[this RP has been approved by Nolas :3 ]

Once upon a time, a couple lived happily ever after. As King and Queen of their land, it was their destiny to do so. And so, as it happens in all fairytales, they simply had to have a beautiful daughter. And she really must be named Aurora, as no other name could possilbly befit the future princess' beauty.

True to their expectations, the couple's child grew into as fair, refined, elegant and beautiful an angel as they could ever have hoped for. However, on this royal child's sixteenth birthday, and evil fairy, jealous of this grand "angel's" beauty cast a curse on the heir to the throne -- that she should fall into a deathly sleep, to never awaken except by true love's first kiss.

Unfortunately for the witch (and just about everyone else), the king and queen had not, as they had hoped, had a daughter. Instead, their child was a son. And so the evil fairy's spell backfired, and instead of cursing the supposed "princess" (as it was commonly believed that he be) into a deathly sleep, he became subject to bouts of narcolepsy that could only be undone with a kiss -- any would do.

Still, however, rumours radiated from the kingdom of a fair princess who was kept in slumber til she was bestowed with true love's first kiss.

Here's the basic set up! So I've really wanted to do some sort of fairytale oriented RP for a while... and I though it'd be fun to try it out with a slightly twisted version of Sleeping Beauty! :3

What I'm needing is... some royal suitors. Really, you're free to form relationships as you want among characters -- it's just meant to be a fun and amusing little parody/comedy/romance/whatever the hell happens kind of thing. 8D

That doesn't mean you shouldn't do you best, though! So, really, please keep posts (and profiles) top notch!

Here are some basic things to know about the RP/some rules (so you really should read this):

-Aurora's Kingdom is called "Far Far Away" (original, I know 8D;;; [/sarcasm])
-you can invent a Kingdom as you wish, but it'll have to pass through me first
-magic and fairies and all that other wonderful crud exists =P
-Aurora lives in a really, really, really, really tall tower. So, really, reaching 'her' is more a test of endurance against the hundreds of steps than a battle with a dragon. That was just created by exaggerated tales from those who couldn't bear the climb. Really, dragons can't possibly be bothered with humans. We're much too small and boring (I guess sleeping is more interesting?). 8D;;;;
-"Charming" isn't a name. Not in this fairytale, anyway. If you'd like to name someone that, then boot yourself over to Cinderella land. (Prince Charming looks creepy, anyway.... I don't understand why Disney can't make a descent-looking guy when they work so hard on all the cleavage.... >>;; )
-have fun. :3
-When sending a profile application, when it says "magic words," please write the name of your favorite fairytale. (Tales that are not well known, as well as mythology, are fine! Don't worry, I've read most of the Grimm's brothers tales, as well as some others, and any Greek mythology having to do with Persephone (as well as much more) so I'm likely to have some clue as to what you're talking about. Really, I just want to see what everyone likes. <33 ) If you don't fill this out, it means you haven't read the rules/stuff (and there's not that much, either!) so you won't be accepted. <33
-NO FLAT CHARACTERS! I hate these. ;D;
-No godmodding, please.
-keep it all PG13 in here! I know it's hard to resist the charms of an unsuspecting, sleeping (due to Narcolepsy) "princess," but... they're s'posed to be "gentlemen," right? 8D;;
-Be nice. <333
-follow all Gaia and guild rules, please. I dun' want the mods to crack down on me! xD;;

*optional (but helpful); as for the height/weight, don't worry, I'm bad at this, too... you can just say 'tall' or 'skinny'... but some sort of description of their physical build would be nice :3
**a picture is not enough. A lot of times it can be confusing when there's just an image and no text to explain it... and it annoys me. ;D;

Please take some time with the profiles! I really want some quality. :3 As for the RP sample, you don't need to make a new one for this RP. You can just copy and paste something from somewhere, if you'd like. But I wanna see how you RP before accepting/not you. :3 Good luck! x3

Accepted Profiles:

