For the time being, it seemed that Ariston was alone! Now, such an emphasis on something so silly is needed, because for the morning he was able to do what he does best, and just think about himself. He flew to his favorite pond, and gleamed at his reflection. It was something he hadn't done in quite some time, and it was well deserved. It was always a good reminder of what he was, and his eyes glimmered with delight.

After collecting himself and having a perfect reminder that well, he looked better then ever, he returned to the air quickly. Since there was barely a breeze, the wind wouldn't hurt or disturb his hair. Plus, the weather was just perfect, and he needed to work his wings every now and then. He soared back and forth, never going too high in the air. He enjoyed to be at a distance where others saw him anyways, and making a golden commotion was his favorite.

So, after one last soar over a group of mares, in which he heard cheers and hellos, he stopped at a smooth pasture, and decided to absorb a bit of sun. He really wasn't in the mood to talk to any mares, they just took too much energy, and if he wasn't in the mood, he knew he wouldn't try hard enough. With a flick of his hair, he walked forward, peering at bits of flowers that were scattered about.

Ariston wasn't the only one taking advantage of the lovely morning air; though perhaps a bit less bright, Antony was certainly no less dramtic as he winged his way through the sky, his dark wings a striking contrast to the pale blue of the sky.

Though it had taken him a lot longer to grasp the intricacies of flight than his brother and sister, he'd found himself loving it as much as if he were a wind himself. Though his leathery wings were less swift in the air than the feathered wings of his father and siblings, they were even more powerful and enabled him to stay aloft for much greater periods of time. Consequently, he'd rather taken to extended periods of flight when he was on his own, as was the case today.

Executing a somewhat lazy roll in the air, he almost missed seeing the white figure down below. How, he wasn't exactly sure; Ariston's white stood out like a sore thumb. But as it was, only a brief flash of white galncing across his field of vision caused him to look down, then squint, then grin.

"HEY ARISTON!!"

Ariston turned his body to see Antony approaching. "Well, hello there!" This was the fist time that Ariston had seen Antony without his father, and he was actually suprised for a moment. It was hard to realize that Antony WAS all grown up, and able to go off on his own from time to time. "How are you this fine day?"

He made himself comfortable, and flipped his hair in response. "How have things been for you? I believe I have seen you chatting away on my travels, but, I am not suprised seeing that you are Guilian's son." He chuckled, wondering if Antony was really popular. He wouldn't be suprised, it was a good trait that Guilian handed down.

"Tell me, anything new in your life?" It was sort of nice, to have Antony in front of him. He could only beam at the boy, and he was happy that of all people to run into, it was Antony.

He really hadn't seen Neve or Nic in quite some time, but he was always happy to at least run into Antony.

Coasting down to a smooth landing (the result of god knows how long practicing), Antony flashed Ariston a toothy grin as he folded back his wings and shook out his mane. He hadn't really had any plans for the day, so running into Ariston was an honest to goodness stroke of good fortune. He'd always liked his father's friend, ever since their first meeting back when he was a wide-eyed foal, and having a chance to talk to him was guaranteed to be interesting.

Also weird, as he realized after taking stock of the situation. Had he ever just talked to Ariston alone? Probably not; his father had always been about. Oh well, you live, you grow, you discover you can carry on a conversation alone...it's all good.

"Oh, I can't complain, I suppose. It's a lovely day to be out, to be flying, and to be alive." Woot for small talk. "And yeah, things have been going well...but you seem to know that! You know, it's not nice to spy on people, Ariston, even if you DO know their father."

Not that the idea was believable. The day that Guilian either spied himself or set someone to spy would be the day Tony'd eat his wings!

However, he wished he had more to say in response to the older stallion's question. Was anything new for him? "Well, you probably wouldn't think anything I'm doing is exceptionally interesting, Ariston. You know, chatting with friends, meeting with mares, discovering that there's a lot more to action than you and my father make it seem..." This was true. He always managed to establish a repoire with mares, but when it came to anything more? No luck.

"Did you ever have issues figuring out why mares act the way they do, Ariston?" Honestly, that was a good question. Maybe there was something he just wasn't picking up...

"I wasn't spying my boy!" He shook his head playfully and smiled at Antony, "But either way, if anything that is a good thing, right? That you have been so social and such." He grinned, feeling less youthful at the changing of times. Antony was off on his own now, and Ariston was well, a father.

