she stayed back, right? So… It took willpower to hold in a grin when he saw her nuzzle the colt.
“Course ye are lad.. An’ if you like we kin play… What’ve ye got in mind?” Caelen grinned at the little guy.. My he had energy to burn already…
----------------------------------
Faolen was happier just to be with his parents for a moment. Maybe Finn was just gifted with sturdier legs at least right now, but his felt like they’d still give if he ran off somewhere.
His teal eyes looked up appealingly at Azariel before nuzzling her back his stump of a green-white tail wiggling back and forth as if pleased with what he had done to get attention. “So yer me mam, what’s yer other name?”
Faolen propped up a hindleg and stared around him. He wanted to be fully sure of this place and his home before he went all willy-nilly running like a wild-child that was it seemed, his brother. Like.. Where were they? What was their father’s name? He’d have to know these things you know before everything would seem comfortable. And his mamma smelled nice.. She made him feel kind of sleepy and relaxed.

Azariel raised an eyebrow in surprise, "Why would you want to know that?" She asked back. Sighing and shaking her head, wondering what she could possibly do, "Is...is there anything you'd like to do, Faolen?" She asked, canting her head to the side slightly. If Faolen was willing to tell her something like that she'd be golden for a few hours.
She was horribly inadequate as a parent it seemed. She had no idea how to handle something like this. Hmm, this was where a mother might have been helpful, too bad hers was far out of reach. She'd have to make do here.
----------------------------------
Finn paused and blinked green eyes. What could they play? Though he was certainly one for playing, he had no real idea of what he could play.
"I dunno!" He chirped, his little green and white tail flagging what it could, "Is there anythin' ye want ter play?" He beamed up at his Da with upmost trust and expectation. His da would know how to have fun, he was sure of that.
This was fun! He had little idea what was going on except his Da was in front and his ma was with his brother. Did he care that he didn't really understand? Not a whit. Boy, was he glad he'd gotten out of that stupid confining basket-thing.

Caelen grinned and stared down at his little ones with ease. Finn was definitely going to be the one that he wished he could tie bricks to just to make him use up more energy throughout the day. Azariel seemed to be fussing too much. He nudged her shoulder for a moment before nuzzling it, trying to let her know all she had to do was relax.. She was their mother and both adored her.
Acting as if this were the most important task available, Caelen figured hide-and-go-seek would be fitting. He’d hide and the little one could run around finding him. Finn probably wouldn’t be the best at waiting.
“How about Hide-n-Seek, lad? I’ll hide an’ you have ter find me?”
----------------------------------
Faolen grinned up at his mother but wasn’t too interested as of yet in playing with his brother or father for that matter. He had spent a week in a basket next to one, and he had to be thorough with his mother first.
“Weell, I figured that I’d want ter know that because it’s jest something for me ter know, eh?” Was that a good enough reason? His tail wagged again and the big soulful teal eyes continued to stare at her expectantly. She wouldn’t let him down, right?
Faolen already loved his parents. They had made him, right? And they had even let him give himself a name, although they had had to approve it first. Giggling slightly, in what was a more childish version of their father’s chuckle - Faolen simply waited.

Azariel gave her mate a hard look and pointedly fixed her attention on her look-alike son.
"Mm," She answered at first, debating over the merits of telling him something like that. If he stared calling her by her first name all the time she wouldn't know how she would react, but other than that there was nothing against it. "I'm Azariel," She angled her head back at the adult green stallion, "That's Caelen." Eyeing him she noticed his look. Ah, so he'd also acquired the pleading look that many a parent had given in to. Lovely.
A sigh and a gentle nudge, "Want to make daddy jealous?" She whispered, a smile tugging at her lips, "I know a special way to do that." Blue-green eyes glanced at Caelen for a moment before returning to her son.
------------------------------------------------
Ma seemed a be uncomfortable and Finn wasn't exactly sure why. Maybe she wasn't used to him and his brother? Well, he'd have to fix that soon, wouldn't he?
Attention suddenly focusing on the one person who seemed to be willing and eager to play with him he grinned brightly, "Hide-n-Seek?" Canting his head to the side in curiosity it sounded like a fun enough game, but f he could see his Da hiding it wouldn't be fun at all. How was he going to not see him though?
"Okay." He replied, little tail flicking, "But if I see ye, it won't be fun. How do we make it fun?" Looking up at his father expectantly, the little boy wanted to know and get the game started already.