Gaia Name: Mint Thimble
Character Name: "Princess" Aurora (or "Rora" for short)
Race: human :B
Gender: despite common belief... male
Age: seventeen (meaning he's endured a year of Narcolepsy!)
Height/Weight*: He's about 5'5"... so pretty short for a guy -- and he's a lightweight, too... He's very slender, like a girl.
Appearance**: Quite often, Rora is forced into a princess' clothes, as well as a wig so that he looks... princessly. In his true appearance, he has super-straight, pale blonde hair that falls in layers to about shoulder-length. His typical wig, though, has super long pink hair that fades into a dark red around the ends -- rather like a sunset. He has impecably pale skin. His eyes are such an incredibly dark purple that they look black, unless one stands very close and there is good lighting.
Picture*: with wig... ignore the text with wig to without wig
Personality: Rora is very easily annoyed. He has an incredibly bad temper and has no objections to beating his suitors into bloody pulps. Really, before his sixteenth birthday he was not nearly so bad... but after so many times of waking up by a kiss from a guy who thought, since 'she' woke up that it must be true love... well, it's rather understandable that he's grown up so uncouth. Still, Rora can act surprisingly princessly, after having had so many, many lessons on the topic.
History: He's the princess Aurora. 'Nuff said. :B
Family*: King Handsome and Queen Lovely (nicknames; their real names are Herbert and Celestine)
Other: Chances are, he already doesn't like you. >B
Magic Words***: "Snow White and Rose Red." :3 Not the oh-so well known "Snow White"... this is a different Grimm's Brothers' tale. :3

Gaia Name: Nolas
Character Name: Sir Nicholas Shylton
Race: Human
Gender: Male
Age: 20
Height/Weight*: 5'11/162lbs
Appearance**: More often than not, Nic is donning his knightly armor which is of a brilliant silver. Beneath all the protection, he a very well built and tanned young man. He bears a few scars along his arms, back, and torso from the different quests and battles he's been through in his years of being a knight. He has a full head of shaggy, dark-brown hair with ocean blue eyes.
Personality: While he often likes to act as if he is all that is a perfectly heroic knight, Nic is extremely clumsy. He's very friendly and, at times, rather shy. Even around people he knows, he tends to get nervous. Despite these quirks, Nic is still courageous and will fight his hardest for what he believes in.
History: Ever since he was old enough to hold a sword, Nic trained to become a knight. Actual classes always bored him to death. He always wanted to get out into the action, where he believed the real fun to be. At the age of 17, he was finally knighted after years of training. In the past 3 years as a knight, he has been on countless quests, but one in particular interested him. He had heard tale of the beautiful 'princess' Aurora, and has spent the last six months in search of her. And that's where his story begins..
Family*: His parents, Arthur and Mary
Other: None
Magic Words***: The Golden Goose

Gaia Name: Nolas
Character Name: Algernon Estwin
Race: Elven Wizard
Gender: Male
Age: 163 (appears in his mid-20's)
Height/Weight*: 6'0/149lbs
Appearance**: Al has waist-length black hair which he often keeps tied back in a loose ponytail. While one of his eyes are of a brilliant green, the other is much paler, looking as if he has been blinded in the one. He is very thin and has a very pale complexion. He has a flawless body except for a deep scar on the inside of his forearm which looks to have burnt in (details in History).
Personality: He puts on a mask of kindness to put people in a false sense of comfort. In reality, he is arrogant, sarcastic, and selfish. This doesn't mean that he is the most malicious thing in the world. He can actually be decent if he feels like it, but if provoked, he becomes violent.
History: Al was born and spent most of his life in an elven clan with his parents. They were basically a peaceful folk who liked to remain secluded in their hidden villiage. When it was learned that Al had been dabbling in the dark arts(a very forbidden act), the clan leader ordered him to his death. His parents, however, begged for his life to be spared and after much consideration, it was decided he would instead be banished from the villiage. The elvish mark meaning 'unholy' was burnt into his arm before he was cast out, making sure he would never be accepted into any other clan. Instead of all this stopping him from using the 'forbidden' magic, it actually encouraged him to delve deeper into it.
Family*: His parents Faeryn and Nerwen
Other: He is very possessive and strives for what he believes he can't have.

