The moon was bright as she fluttered over a bed of flowers. She'd taken up 'roost' for the day in a near bye forest and now that the moon was up and she could see alright she decided that food and maybe a drink was in order.

It was lovely wherever she'd found herself and so there had to be something delicious to munch on. The flowers under her started to look better and she settled down to try there. She let her body settle into it's larger size before she leaned down to take a bite off a stem. Oh yes they were delicious.

Smiling to herself she started to munch on the dinner she'd found and wondered what else she could do with her night. It seemed empty enough so she idly wondered if she could just spend the night thinking about everything and nothing.

The evening was cool, a relief from the warm days of summer that had fallen upon the land. Nostalgia continued her walk across the meadow, her silver chains dragging and tearing at the flowers scattered across the ground. Long dark braids floated in the light breeze, and she paused to sigh, enjoying the feeling.

As much as she hated to admit it, she couldn't help feeling lonely once again. Memory and Trevelyn had grown up, and it wouldn't be long before they started to wander across the lands by themselves, leaving her and Draven behind. She appreciated her friend more than anything, but she couldn't help but feel like she was nothing but a burden to him... something keeping him from his own happily ever after.

Lavender hooves began to move once again, and the ghostly mare treaded along, wondering if she was bound to allow these thoughts to fill her head for the rest of the evening.

Her ears flickered as she heard a strange sound. It reminded her of things she heard when near the places where the strange two leggers were. The ones who used the things that exploded and who broke those of her kind. Shaking her head she tried to ignore it until she noticed that the sound was coming closer.

Picking her head up she looked around and frowned at the form that was moving toward her. Whatever it was looked strange but not strange enough for her to worry for her safety. After all she wasn't anywhere near those lands that smelt horrible anymore.

Leaning down to n** a flower off it's stem she kept and eye on the other and straightened up as it, she, came closer. "Well don't you look like the proverbial midnight wanderer"

The voice caught her off guard, and Nostalgia paused once again in her walk. Her eyes glanced around until they landed upon a graceful looking mare with almost transparent wings. Perhaps her dark skin had hidden her in the night? Either that, or Nostalgia was becoming more careless in her walks. It could have been a kalona or worse, and she hadn't even noticed!

"Good evening," she finally replied, remembering her manners, "I don't know what a midnight wanderer should look like, but the title seems fitting enough. And you as well?"

"I'm not quite sure myself but you most certainly don't look like something that'd go wandering around at noon." As she moved her wings slightly the membranes shuffled against her hide.

"Forgive me if i am intruding on your home. I meant to only pass though but got caught by the scent of good food." She looked down at the flowers for a moment before looking back to the other mare.

She reminded her of something but for some reason she couldn't figure out what. It was something that made her seem not quite there.

She smiled, chuckling a bit. "No, I suppose I don't look like a daywanderer, do I? The sun's far too bright for my eyes, and I assume spooks and spirits tend to wander the night anyhow, as the stories go."

Tilting her head down, she bowed in proper greeting to the exotic flutter.

"No need for pardon; this is not my home. And the scent IS enticing, is it not?" Nostalgia mused as she followed the mare's eyes, looking onto the flowers herself.

"You'd think after being trapped in darkness and shadows that they'd want to wander around in the daylight a little." she laughed slightly as she thought about that. She liked the daylight herself but sadly with the heat and a black hide it was hard to spend much time in it. Her only saving grace was that she could hide in shady spots that most others couldn't dream of getting into.

"You'd think someone would have made this their home. The flowers seem to grow so well here." There must have been a stream or spring nearby for such greenery.

One eyebrow rose as Nostalgia studied the flutter. Something seemed different about this mare, aside from the unique wings and coloring she possessed. Something was definitely abnormal, but now the question was, was it a good abnormal, or something to be worried over?

"You would think... but, we all hold our secrets, don't we?"

Her silver tail gently swayed back and forth behind her, enjoying the feel of the evening air. Her eyes glanced down to look at the buds, and smiled.

"They're beautiful, aren't they? It's a shame they'll die soon enough. Such a short period of time to give us their beauty. I wonder how the flowers feel about it."

"We do .." She smiled slightly sadly before shaking her head to get rid of it. Secrets were secrets but if they were less than pleasant ones that didn't mean you had to dwell on them. She could do enough of that when she was alone. It would be horribly rude to ignore conversation to wallow in the past.

"To know that even though they have such a short life but in that short life they can bring beauty to whomever happens to see them." She leaned down and nosed as one of the flowers. "I'd say they're probably happy just the way they are."

She'd be happy if she could do that at least. Momentary happiness of that kind was worth all the pain and suffering that the rest of the world could bring. She could vaguely remember someone saying that it's the little things in life that bring the most joy.

"Happy just as we are."

Nostalgia smiled, and gave a short nod in agreement. "That sounds rather true. Yet... you don't seem as happy as these flowers are. Might I intrude and inquire as to why you seem rather... solemn, this evening?"

Dark bangs found their way dangling in front of her vision, and the mare gently tossed her head back, sending the hair back behind her ears. The exotic beauty in front of her did see somewhat happy... but there was something else there. Something Nos couldn't put her hoof on.

"Oh, and dear me... I never gave my name to you, now have I? Nostalgia is my given name, but you are more than welcome to call me Nos, if it's easier on the tongue."

She laughed softly. "You are not the only one who has forgotten formalities then." She hadn't bothered with her own name either though most didn't ask for it. "Kochu'akai. I would take a hazard that i would have far easier with your name than mine. You may shorten it however you wish"

Nostalgia fit the other mare perfectly. She didn't quite know why she thought that but something just matched. Her ears flickered as she thought about the other's first question.

"The night makes me think of things, things that aren't always happy." She smiled at the other. "Everyone has their demons, i suppose thinking back on my own occasionally helps me carry on pleasantly the rest of the time"
PostPosted: Tue Jul 10, 2007 2:49 pm

"Demons do tend to rise up when the world goes quiet." she mused to herself softly, glancing towards the distant horizon, and then back to her companion.

"Kochu'akai." She tested the name out with her tongue, somewhat fearful of mispronouncing it. But it seemed to roll off easily enough, and she stored it away for future memory.

"Time can be a harsh mistress though, if you're not on her side." Nostalgia pointed out, her ethereal wings twitching as she stood still. "She holds both good and bad memories, ones we wish to relive forever, and ones that we wish to depart from our minds. Perhaps thinking over the happier times would relieve you from the bad ones?"

"May things tend to rise up when the world goes quiet. Tonights a good night for spirits to be wandering." She looked up at the star scattered sky for a moment.

"I would never wish to forget my darker memories. If it weren't for them i would not be here and who i am today." She shook the loose waves of her hair to get it into some semblance of order.

The memories were not always fun but they were part of her. They were what made her stronger than she used to be. They were what had given her another chance at life.

Nostalgia's eyes narrowed at Kochu's words, and her ears perked. She had mentioned spirits... did she recognize Nostalgia for what she was?

"Yes..." she agreed, careful of her words, "Tonight would be a fair evening for the restless wanderers to move about in."

She watched the darker mare speak, and listened intently to her words. "That may be true, but don't allow those darker memories to make you who you are. Things go better when everything is in balance. Control.... control is a necessity."

She tilted her head slightly and nodded. "After all ... if it were not such an evening neither of us would be out wandering." It was easy to tell certain types of spirits when you were close enough to one yourself.

"They have already made me who i am. Though i am slowly accepting that they need not be everything that makes me. While i am locked in the past in some ways there is also the future to concentrate on now."