At Antony's next comment Guilian raised a brow slightly. "Now now, its hard to put me in the same position with your father, he is a legend in itself! And, sadly I am not the best advice giver for females, I do not appreciate them as much as you or your father do." Which was true, his beauty was always far more perfect then theirs, "But I can say that I know they are complicated, and a pain in the butt at times."

Well, it seemed Antony was a bit flustered about something! "So, why bring up such a question? Are you having some kind of issue?" That was no good, he didn't want to see Antony wasting his time over females. "Females will always be complicated, its easier to win over their emotions so that you have full control of the situation."

And of course, some females were too smart for that sort of thing. "I don't waste my time on insane challenges, especially if a female won't give me the time of day. I really have no idea what goes on in their heads, they will remain a mystery to me." He laughed at the thought.

Social, yeah. He was certainly social, that was true, and that fact made him smile sheepishly at the other stallion. "Social, maybe, but there's social and then there's social, you know?" The logic made sense to him, at least, and hopefully would be comprehensible to Ariston.

At least Ariston had a sense of humor, as he displayed with the comments about Guilian. Chuckling, Antony gave Ariston a teasing smile. "You make Dad sound like an insatiable monster, almost...or else a god of some sort. As if we don't know that you could be just as bad if not worse, if you weren't so picky." He couldn't resist that jibe; one of the things he'd learned about Ariston during the course of his life was that he was much, MUCH more selective about mares than Guilian. However, there was a lot to be said about the wisdom of what Ariston said afterwards.

"No kidding. I just don't get it, Ariston. Mares have a sex drive, right? They obviously like it just as much as stallions do, or else my father wouldn't live like he does, right? So why is it that I can be getting along great with mares, have long, meaningful conversations and generally have fun, only to have them clam up or outright deck me when the subject of sex comes up?" As he'd been talking, Antony had started pacing; now, he was all but wearing a path in the ground. "I know that they've liked me; I've seen enough blushes to know that. So what's the problem?"

Sighing, he turned and looked at the older stallion. "Am I missing something?"

"Alright." Ariston grinned at looked at Antony, happy to address the problem at hand. "What kind of mares are you hanging around, first of all. Because, there are a TON of youngins lately, and that's the most unlikely way to go." True story, the youngins were not only inexperienced, but they had no clue as to that sort of stuff. "Its not that they are hating on you, they just are too embarrassed, and thus, you walk away frustrated."

Back in the day, Ariston had had that problem before- it just happens, and once a male is able to find the right females, everything will be golden for them. "Females are more similiar to males than most think, but they have more complicated steps that need to be considered. Females are waay emotional, so some of the harder ones 'imagine' their males one way, or so on. So, if you are not the exact image, then there is no chance." Or, some were just crazy, literally, as Ariston proclaimed it.

He laughed that Antony mentioned his 'pickyness'. "Well, I have some personal reasons to be picky but, that's just the way I am. I think you are actually being hard on yourself, especially since you aren't doing anything wrong." Females did that to males, it was just a way of life.

"You really don't have a problem, but maybe you need to reconsider who you are hanging around, and what values they have, etc."

...Wow. Though he was attempting to make sense out of what Ariston was saying, by the time the older stallion was winding up the only look Antony was managing was one of total and utter blankness. "So...you're saying that females are basically excessively complicated and good luck to you in trying to figure them out? Gee, THAT sounds encouraging."

Ah well, somehow he'd started to realize that there was more to mares and mating than just discussing the idea. Obviously it was a skill that needed fine-tuning over a great period of time.

Oh well, he'd just keep plugging away on his own. Lord knows he wasn't going to figure out that much like this!

Smiling in a pleasant and COMPLETELY non-subversive and deliberately subject-changing manner, he looked over at Ariston and then asked, "so, how are the kids doing these days, Ariston? The boys still skulking in the shadows or whatever?" Yep, nothing deliberate about that at all!

"Well, I apologize if it came out that harshly Antony!" But, what else could Ariston say? In his mind it was entirely true. "What are your thought on females then, I am interested to know. Especially if it is better then mine. But, from experience, I can say that each female should be treated individually since they all have different needs and emotions." He nodded after finishing, feeling sorry that this was all so confusing.

"The children?" That was an odd twist of converstaion. "They are fine, as spunky as usual." Ariston almost felt exhausted on that thought, and he quickly looked back towards Antony, who was his main focus at the moment.

"So, why stray away from such an interesting concept? Maybe you and I could solve the mysteries of females if we work together!" Ariston was only lucky in his encounters with females because he was so good looking. His wit and charm were nothing compared to others. "I am suprised to see that you are conflicted with such, as far as I know you are a confident talker. I would be sure females enjoy that!"