Gaia Name: Whysperwind
Character Name: Kaya "Indigo" Rayvn(Indi or Raven most times)
Race: Unknown but believed to be half human/half pixie(or fair, whichever you use)
Gender: Male
Age: 18
Height/Weight*: 5' 3" about 100 lbs
Appearance**: Kaya is a short young man though he is rather fit. he tends to wears a purple or indigo robe over a pair of black pants and no shirt. He wears a set of silver bangles on his forearms and ankles that hold the sleeves of his robe in place and the legs of his pants above his feet. He doesn't wear shoes, prefering to use what little pixie magic he has to levitate just over the ground, rather than walk. He wears a black rope tied around his waist into a bow that looks like the outlines of wings on his back. He has purple hair that falls nearly to his waist with odd scarlett highlights in it. His eyes are a unique shade of golden amber and indigo, often the colors trading places so that one or the other always laces the edges of color and the other takes the center. He has no visible pupil in his eyes.(like the Hyuuga clan of naruto)
Picture*
Personality: Kaya is kind hearted an soft spoken mostly though when he get excited his tone rises and he can occasionaly be found shouting his joy without realizing it. He has a bit of pixie magic in his blood and knows it but keeps it to himself, not allowing it to go to his head but gladly sharing if asked. He does occasionally get angry if someone annoys him but he keeps his temper in check, preferin scathing words over physical violence.
History: Kaya was born into a faraway kingdom that never had a name. He grew up mostly by himself until he turned fifteen, when he was taken in as a magicians apprentice in th castle. He sent a lot of time studying with his teacher and practiced constantly though he often made mistakes. Now he spends much time in the main castle of Far Far Away helping o clean with his mediocre magic. When he heard the rumors of "Princess" Aurora and the cursa placed upon her...he wished to break the spell and so he set out to find the tower and in doing so, study the curse so that he may find a cure. He was never interested in the whole "kiss the girl" part because of other interests, namely the castle's head, male cook.
Family*: None that he knows of though the "Violet Fairy" is his mother. She is a lesser known fairy that is the younger sister of the Red and Blue fairies.
Other: Kaya is Gay and knows it but he is willing to kiss the "Princess" in order to wake "her" if he is able to.
Magic Words***: Pinnochio(think that's how it's spelled)

Gaia Name: SonataBlue
Character Name: Prince Ryland of Atlantis
Race: Merman (see history)*
Gender: male.
Age: 22
Height/Weight: 6'4" with tail fin, 6' 0" without. // lanky>? Ryland doesn't ever tell his weight.
Appearance**: Ryland has clear blue eyes and sleek red hair that sweeps across his brow to the side. His shorter, layered hair always looks shiny and wet-- but in actuality, it is usually dry when he is out of the water. The prince's appearance as a merman is no different than his cursed human display except there is a crimson tail that is attached to his lightly tanned, lanky torso.
Picture*: none yet
Personality: Ryland is very sarcastic and a little distant. He certainly feels a sense of competition with Aurora for every eligible human bachelor seems to just be flocking to the Kingdom of Far Far Away. He's a free spirit having left home so early to try to find 'love' or just get rid of his nagging curse and doesn't take kindly to anyone speaking down to his figure. He's really confident in his skin-- whether it's in trying to coax a kiss out of someone he likes (or doesn't), or smacking someone upside the head. Of course, in the right company-- he's always on his best behavior.
History: Ryland, of course, is well aware of his sexuality. At the age of 15, he fell in love with a man. The only problem was... he'd never met the guy. He'd only watched this man from afar-- because he was, well, human. Following that encounter, an evil witch found out about his hidden desire to be human, if only to meet his true love. She put a curse on him- for the youth to be merman by night and human by day. Ryland's parents were enraged by the terms the evil woman set: he had to be kissed by his true love to be set free. Determined to keep their son with them, they locked Ryland in his room. When sunrise came, Ryland turned into a human. Despite their efforts, the prince began to drown in their underwater Kingdom. He meets merman suitors there by night when he is able and searches land by day for this so-called 'true-love.' What he once wished for has become his terror for the last seven years.
Family*: The King and Queen of Atlantis. He also has a younger brother, Oriel.
Other: He thinks Aurora is a sell-out for getting 'cured' by just any kiss and not true love's.
Magic Words***: Peter Pan

Gaia Name: Mint Thimble
Character Name: William Tell, Jr.
Race: human, though not quite (see history)
Gender: male
Age: eighteen
Height/Weight*: 6'0" -- and he's thin, not sure of exact weight
Appearance**: Will has lightly tanned skin. He is rather tall, and lanky. His brown hair is on the long side for a male and usually tied at the nape of his neck with either a dark red or navy ribbon. His eyes are an incredibly bright emerald (ignore picture). He has a small bandage on the center of his forehead, which he never removes.
Picture* x
Personality: Will is usually a quiet, contained lad. He's the type of person who simply goes with the flow -- someone who, though they have an opinion, usually opts not to voice it. He tends to get caught up in other people's passions without even mentioning his own. However, lately, he has begun to... snap. He had always been fine with being in the shadows, with having his voice unheard, but lately that hasn't been so....
History: William grew up as the son of an incredibly famous archer. There once came a bet where the father wagered his son's life -- if he could shoot an apple from atop his son's head from 100 feet away, he would be proclaimed the best archer ever. Naturally, it didn't go as the story says -- the son lost his life to his father and ended up with an arrow in his forehead. However, in his dying moments, he called out to the local horror in his agony and made a deal -- William, the son, would 'live'.... but his life would be dedicated to having revenge upon his father. The magician had always hated his father, who was a prestigious and well-liked man, but who had often butted heads with the magician.
Family*: His father. His mother died when he was young and he has no siblings.
Other: William has been teaching himself magic -- most of which is dark.
Magic Words***: William Tell, of course! xD

