If actors keep quitting quickly (heard 10th is not long for this series either) what will happen to doctor who when they inevitably reach the last life as specified in the movie?
Is the doctor special in some way and maybe the Tardis will help him live forever? Or are they just going to kill the series because of an actor? It will be a sad sad day when Doctor Who ends... crying crying
I appologize if this as already been asked. If it has please re-direct me.

I heard a rumor that The Doctor's son would take the mantle of "The Doctor" but this was a while back, and I dunno if its true. I think they said they were going to introduce his son in Series 3.<-considered spoiler material. -_-

Now that the timelords are dead, there is no way for the Doctor to get a new regeneration cycle. But it's like Colin Baker said, as long as the Doctor is popular, the writers will come up with something to keep the Doctor around. Even if it's to his 38th generation.
Though, since each incarnation of the Doctor lasts an average of 3 years, I doubt we'll be dealing with the Doctor's last life for about a decade anyway. xd

if its popular enough they'll create some way of him surviving. but it all depends on whether the actors quit or not.....

Maybe he'll find a way of possessing other peoples' bodies like the Master did. Except, I get the feeling he'd only use willing hosts. (Kind of like the Tok'ra in Stargate: SG1, if anyone watches that show.) HappyBanana Now that the timelords are dead, there is no way for the Doctor to get a new regeneration cycle. But it's like Colin Baker said, as long as the Doctor is popular, the writers will come up with something to keep the Doctor around. Even if it's to his 38th generation. Though, since each incarnation of the Doctor lasts an average of 3 years, I doubt we'll be dealing with the Doctor's last life for about a decade anyway. xd Of course, if it can be done, maybe the Doctor can figure out how to get a new regeneration cycle on his own. It is scifi, after all.

With his special relationship with his Tardis I could see them having the Tardis save him somehow. It has already saved his life before. Although it caused him to regenerate I am not sure if when Rose saved the doctor the Tardis intended Rose to die and the 9th doctor to live or if the Tardis knew he would give up a life...
When Rose spoke to him she sounded more intelligent and she used different wording than she usually did. I think it was the Tardis talking or a mixture of the 2. When she said "My Doctor" I think it was the Tardis...

I'm pretty sure they won't just end the show, I mean, the pubilc voted to have it back! But, I really don't want them to brign in his son, cos it's would be Doctor Who then. It would have a stupid cheesy title like Doctor Who and Son. Mind you, I like cheesyness...

I'm not worried. If they want to keep him alive, they will. They could come up with something. If they were really pressed for ideas, the TARDIS, "sentimental old machine" that she is, might just bring him back. She's always good for a handy plot device...
Or, he did seem to rather sympathize with the Gelth. I can't imagine he'd really turn up his nose at a body no one is using any more. Perish the thought, but it's true.
And Eirwyn! eek My mum used to watch that when she was a kid! It scared her half to death! Daleks didn't bother her, but she all but hid behind the couch from Steptoe! Don't scare me! 'Course, I'm one to talk, since I'm the one who was just talking about zombie!Doctor...
