The evening had dragged on, taking the light and the beautiful sun down with it as it cast it's blanket of darkness over the sky. The twinkling of the stars did nothing to soothe the wildly beating heart of the mare as she stood in the center of the clearing, brown eyes wide and looking around frantically. This place. She remembered this place - but she didn't...remember this place. It was like an old photograph worn to the very barest of colors. The tree, it was...familiar. But what had she done here? It had only been a full day since she'd lounged under it and still she couldn't remember.
A tinge of pain shot through her - not physical, but purely emotional. Why did she always forget? A soft whinny as she trotted toward that tree, eyeing it suspiciously. What had happened here? Such a simple memory, gone. The poor girl was crushed.

Duran had never really been out anywhere in the dark. He was always home before dark, so that Wachiwi wouldn't worry. But tonight, he'd gotten curious. Just what was OUT there in the dark, even the early dark of the evening when the sun first went down and the sky was lit up with all sorts of colors?
So, Duran set out to explore. And what he found... well. Much prettier than the skies, if not a bit different. Duran had first spotted only a figure in the clearing, but upon getting closer, managed to make out a mare made of lots of curling hair. And doing what Duran does best, he made his entrance.
... By stepping into a hole and tripping. He yelped, and fell forward hard, groaning. Why did this always happen to him? He got up as quickly as he could, and offered a sheepish grin. "Uh... Hi there."

Suha had been far too busy trying to remember what she forgot to notice Duran making his entrance until the yelp broke through the silence of the night and she jumped, almost falling down on her rear but making a graceful recovery and instead forming it into a bow.
"Hello," she said, brows furrowing. Had she known this stallion before? He didn't seem familiar but with her mind who knew? Black locks fell over her face before she shifted her head to push them back and stood up again, "Are you all right?"

Duran blinked when she asked if he was alright, and grinned widely. "Oh, sure. I do that a lot." He explained, smiling at her. "Clumsy, I guess." He shrugged lightly, and watched her, tilting his head. Her hair was different than what he'd seen before. He smiled a little, and stepped forward.
"I'm Duran. What's your name?" He asked curiously, tilting his head slightly and making his mane fall a little into his eyes. He blew it out of the way, and righted his head, watching Suha.

Suha...was very lucky that she managed to remember her name, actually, and she offered a little smile, "Suha." She loved it simply because she remembered it. There were so few things that she could and so that name was something the mare clung to desperately. Often times she repeated it over and over to herself when walking. She would not let it go.
"It's nice to meet you, Duran." Even if she wouldn't remember him later! Hmph. A journal would come in handy, no doubt, though it was hard to write with hooves which made it impractical and impossible for the mare to use. Instead, she had to rely on her mind. Great tool, though it seemed she was writing with invisible ink most of the time.

Duran grinned a little, and nickered lightly, watching her. "That's a pretty name." He said, nodding slightly. Duran had a bit of a problem, acting like a colt most of the time. Poor Duran. He looked around, then looked at her. "So what're you doing out here in the dark?"
That was a dumb question, Duran. He chastised, since he too was obviously out in the dark, so it could've been the same reason HE was, to check it out. Such a dumb question.

"Just...Wandering," the mare answered, failing to mention that she was trying to remember what she did that day. Every night it was the same, in all honesty. "And thank you," she added as an afterthought to the compliment paid to her. "Duran is a nice name as well."
A long pause as she looked to him and then to the sky, "It's a beautiful night," she randomly observed, "Perhaps that's why I'm wandering about in it." Simple, no?

He nodded a little, and smiled. "Thank you. It's Duranjaya, really, but it's just easier to say Duran." He explained, on a whim. Why did he feel the need to spew everything to this mare? Was it because she was the first one he'd seen that wasn't related? It was weird!
Duran blinked at her observation, and looked up at the sky. In all honesty, he hadn't even noticed. He stared, a little awed by it, and then grinned slowly, nodding. "It is beautiful." He muttered, a little sheepish at having not noticed before. Then he looked at her again, and smiled. "Would you like someone to wander with?" He asked, bouncing from hoof to hoof impulsively.

"Duranjaya. I like that better. I'll call you that." For as long as she could keep it fresh! Maybe if she repeated it enough. The mare arched a brow when he began bouncing from hoof to hoof and she couldn't help but laugh, "Company is always nice," she agreed, "You may wander with me, if you'd like."
Tree would be given up in favor of company - company talked back. Trees just stood there. Like...well...trees. Made sense, didn't it? That was what they were, after all.

Duran blinked, and then grinned a little. He nodded. "Alright." He beamed, and looked around, curiously. Then he walked to her, and stood next to her, bouncing still from hoof to hoof. Old habits die hard. "So which way would you like to wander to, Suha?" He asked, giving her a beaming smile.
Which was Duran's classic smile, really. The beaming, boyish, charming grin.

"Mmm, I'm not sure. Any place is fine, honestly." Brown eyes moved back and forth, trying to decide which way to start walking. Decisions weren't usually her strong point and she frowned a bit, "Why don't you decide, Duranjaya?"
Ha! Thrust the decision off on the male. Sounded perfectly fine to her. When he smiled she returned it, tilting her head to the side and waiting for his decision. At least she didn't have to make it!