Gaia Name: Nolas
Character Name: Remy
Race: Djinn
Gender: Male
Age: Real Age Unknown
Height/Weight*: 6'2/173lbs
Appearance**: Black, just shy of shoulder-length hair. Teal eyes which take on glowing appearance whenever he gets excited or is performing magic. Tall, with an athletic build. (Note: He's able to change his appearance if he so wishes.)
Picture: http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a190/Dhaundrin/___Raspoutine____by_rannsama.jpg
Personality: Very playful, but often only in ways he finds amusing. Which in most cases, involves causing trouble. He can't be described as evil in the least. Simply mischevous beyond reason. But could you honestly blame someone for wanting to have fun after spending decades or more at a time stuck in a lamp? But he can be more than just a pain in the a**, of course. If you happen to actually gain his loyalty and respect, he will be one of the truest of friends.
History: Many centuries ago, he had foolishly wished himself a genie. He wasn't aware that doing so would be putting a limit on the magic he could use, as well as imprisoning himself in a lamp until a new master found him. Through the long years, he finally got over the idea of being a "slave", and came to enjoy his time free of his lamp.
Family*: None
Other: There are limits to his magic when he is performing it at his own will, and rules to go with wishing. His lamp's location is currently unknown. The question is, who will find it?
Magic Words***: Aladdin

Gaia Name: Mint Thimble
Character Name: Hina [hee-nah](or "Francis," depending on when you speak to him)
Race: most of the time he's human. The other times he is a frog.
Gender: male
Age: eighteen
Height/Weight*: Hina, as Hina, is only about 5'4 (meaning: shorter than 'Rora) and is very slender and a lightweight. Hina, as Francis, is about 5'10" and is also slender, but has muscle, too. (I know this is confuzing, but it shall be explained!) As a frog, he is... small.
Appearance**: Hina has short, pale green hair with short bangs, which are swept to the side. His eyes are a dark storm blue color. His skin is incredibly pale and clean. He wears a flower clip on the right side. Francis Has dark green hair and bright cyan-colored eyes. He wears a flower ring on his right middle finger. As a frog, he is... small and green, and wears a collar with a flower on it.
Picture*: why I shouldn't rush when I color Dx
Personality: Hina is bright and peppy and happy. He has about the same personality, no matter his appearance, but it is slightly different when he "becomes Francis." Francis isn't an actual person or different personality, it is simply his nickname for when Hina "transforms(ish)" to be the taller, darker-haired version of himself, because he says his usual name is too cutesy for such a look. He is incredibly flirtatious and, though his cheeks are often flushed, he doesn't get embarrassed easily. He's a big tease and likes messing with others.
History: Hina is from Neverland, a large country right next to Far Far Away. Hina was originally born a normal child -- however, on his fifteenth birthday, when Celestine tried to pair up Aurora and Hina, Hina's older brother grew so jealous that he cursed the child. Now, instead of simply being himself, he had three personas: his usual self, Francis, and a frog. Hina was only supposed to have turned into a frog, but his brother had gotten the spell wrong and instead Hina now can go through a series of actions to change himself from form to form. quick diagram
[if you can't read my hand writing, it basically says:

Hina turns into a frog from being splashed with water. The frog turns back into Hina with a kiss. Hina turns into Francis by sneezing, and vice versa by coughing. Francis becomes the frog by being splashed with water and the frog becomes Francis by being picked up/held/hugged or thrown against a wall (from the original fairytale).
Family*: Hina has an older brother, a mother, a father, and two sisters.