Caelen figured that the best thing that he could do was pretend that Az hadn’t glared at him.
Alright, time to make Finn use up some energy on a game. Grinning slightly, the father began to explain just how precisely the game would be fun, “First ye have ter learn how ter count lad. Ye’ve got ter close yer eyes an’ count ter ten.” Would he be able to hide in a meadow in just ten seconds? Probably, Finn would have to count slowly to remember just how precisely to get through the numbers, “Ye go jest like this lad: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, an’ ten! Ready or not here I come!”
Caelen nuzzled at his son’s back for a moment, the darling boy seemed to be a bit wobbly still but it’d be alright, “Are ye ready ter play laddy?” Time to see if Finn was able to remember ten numbers. Smart lad he was.
------------------------------------------------
Faolen blinked up at his mother and then looked over at his father for just a few moment. Azariel and Caelen.. Mam and Dah.. Yes.. That seemed to fit well enough.
His mam was a sneaky thing wasn’t she? The little colt grinned up at him with wide innocent eyes. Make dah jealous? “Weell.. I guess we could do tha’ I jest don’t know what it means ter make a person jealous..” He’d play along with his mam ‘cuz… she had to be doing something fun just the way dah was having fun with Finn.
Faolen continued to stare up at his mother with his teal eyes glued open. It was as if the little one thought that he would miss something very very important if they were shut for even a moment of time. Oi.

Azariel shrugged non-commitably, "It's not something I can explain very well," she replied simply, "But you'll know it once it happens to you. Is that a good enough explanation?" She smiled faintly and shook her head.
"Alright then, now, here's how we make daddy jealous." She leaned in toward his ear so only Faolen could hear, "If you let me nuzzle you and mess up yor fur and little mane and seem absorbed in you, he'll get jealous." A wink, "It's not something I do with him and he probably won't like tat I'm giving you more attention than him in that area."
She nudged his head gently, "But don't worry, I'd do it anyway, but if your dad's around, it'll make it more interesting, don't you think?" A smile at her son and se wondered what was possibly possessing her for this. It might not even work.
---------------------------------------
Finn stared wide-eyed up as he Da explained how to play, he didn't want to mess up at all in anything. He'd want his Da to be proud, not embarrassed by his son. "One two, three, four...um...five, six, eight, se-ven, nine...ten, aye?" It sounded right to him, but he wanted to make sure it was right, just so he didn't make things messy.
He nuzzled his Da's cheek right back, wondering if this was a part of the game, "Aye, aye! Can we play now?" He ginned up at his older counter-part, wanting to play already, it'd help him get his balance anyway.

Caelen was absorbed in his little son so he didn’t even look to see that Azariel was already trying to corrupt his little one. No.. she hadn’t been wanting all boys to make her crazy, but now they were just so sweet and innocent. Oi.
Okay.. So his memory was pretty strong just one major mix up. Was it damaging to tell him he was wrong now? Nah.. The little lad wasn’t overly likely to remember what he says now in the hunt of a game and Faolen would have to learn too eventually. “Yer doin’ grand laddy. It’s most definitely time fer us ter begin our game.”
Nuzzling Finn’s mane for a second Caelen went over the rules one more time even though he was already trying to decide just where precisely to hide at, “Close yer eyes, count, an’ try ter find me lad. No cheatin’ by peakin’ yer eyes open either!”
---------------------------------------
Faolen just stared up at his mother for awhile. Okay, so daddy would be jealous at momma loving on him? Why should he care? He was going to get loved on? Giggling slightly he moved up next to her with wide eyes blinking. “Will ye tell me more things ter know while yer lovin’ on me, mam?” He hoped so. Learning things was a must for him.
He just grinned and waited. Faolen might be much more cautious and curious than his father and brother but he had the temperament and blood in his system to appreciate and know when something could be rather.. Fun.

Azariel glanced at Caelen and noticed that he was in the process of finishing explaining how to play a game of hide-and-seek with his green son. A sigh escaped her, that jealousy plan would have to wait, wouldn't it? Oh well.
She shrugged and lay down near her black son, motioning for him to come next to her if he wished. "That depends on what you'd like to know," She answered, blowing a wisp of hair out of her face, "If you want to know something, you'll have toask me questions." She wrapped her neck over his protectively for a moment and subsided, waiting for him to decide what to do.
---------------------------------
Finn nodded eagerly at his Da, wondering for a moment why the older stallion would ever think that he would cheat. Why would he do that to his Da? He shook it off as something to dwell on later, it was time to play now!
Grinning up at his Da he nodded again, "So ye hid an' I come and find ye' right?" He puffed out his chest, "Betcha I can find ye in five minutes!" He proclaimed proudly, "Let's go then!" He closed his eyes and waited for his Da to go and leave so he could begin counting. Hopefully, he'd be counting correctly.
