Ok, so we all know what bugs us, but what is it, either in your band or a band you saw, that really grabs your attention and makes you like them.
Now being in a hardcore band, sometimes the music can sound the same, and the music is really meant for getting you to move.
So what really attracts me is a very active band, because that is what really can get the crowd going, and if anyone is into hardcore or metalcore, you know what im talking about.

Good, Original Stage Presence. Playing in a pop-punk band, I love to see movement. I love it even more when a band has very consistent stage presence, but then has one trick up their sleeve that just blows your mind. EX: Free For all's bass player is very consistently moving, but then during certain times, he'll throw his bass around himself 5 times in a row without stopping.

Its all about the sound I love different and fresh sounds I'm all ways trying to get some cool sound out of my bass that I've never hurd. I also love a good heavy guitar on the deminished fith that kicks some a** Tri tone the devil's note I love it! I love bands that can do some thing crazy with an instrument too for example COB takes guitar to a new level with sound warping, they make those things sound ******** crazy, Lamb of God's deep demonic vocals with their blast beat drums and wailing guitar is the best, profugus mortis with their combo of shrilling and grunting vocals, and voilen and pianic key board with a deep bass and heavy guitar, Ensiferum's embrace of ancent and viking like sounds, Moonsorrow's extrodinarly long songs with one of the most epic guitar and key board combos I've ever hurd, Dragon Force's speed which probably is the fastest guitar ever and the magical feel of that music, The songs from Nobuo Uematsu like Jenova which are a great combination of orchistra and metal, The misfit's extremly dumb and low grade lyrics with a highly distorted guitar and retartedly simple riffs, Rammstein's german lyrics and eire sound mixes, Marylin manson's continued use of sounds from many odd objects, My band's overactive imagination and extrelmy voilent and death related lycrics and the whole groups constent attempts to make some thing that no one has ever hurd befor. We need a few more fingers on our hands. like two more would kick a**. The clash's combination of punk, and reggea, along with some much more complicated riffs and a very up beat and cheary sound. All that kinda stuff makes me wet when I listen to music.

Hm,
I'd have to say using different time signatures, syncopation, technical riffs, and a tight groove between the bassist and drummer.
Oh, and use of dynamics.

I don't know if I mentioned it in my wall above but the band needs to be alive and more alive people is way more impressve to me. If you have the endurance to head bang for a whole concert that's prity crazy and prity god damn kick a** too! Even if the music isn't extremly perfect or crazy a good stage show can make an event, people will remember how people act on stage, I usually like antics as much as music but only if the music doesn't suffer.

The band members need to have talent and the music needs to have a good beat.

I like good tempo [can't stand overly slow songs] Also love good riffs, solos, and the little effects used in songs to make them sound cool.
Then, I have a conflicting thing. I like songs to have lyrics, I just can't stand singing [I loathe American Idol] *spelling

Tightness. Bands can be good, but the instruments can not sound good together. I see this happen a lot. Usually it can be remedied by massive amounts of practice or rewriting the song. However, when you can just feel that the members of the band work perfectly together, that's what impresses me.
Mad skills are a plus too...

So what really attracts me is a very active band, because that is what really can get the crowd going, and if anyone is into hardcore or metalcore, you know what im talking about. well what turns me on is always amazing musicians! if they are being extreemely creative, sound good, and have a good time doing it, they're good. the way i see it, it is great when bands are trying to get the audience moving and have fun, but keep in mind that, that can't be all the music is. for instance i saw a band in portland, they were terrable. they were a punk band (forgot their names) but they got people to mosh and stuff, and it seemed like that was the thing they put the most thought into. the "music" was 3 power chords (B,A,G) and repetetive drumming with the bass player playing 8th notes. the vocals consisted of "fight, fight, fight...all you like to do is F#$in;g fight!" it had hardly a spec of musicality involved, so you should always be looking for musicallity before you think about "get people moving."

i'll go for strong lyrics and lyrics with a good meaning. and if they sound cool i'll listen to them. ex. Rammstein, they have a heavy guitar sound and the vocals sound pretty cool for some of the songs.
and steady beats and rhythm.

well most of the time its first impressions that get me to like or dislike it for awhile then they gotta be able to keep beat (I hate jumpy songs) good lyrics, and a real good way for bands to get me to like them is if the lyrics are interesting or relate to my current feelings, because sadly I like alot of slow songs because they relate but no one knows that >.>