Magic Words***: the Frog Prince

Gaia Name: Whysperwind
Character Name:
Pandora A.K.A Pan
Panick
Race: human
Gender: Male, though often mistaken for a rather flat chested girl
Age: 14
Height/Weight*: 3' 5"
Appearance**: Pandora is severely short, even for is age, coming up at only three and a half feet tall give or take an inch. He has soft bluish hair that he keeps in a sort of "microbraids" style that closely resembles drealocks, though without the problem of never having them come out without shaving his head. He has easter green eyes with flecks of hazel brown in them. He can usually be found wearing a very short toga that just barely comes low enough to hide his undergarments...which are unusually small briefs. He wears a pair of knee high stringed boots and a pair of sleeves that are tied on just above his elbows and fall nearly to his knees when his arms are relaxed at his sides. All of it is usually white but he can sometimes be seen wearing the same outfit in tan, black or a mixture of any of the three.
Picture*
Personality: Pandora is a bubbly boy most of the time, giggling about everything. He doesn't tend to get downhearted over anything and even goes as far as trying to make others see life the way he does. That's normally at least. When he gets overcome by Panick, he turns around copletely and becomes a Cynical, Depressed gothically obsessed Emo boy. Panick doesn't care one way or the other about anything but he tends to act as if he wishes the whole world would just die and put itself out of his misery.
History: Pandora comes from a long line of severely surious and light hearted people. He had an ancestor who decided to open a box placed by the Olympian Gods on earth, just out of curiosity mind you, and unleashed the miseries. He seems to have followed in her footsteps to a degree. He allowed his curiosity to get the better of him when he was just a little boy and earned the right to become host to a new misery called Panic. Now the two tend to trade back and forth with their shared body. Pandora doesn't really care but Panick wants out and to be free to wreak havoc on the world like his brothers and sisters.
Family*: Pandora has a brother, host to Envy, and sister, host to Gossip.
Other: Pandora tries not to let his curiosity control him anymore but tends to fail at it quite often, getting him into all kinds of trouble. His favorite phrase is "I'm glad I'm not a cat."
Magic Words***: Pandora's Box

Gaia Name: Landon Skie
Character Name: Hayden White
Race: Caucasion/Human
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Height/Weight*: 6'1-6'2" 180 lbs
Appearance**: Hayden is a relaxed, tan, tonned young man. He stands lazily, and stares relentlessly. His bright blue eyes can tear through someone's mind, though it's rare to see his eyes fully open. His oval shaped face and slightly enlarged lips make his appearance more ethnic than his ancestors actually created him to be, and his blank expression is easily mistaken for crudeness.
Picture*: I prefer to leave it up to the imagination
Personality: Hayden is a relaxed adolescent with absolutely nothing to offer. Though he is very visually pleasing to most, he puts a persona of wanting absolutely nothing to do with anyone or anything. This is in fact a false face; his fear of people drive him away from the sweet, charming young man he can be. Though, he'd never admit to anything of the sort, his heart is pure and his mind is hungry.
History: A sort of upper-class peasant who makes his living through slight of hand and the ocassional peice of art.
Family*: Not important.
Magic Words***: I don't really have a favorite fairy tale, however I like disney movies like Cinderella, and I'm rather fond of Tristan + Isolde aswell.

Gaia Name: Mint Thimble
Character Name: Rowan
Race: selkie (a water spirit that takes the form of a seal; however, they can remove their seal skins to take human form)
Gender: male
Age: about eighteen, though he's not really sure
Height/Weight*: Rowan is about 5'8 and slender. He has enough muscle and fat not to look malnurished, but he's still kinda scrawny.
Appearance**: In his seal form, Rowan is still quite young. He is a brown seal, like what is found in Ireland. His eyes are large, shiny and black. In human form, his has short, straight, layered brown hair, pale skin and large black eyes. His nose has a bit of a natural rosy tint to it. He has a small button nose and slightly pouty lips. His hands are not particularly big or small -- just average. His hair is very soft and fluffy.
Picture*: as human
Personality: Rowan is quite obstinate when it comes to certain things. He's not one to meekly agree to things, but he does (at least for the most part) know his place. Though he is strongly opinionated, he is not one to argue with royalty. Despite his stubborness, Rowan has a very slow temper. He is very bad at acting mad or cold towards others and cannot stay mad long. However, when he feels that he has been wronged too much, he snaps and will hold a grudge for an incredibly long time.
History: Rowan belonged to a normal selkie family. One day, he had taken off his seal skin in order to bathe, only to find it gone. It turned out that a man had seen him, fallen in love, and stollen the skin so that Rowan would have to marry him. Greatly angered, the boy tried many times to retrieve his seals skin, but has every time failed and been at the mercy of the man. Finally, the man went a travelling without telling Rowan -- so, now, the boy searches for him in order to get his revenge.
Family*: He has a lot of siblings and family in general -- too many to list.

