I know things are mega expensive, but for a college student who wishes to study abroad (not really exchange but living there for 2 years or something) I would like to know how much things REALLY cost.
Things like :
cell phones water electric cheap apartments clothing food toiletries cooking devices
ect...
I dont have alot so I'll more then likely try to get things from 2nd hand shops and cheapie stores.. good or bad idea?

Hey there,
I'm actually moving there in the beggining of August for work. So if you can't find good enough answers by then, I might be able to help you out more.
I think sadly, lots of things will depend on where you are. I'm not sure how good your language proficiency is, but if you're going to like Temple I think has a place in Tokyo, or Kansai University, things might be a little expensive. Not that those are the only two choices, i just don't know much about colleges/programs there, except what we have at my own school.
Electricity from what my company tells me will be the worst, because its really expensive in Japan. Some apts, might come with cooking devices, mine does, but I got extremely lucky.
If this is any help, or you have any questions feel free to ask! I'm sure other guildies can elaborate more.
