I was looking around the guild directory, and I noticed that there was no Breath of Fire thread gonk which is a tragedy because it's my current obsession! (What can I say? The fanfiction's really good 3nodding ). So I decided to make a thread to Capcom's awesome RPG series! Now we can discuss the various plots of the game, which Ryu is your favorite, the possibility of a 6th game, etc. 3nodding

I love BoF. Its an awesome series. I've had all of them so far except that I gave up one and two, but I still have 3, 4 and 5.

The Breath of Fire series is among my favorites along with Final Fantasy.
1 - 4 are great games I have been addicted to the series since the first one was released on the super nintendo.
I don't consider Dragon Quarter however Breath of Fire game it was absolutely terrible and does not have the feel of the other games.

Dragon Quarter is really strange. I finished it like a week and a half ago and the whole ending just sucked to me. I was all like "I did all this hard work, to watch you guys go be all giddy."

I don't consider Dragon Quarter however Breath of Fire game it was absolutely terrible and does not have the feel of the other games. I'm not going to play 4 because they butchered the US release (they cut out scenes and they added Nina saying to Ryu that she loved Cray! It's like Legend of Zelda with Link ALWAYS ending up with Zelda! Ryu ALWAYS ends up with Nina! And that line is NOWHERE in the Japanese release!), but I ADORE 1-3. I also don't really count Dragon Quarter, but I think it's supposed to be a legitimate part of the series (the Japanese release calls it Breath of Fire V: Dragon Quarter. I notice for our version they left out the V)

LOVED BoF 3! I still pull it out for a playthrough every now and again. biggrin Couldn't stand BoF4 though, the plot was lackluster and I hated the intense difficulty leveling up and the sudden steep difference in the level of enemies at certain points. Tried Dragon Quarter, didn't really like it so I gave it to a friend.

I got the first game (I think) for GBA in French so I could practice the language, and as far as I know it was good, assuming I didn't mistranslate anything vital. I got stuck in the village with the zombies though...

Actually it is funny you mentioned Romero and the zombies because when I first played that game I got stuck on that part as well for awhile.