Up the tallest tower in the land of Far Far Away, amidst a shroud of both cloud and mystery, in the very highest room of all, sat the "princess" Aurora. Yes, sat. Currently, his hands were full of cards - as were those of several pixies. The young, beautiful "maiden" appeared to be concentratin very hard, his near-black eyes narrowed in though as he stared at the cards in front of himself. He raised a hand, as if about to make a move, when, suddenly...

He collapsed onto the floor, a loud snore emminating from his mouth from amidst a veil a sunset-like wig hair. The pixies sighed in an obvious "not again" sort of way and one of them said, "Damn... every time. I had a royal flush, too..."

Really, it was a normal enough occurance. Time and time again, the prince would simply... slump over in the deadest of sleeps (apart from the real dead sleep). The pixies lifted him onto an ornate and overly girly bed. After they had arranged him sufficiently so that he looked the very image of a maiden waiting for the wakening of true love's first kiss, they drew the curtains close around his bed.

"Well... it's about time for another suitor to appear... we've gotta clear up this mess," one of the fairies said as they began to pack away the cards.

"Right. I'll get the popcorn."

Nicholas was slumped in his saddle, eyes drifting shut tiredly as he rode along the poorly-made, deserted path through the forest. Even his horse's head drooped low, as if reflecting how his master felt. It was getting terribly stuffy in all his armor, but he was thankful for the bit of shade the trees provided against the menacing sun. The only thing he wished for now was a cool breeze to pass by.. and a warm meal.. and a comfortable bed.. and some sign of civilization!

It seemed like forever since he had last stopped to rest in a town. There had been nothing for miles, but he wasn't about to turn back now. For Nicholas was set on his current quest. Finding the princess Aurora and waking her from her supposedly eternal slumber. But he was beginning to lose faith that he would ever find her, or anything for that matter. To pass time, he tried to picture what she would look like. Blonde hair and brown eyes? Brown hair with blue eyes? He went through so many delicate shapes and colors that he began to bore himself, soon transforming what was supposed to be a beautiful princess into a multi-colored, raging beast. At least that would be something interesting to come across. Better than the same picture of trees, trees, a rock, and more trees.

Sighing, Nic's hand reached up to remove his helmet so he could get some fresh air. The movement, however, caused his armor to clank together, startling his horse. It set off into a quick, unsuspected canter. Nic hardly knew what happened next. The visor of his helmet slammed shut in front of his eyes and the next thing he knew, something very solid collided with his chest, sending him backwards off his frightened ride.

Dizzily and not bothering to get up off his back, he reached up to push his visor back again. Above him loomed the cause of his unhorsing. A tree branch.. He was unhorsed by a tree brance.. Sitting up, he began mumbling curses at his horse, his armor, and above all, the world. "If I don't make some actual progress soon, I'm going to--!!" he began, but cut off his words when he spotted something in the not-so far distance. An extremely tall tower, it seemed.. "That's more like it. It's about time I got somewhere."

With a short whistle, his horse came trotting back toward him. It seemed as if both of them were much more awake than before. Remounting, he said, "Alright.. Let's see if we can't find out where this princess is suppose to be, huh?"

"...really is out like a light," one of the fairies finished saying. "Geeze, this gets more boring everytime. You'd think we'd be free to leave -- I mean, we're only godparents. And the real parents are off on some royal vacation while we babysit the royal, slumbering pai--" But something had caught the fairy's eyes. He was a bit of a shrimp, really -- even smaller than the other pixies -- and with lime green hair to boot. His bright blue eyes followed the progress of one shining knight on his way to the castle. At this sight, a grin began to grow steadily upon his lips.

"Right, everyone. The next guy is here. You know the routine, right? The whole... 'we are the fairy-whots-its guarding this place and the princess within.... blah blah blah, up the steps... and--" he looked as if he had been about to continue, only to find that the other fairies had left him behind. He grumbled slightly to himself and quickly followed after, darting through the open window behind his friends.

Down below, the group -- a trio, as was traditional, although there were really many more of them -- came towards the knight to adress him, though they were careful to stay out of reach (sometimes the princes or knight or whatever thought they were evil and tended to... eherm, "stick them").

