Just something I saw on Fox News and went FTW?

I guess this is a bill coming up for legislation in some unnamed state, and would only apply to second and third time offenders.

And normally I'm against the death penalty... but there are just some people you see coming up for parole every few years that just should not. Like Charles Manson. Oh sure he's crazy and he's never gonna be let out, but how painful is it for his victim's families to have to see his face on TV again and again? Everytime he farts the media's all over him. How much worse is it for kids who don't even fully understand what's been done to them?

But the guy against it had a good point too. He said he thought it would be more likely for child rapists to kill their victims to keep them silent. They're the only witness to the crimes, usually.

But according to that logic, one could argue that a person would be less likely to attempt the crime if they knew what was waiting for them if they were caught. So it goes in circles.

But third offenders and on, perhaps...

Like Zephyr said, first time offenders shouldn't get it.

When it get's to like... the third offense, then kill 'em. D< Child rape/molesting is a horrible thing for anyone to go through. It happened to my friend, and she was traumatized for a very long time afterwards. He was her karate teacher.

In my opinion, it's a really tricky subject. When it comes to murderers and long-time child molesters, we really want to see them gone. They are the scum of the streets, so why use tax-payers' dollars to feed them and clothe them. However, if they killed someone, then the government is somewhat becoming a hypocrite. By killing them, they are doing th same thing that they might have done to the victim... so, I'm not particularly on either side...

Yeah, I feel my heart clench everytime I hear that the Death Penalty has been enforced. I'm not sure that it helps the victims to know that their attacker is dead... Wouldn't that seem just as traumatizing?

But never being a victim of an attack of any kind, I suppose I have no right to judge.

No. I hate the death penalty, I think it's wrong to slaughter a person no matter how big of a crime they committed. I think it was wrong when we hung Iraq's leader, and I think that even if child rape (Which I think includes my age) is on of the most horrid, disgusting, inhumanly, lowly, arrogant crimes, No one, NO ONE should have to die. Instead I believe it's fine to lock them up forever and give them some psychiatrists. Or better, the penalty shouldn't be death, it should be slicing their genitals off with a very sharp knife so it can't happen anymore. (Sorry for the grossness)

Just no killing. Taking life away is awful, even to someone dangerous.

Doing something horrible to children when all you need is a prostitute in my point of view is like having a disability. When I hear about the death penalty it makes me sick. Half of the criminals will die of old age in jail on the waiting line anyway. Just cut their dicks off and keep them in jail for a long time. No killing is ever necessary or needed.

I may feel different if it happens to me, but I was sexually harassed on the phone and it sounded like if he found out where I lived (I lied, but was to scared and freaked out to hang up) he would have raped me. Seeing him dead wouldn't please me at all