Oy. By now, Antony was seriously starting to think that when it came to females, perhpas trying to muddle things out by one's self was the best route. There had to be some sort of rhyme or reason naturally present to use logic, after all!

Ariston didn't seem to want to let the subject go, though, and Antony realized that he had to follow through with the topic, probematic or no.

"Thoughts?" As in, what sort of thoughts? "I like mares, as a rule, barring the ones that are too over the top or too full of themselves..." Maybe THAT was the problem, he had an appetite for the wrong sort of mare? But they always seemed to get along so well. Glancing over at the other stallion, Antony adopted a rueful look. "Have you ever been backhanded by a hoof, Ariston? I nearly had my jaw dislocated!"

Heh, those kind of mares were like, the complete opposite of what Ariston went for. But, he had other purposes, too. "Backhanded by a.. hoof?" His eyes widened, "You poor thing! I would never allow myself this damage you speak of." Which, again, was entirely true. There was a reason his body stayed its purest white, and he avoided bruises and cuts like a plague. "How could something like that happen? You are such a nice fellow Antony.."

Ariston looked at him with compassionate eyes. "That just doesn't make sense to me.." Hmph, it only he could get a hold of this mare, and maybe let Loveless know. Loveless woudl certainly handle the situation much better, especially if it involved Antony. "So, what did you do to avoid it?"
PostPosted: Wed Jun 06, 2007 8:57 am

Still grinning, Antony wiggled his jaw, remembering all too well the oh-so-pleasnat sensation of hoof cracking against bone. Yeah, that had hurt, but it had been his own fault. The very IDEA that he'd be hit had been foreign, so when it actually happened, his reaction time was a bit slower than the situation meritted. Oh well, live and learn.

Ariston's sympathy was nice, though. Tony had never mentioned that incident to Guilian, prefering to let his father imagine as he would. Besides...they weren't THAT identical. "Apparently the mare disliked my suggestion that we have a little fun. Still, she COULD have just said no, you know?" No kidding. Mares might be little, but they could be violent! "And that time, I didn't avoid it; the next time, I learned to dodge."

Ariston's own jaw hurt at the mention of Antony's, and shook his head angerly at the situation. "Well yes, I've always known females to be crazy but I must have been lucky with the violent ones." Ariston couldn't imagine a female kicking him to the face, that thought alone seemed worse then a nightmare!

"She easily could have said no, and that is what is so annoying about it. Guess that means we both have to keep our guard up against females." Which was a silly but a true way to look at it, especially when for females it was the opposite way around usually.

Now, Ariston wasn't one for gossip, but the thought of a mare damaging his good friend made him very angry. "Who is the female who did this to you?" He asked, calmly, but was really quite disturbed at the situation.

"Well besides this horrible incident, have others been alright?" Again he brought his eyes on Antony, more compassionately again. He certainly would not like Antony to get banged up by females as a habit, so he wondered if this one experience has affected him so.

"I think my best advice I could give is that it may be hard to look past one bad experience, but before you know it others come along just at the perfect time." Even he had had some bad female encounters, but as said, other ones were always around after some time.

Still rubbing his jaw (albeit without realizing it), Antony nevertheless shook his head in response to Ariston's question. One never told tales about the mares one spent time with, reagrdless of how that time was spent, and this was no different. "Let's just say she was a lesson, Ariston, and leave it at that. But now, let's give my pride a chance to respawn, please?"

Talk about embarrassing. Being kicked at the time hadn't been that bad from an ego point, but talking about it...yeah. Not that much fun, oddly enough.

"Otherwise I haven't been kicked, no, but like I said, it's harder to get a mare than I realized. We can be talking and having fun, but the SECOND that I mention sex, they're clammed up and taking off, almost. It's very perplexing." To put it mildly...and now they were back to square one.

He was right, and Ariston quietly refrained from questioning him. But, the only thing that bothered Ariston was Antony's complicated reaction to females. "That's what females do, though." He stated, blankly. "Well, there are some females that welcome sex, while others do exactly what you said. Don't give up on females, no all of them are like that." He stated, with a light nod.

Still.. this was complicated for Ariston, it had been awhile since he was 'in the game' so to speak.

"Once again I will state that it might just be a series of bad luck for now good boy, don't lost hope in the situation." He patted Antony on his back with his wing, and he held a bright smile. "Besides, you don't want to be wasting your time on females like that anyways, you know you deserve better." That was the Ariston way, of course.