"Good sir," one of the fairies said. "What are you seeking?" he asked, a light, charismatic smile on his features as he adressed the man.

With the approach of the fairies, Nic's horse reared up slightly, but luckily, the knight actually had ahold of the reigns this time. Settling the beast with a stroke on its neck, he looked suspiciously up at the three. He had heard stories of how tricky some particular fairies were supposed to be. Leading unsuspecting people off their intended path and into inevitable doom. But looking at that bright smile, he thought that there was no way these creatures could be foul. In fact, they looked rather sweet.

"I'm, uh," he started, but realized how muffled his voice sounded through the helmet. He removed it completely before continuing in what he believed to be a 'heroic' tone. "I have travelled many miles and faced many treacherous obstacles in search of the Princess Aurora. Praytell, have you information of her?" There was a short pause before he added somewhat nervously, losing that imposing tone. ".. please?"

"Didja hear that, Mims? He said 'please'.... I think I like him already," giggled one of the other fairies - a girl with a shock of bright pink hair. The third fairy, a much older, blue one shot the small girl a quieting glance and she hushed immidiately, though she had to keep a hand posed over her mouth to keep herself from laughing. The blue fairy, now identified as 'Mims' turned in a rather more motherly fashion to the knight.

"Well, of course you have, deary. The tower isn't in the middle of nowhere for now reason, you know..." she began kindly.

"--Well, it might be. I mean, who really needs too tall a tower this far out--" the pink fairy began, but Mims once again sent her a "hush-hush" sort of glance.

"That is to say, yes, we do know of her...." Mims glanced the man over for several moments, tutt-tutting quietly to herself. "Really, if you'd like to see her, dearie, she's right in the tower. Do try to last, won't you? It's a bit of a climb."

Nic's eyes shot from each fairy in turn as they spoke, as if watching a tennis match. They weren't doing much to help his nerves, and his hands kept clenching and unclenching the reigns. But the mention that the fairies knew of the princess, caused him to straighten excitedly, such a move that he almost tumbled out of his seat once more. "Really?! You know of her?" he asked, a mixture of surprise, relief and overall joy rushing over him.

Finally, his quest was almost to an end and he would finally get to see the princess!

Nic then realized how childish he must sound in his excitement and settled back down, but the new determined gleam in his eye was still obvious. "Hah! As if a few sets of stairs is going to stop me!" he stated. "There's not a thing in the world that's going to make me turn back now." Of course, the idea that the 'princess' could actually be a boy never crossed his mind.

Trotting the last little bit toward the tower, he jumped off his horse while it was still in motion, stumbling only slightly(amazing for him) and quickly unsheathed his sword. Looking as if he were in a battle stance, his eyes shot this way and that, occasionally spinning the weapon to warm his hands up.

"Alright!" he exclaimed clearly trying to get pumped for something. "Where's the dragon?" Apparently he had heard the false tales of failed knights who told of a terrible fire-breathing dragon. "I'm ready for anything!"

At this, the youngest, pink-haired fairy let forth peals of laughter that sounded much more like the tinkling of tiny bells than should have been possible - but then, she was a fairy.

"Hush, Flora," Mims said, though not rudely.

But the girl couldn't stop. Eventually, her fits of giggles (as well as the way she had been rolling about in the air) subsided to a bear minimum, leaving her teary-eyed, but rellitively sensible. "Mmf... no... dragon..." she began, her entire face working to keep from bursting out into an uncontrollable grin. "Really, what dragon would bother with a princess for anything more than to eat her?" Flora began before beginning again her process of side-splitting giggles.

"What Flora means is that there has never been a dragon guarding this castle - that was just hype and rumors created by failed knights and princes, who were too ashamed to admit that they were defeated by a flight of stairs," the green fairy explained sensibly, that same charming smile on his lips. Of course, he didn't mention the shame of those who had realised they had traveled ohsofar for a princess who was actually a... prince. And they had kissed that prince. "Really, there's nothing overly dangerous here... just us. And the princess." And the princess was what was dangerous.

At the mention of the lack of a dragon, Nicholas lowered his sword until the sharp tip dug lightly into the ground. A deep blush stained his cheeks a vibrant red and he felt warmer than ever, hearing the pink-haired one's laughter. Getting laughed at by someone he knew was bad enough, but hearing that.. fairy, of all things, laugh was on a completely different scale of embarassment.

