Szalka sighed distantly as she slowly tred towards where the other bones pack wolves spent most of their time. Kind of like a local hot spot of activity. Today the area seemed void of all activity. Tomarrow would be the bones purifying ceremony and all the pack would be watchign her, waiting for her to mess up, so Irons could kill her, or yell at her infront of them.

The Shaman had decided to take Irons advice and coem out here to socialize with the pack, her pack. Most of those she knew from puphood, the ones who cared for her, and her family were dead, and she wondered if any of the members of the new pack even knew, or remembered who she was. She assumed they did, and disliked her for her fathers rules. She frowned and gazed up at the moon, it was full and glew a silvery blue color agaisnt the black as night sky. She would have howled at it, had the instinct to do so still have been ingraiend in her psyche, too bad her behavior was less wolf and more well... less wolf.

Skule had been ordered to watch Szalka, and he thought he'd done a fair job so far. But tonight, the beta male was relaxing. He figured the shaman would be asleep or atleast close enough to the packlands that she wouldn't cause any trouble, so...

The gray male stretched languidly in the common spot, jowls opening in a wide and welcoming yawn as the moon shone brightly on his fur, making it seem almost a whitish-silver in the night. Green eyes searched the surrounding woods lazily, their color glinting every few moments, and then flashing brightly as they settled upon the approaching wolf.

"Szalka." Skule breathed, gaze running over her teal markings as she came nearer, her familiar scent wafting in the air.

The shaman would have started humming, but as soon as she took another step, and was about to let the noise out of her throat, she caught sent, and sight, of their beta, Skule. The one who had escorted her here and who had been spying on her. If she had been a normal wolf, she might have been offended, but she had expected this from Irons. Sending his peons to spy on her. It almost made her laugh.

Szalka smiled at Skule and bowed her head respectfully. Her topaz eeys glittered as she took a few more steps towards the relaxing Skule. "How are you this evening Skule? Well I hope..." The first member of the new pack she had met, was Skule. She remembered him growing very aggitated by her songs, the memory made her smile widen. "I hope I didn't startle you?" She asked, knowing he thought she was a bit odd, that was fine, even Irons was uncomfortable around Szalka, when he wasn't angry at her that is. When ever he got angry, he seemed to forget about everything else.

"I should hope not," Came Irons voice from behind them both as he stalked up to them in his oh-so-suave Irons way that made him look like he was the king of everything he walked past. Which, in general, he was. He eyed Skule, asking in one eye whether or not Szalka was doing anything fishy, while the other looked at Szalka herself to ask if she was doing alright herself.

If she did turn out to be his Shaman permanently, which in some senses he hoped she would be, since it would solve a lot of problems if that were the case. He just hoped that if she was the answer to his current problem, that she and the pack would get over the past and team up for the new, stronger, Bones Pack. If Szalka managed to prove herself, and Irons did know that she was a powerful Shaman, to be sure, then he had no doubt that their pack would become too powerful to be over-come by their enemies.

Skule was about to answer when he heard Irons' voice sound from behind him, demanding and regal. The male turned his head, eyes settling on the Alpha, and his tail twitched in a short wag. As he fully turned to bow in respect, eyes hooded as he thought over his reply.

"No, I wasn't startled. I'm just fine. How are you, Lady Shaman? And you, Irons? Such a pleasure to be in your company this night." A small smile played on the beta's maw as he gave a knowing shake of his head - a small gesture of reassurance to the alpha. The gray wolf settled down, seated closer to his Alpha than to Szalka, as the very thought of her - her strange eyes, movements, words, singing - unnerved him.

Irons nodded to Skule, showing that he understood. After all, he and Skule needed to be able to communicate if he, as the Alpha and Skule, as the beta were to get across the communications that they needed to. Not to say that he and Skule had ever not gotten along. Irons wouldn't have chosen him if that were the case.

"I am quite well tonight, actually. I am... looking forward to the cerimony tomorrow night," which was in no way an understatment. He was looking forward to it, because either Szalka was going to prove herself and stay, or she would curse them all, and he would kill her for it.

Szalka bowed her head respectfully to her alpha, and smiled at Skule as they both started to speak. She sat where she was and kept a comfortable distance, seeing Skule was already growing unnerved with her so close. "I am glad no ailments have caused anyone harm..." She was of course, actually glad that her chants had kept the border around the bones pack safe, and kept intruders and bad omens out. Even if Irons didn't realize it, she was already proving to be an amazing shaman.

"Ah yes, the ceremony... don't we all look forward to that..." Her voice was neutral this time and face and eyes unread-able. Szalka was not nervous, oh no, it just seemed she was starting to grow nerve wracked by Irons persisting... she wondered if he did want her to fail, to mess up, and die, or for something to happen, to give Irons reason to slaughter her. She frowned slightly and gazed up through the tree's. She had wished to socialize with other members of the pack, but it seemed Irons was a hypocrit in the way he and Skule never left her alone.

"I wished to meet some of the other mebers of the pack tonight... but it seems they are all gone to bed quite early this night..." Her eyes showing little emotion still. A soft wind rustled the leaves of th surrounding tree's and Szalka's ears perked at the noise.

"No doubt that they are out hunting Szalka. So before you think it, I merely came here to inform you that though you do well as a Shaman, your timing is actually terrible. Unfortunate, but true I suppose." The alpha gave a small shrug, not seeming to care, "I am sure that as soon as they arrived, I will steer them towards you. Perhaps Kei will be the most... forgiving option of the pack. I'm sure that he will be willing to show you around."

This, he supposed was true. Kei was the most likely to help the new Shaman. Skule, he would suggest, but Szalka was already weary of his beta. That would be something he would have to watch out for.