"So.. there's no dragon," he repeated slowly, mostly to confirm to himself. He even took a final glance into the sky to make sure something wasn't about to swoop down from above before sheathing the blade. He didn't know whether that came as a disappointment or not to him. At least he wouldn't leave with anymore scars(or so he thought), or worse, burned alive and eaten. But even yet.. if it was only stairs between a knight/prince and his princess, what was the big deal?

The only solution that Nic could come up with was that his earlier, bored thoughts were right. Maybe this Aurora really was a beast of a girl, and the reason none ave succeeded was because none wanted to. But why would all the rumors continue of her insurpassable beauty? Nic, almost completely forgetting about the fairies for the moment, was winding himself up in thought. Either way, he was going to climb to the top of that tower and see for himself. Afterall, he had come too far, like he said.

"In that case, I'm just one step closer to getting to her then," he said, leading his horse to a tree to be tied up. Once that task was done, he approached the tower with new confidence. "I have the stamina of a hunting hound! These stairs stand no chance." And without waiting to see if the trio were going to follow, he entered the tower at a bit of a trot.

"Right. No dragon," intoned the green fairy, who was named Mint.

Flora hooted with laughter, swooping down to the base of the stairs to call up after the knight, "Have fuuuun. But, you know, it'd be a lot easier if you'd start with out the armor... it'll come off eventually, anyway... won't be able to climb too far with it... but it'd be easier on you if you just left it now!" Though her attitude was all giggles and uncontrollable, rolling laughter, her words, of course, rang true. There really were a lot of stairs - and they were steep, the kind of stairs that made you feel like you wanted to puke from dehydration after reaching the top. She really seemed to have a fun time of laughing at various knights and princes as they approached their goal.

Nicholas halted in the small(very small, considering what lie ahead) progress that he made, staring down at his armor. Well, since there was no dragon afterall, the armor would be rather useless. More of a burden than anything else, really. Maybe these fairies weren't bad at all. It did seem a good piece of advice, if anything.

So, with practiced motions, Nic's armor was off in a matter of minutes and placed neatly along side the steps. The only thing that remained was the sword hanging at his hip. It wouldn't be good going up there completely defenseless. Besides, he always felt insecure without a weapon within hand's reach.

With the armor gone, the knight felt much lighter on his feet, not to mention cooled down. After a quick stretch of the arms, Nic gave a sort of saluting wave to the fairies. "Thanks," he said, still feeling rather uncomfortable talking to them, but still thankful for the advice. He didn't believe there could really be much else they could warn him about, so he once more started his ascent of the tower.

But it wasn't even after 10 minutes that Nic began to feel the strain in his calves. "Ok.. Maybe I just started at a bad pace," he said, breath already starting to come in heavily. "Just slow it down a bit. The Princess isn't going anywhere." Another 10, and his progress had slowed considerably. He was almost as tired as seeing the stone scenary as he had been of the forests outside. Not to mention he was getting slightly dizzy from the constant twisting of his path. At one point, he lost his footing completely, sending him back several steps. That fallback left him sitting down to catch his breath.

"No wonder everyone else gave up," he muttered, hand wiping a bead of sweat from his brow. "This is a never-ending tower."

So much for having the stamina of a hunting hound.

And so, fleeing with glee, the fairies flew up to where Aurora lay -- to prim and preem him to perfection. "Her" long, sunset-colored hair lay in beautiful, shining streams down the bed, the light from the window dancing as "her" breathing ruffled the strands slightly. The fairies had even gone so far as to wedge his mouth open slightly and cast an anti-snore charm on the prince.

One fairy, however, had stayed behind -- Flora. This time, it was her job to see the man up to the top (after all, it was all rather boring if he didn't make it anyway). She darted quickly through the narrow chamber, easily catching up with the man in a darting stream of pink. "Oh, my, you'll never reach her like this. Now, since you were ever so polite, really and I did say I'd taken a liking to you... I'll help you out a bit," she said with a grin as she alighted easily beside the man.

She leaned down and gently touched his aching calves with delecate finger, muttered something, and immidiately an electric shock corsed through the man's body. "Oops," she said lightly. "Bit strong, there... really, haven't mastered assistance spells yet. Oh well. No pain, no gain, right? Have fun." And with that, she flew off, leaving the man with his newly revitalised (for until he reached the top, that is) limbs, giggling all the way.