"I'm sure you'll have plenty of opportunities to meet the other members at the ceremony, hm? And I'm sure they'll be delighted to speak with you after your display." Spoke Skule, his voice timid. The beta gazed upwards, towards the light of the moon as it disappeared behind a few small clouds and then reappeared. He did hope the ceremony went well, because then that would mean that Irons could trust her more, and that himself and Szalka could maybe have a more trustworthy relationship, instead of their guarded one.

He pawed idly at the ground, tail swaying, ears twitching as he turned to look at the Alpha and then back at the Shaman. "But do not worry, Szalka. It's just that most of our members are still quite cautious of each other since the battles... we just want to know who is on our side, and who is not."
PostPosted: Mon Jun 11, 2007 5:42 pm

"It is as Skule says, and as I have explained," Irons nodded in agreement with his beta, stretching out and relaxing slightly, to show that he wasn't even the least bit afraid of Szalka. He knew it would take less than a second to kill her, if it came to that... but if he were going to, he woud want an audience. Killing a foe without one was like laughing when no one else was around to get the joke.

Not that, at this point, he intended to kill her. Not really. He would have liked to, but he believed that she was likely going to stay with the pack and help them. If she was planning on doing that, then he would learn to get along with her. That was just the way it was going to have to be.

Szalka scoffed at the idea. Obviously neither had seen such a display as was required for the ceremony. The effort and strain. Oh no, she would be most unable to socialize after the ceremony. She shook her head and placed her eyes upon Skule. "They may be willing, but I will be in great need of rest... so it seems my wishes to meet the pack will wait another moon." She said quietly.

If only Irons would not be so cold to her. Did he think she was going to secretly rise up against him? Probably... even if she got the pack to love her, and they all became a good pack, there would be a rift. Irons, Szalka felt, would always hate her. That was a future Szalka did not look forward to. No, she had originally hoped for a different one, but that seemed stupid, and very unlikely at this point.

"Also, unless I am over thinking the condition I will be in after the ceremony, I request to only be disturbed if it is needed... I do not wish to cause stress to you, Irons, by making the pack think I am unsocialable, when I am really just very very tired..." She turned her eyes on Irons now. The only one she was weary of, was him. Skule was merely doing his job, if there was a rift between her and him, it was his cause. She was only tired of his spying, and felt like a child being babysat when she was with him these days.

"Understandable, I suppose. However, I shall come and check on you as I feel is needed. Both to make sure you are alive, and because I still don't trust you... unless of course this cerimony proves to be something quite new altogether. With our new allience with the Celestial Pack in place, I feel that the spirits will be mostly appeased on my end. I merely hope that you keep up yours." Half-true, half-false, of course. Killing Szalka would be the easiest way to get the pack back to normal, but with no shaman and no trainee, they would essentially be completely screwed.

No, he would have to work out some kind of arrangement with his shaman eventually, to insure that she stayed... what it was, he could not think of just yet, since he did not know her all that well, but he felt very sure of the fact that he would find a way. A way to make things work. He just needed to know more about her before he could find a way to make sure of her loyalties... though her rudeness towards him, frankly, still annoyed him endlessly.

No mistake. If she called on dark spirits, he would have no trouble killing her in the short term. It was for the long term that he was placing his pack in danger... and that worried him. A lot.

"Understandable... but after the ceremony, I do wish to apologize in advance for any queer things I may do or say..." She paused, thinking, realizing it might be best to explain a bit of what she meant, so the alpha would not think she would go off and do something to hurt the pack. "I once watched my mother after one of these ceremonies, and the after math was quite strange... she said some things that should not have been revealed... timing is everything you know." With that, she left it, feeling it should be enough, not that Irons would leave it at that, he may inquire, but how was Szalka to explain what he wouldn't understand?

With that she gave a slight shrug and her eyes started to mist over, the air about her growing more like it did when she was normally lazing about in her almost trance like state. She turned her eyes on Skule for a moment. "I won't eat tonight, or tomarrow... so do not bother bringing me food... it will just go to waste..." Szalka could hunt, but it seemed stupid to go out and hunt for food, when Irons would just think she was running off to be a spy for them... Then she remembered what he said, she turned a more clear gaze on Irons, a curious spark in her eyes.

"Celestial? Oh, how intreging... something unexpected... well... I think now that we have another warrior like pack as allies... I think you should take a visit to the beaches in a few fort nights... I've seen the sea rats start growing in numbers... but thats just in my opinion..." Szalka stopped there, wishing to further divulge Irons in her knowledge and give him advice, but she knew her words would be misinterperited and he would assume she was telling him what to do again.

Irons actually did look thoughtful for a moment over what she had said. Strange things? To be expected, he supposed. Shamans tended to do some very strange things. His mother had always said that... but after living with her, he doubted Szalka could do anything that would seem strange to him, "You seem to have forgotten who my mother is. Strange things coming from your mouth hardly offend me. Though thank you for the advanced warning." He had to try to be a little bit corteous, if this was ever going to work. Not too much, but he could take a hint.

He was prideful, not an idiot. He knew when to rely on which strength.

"As to those filthy sea rats... after the cerimony, I will assemble a group to go and take a look. Those heathens... no better then vermin. No sense of honor... we should kill them swiftly, before they become an annoyance. We should, perhaps, ask the Celestial Pack for some... assistance."

"They are too small in numbers now to threaten us to need to call upon our allies... perhaps I could arrange a meeting with you and their captain? It might prove to be beneficial... The alpha sometimes cannot help but talk, and boast..." Szalka suggested quietly before turning her maw to the sky. It was getting late, and Szalka figured she should go get a good nights rest for tomarrow. That and she did not want to give the pack members unease while they ate their kills.
