This is a private RP between Lu and myself! And our respective Legends, X3.
It takes place in a park nearby the HQ, one with a walkway dividing the park in half, with many trees and luscious green grass, O:. And all that jazz, XD.

Hand in hand, they could easily pass off as regular siblings out for a stroll through the park, if not for their unusual attire and shifty behaviour [at least on Dare's part, April doesn't seem to think anything is wrong about this.]
"We'll cut through here, Turtle," he explains softly, looking around over his shoulders for the five hundred and eleventh time. Paranoid? Nah! "It'll be much faster than going around."
And, there's a less chance that someone who knows either of us will see us, he adds mentally to reason with his morality. Practically kidnapping a child was not on his list of things to do to avoid his past catching up with him.
April raises a hand to her eyes to shield their sensitive black middles from the sun, having caught sight of something fluttering not ten feet from her side. A butterfly dangles this way and that, flickering left and right against the backdrop of the high treetop skyline. She matches Dare's pace, the fact that her feet curve in like a pidgeon not seeming to bother her.

A little ways off the concrete path, a child of average height was balacing against an aged tree. Her tutu was a prestine white, the curving tails of which were held off the ground when she bent forward, leg outstretched and complete sideways. She stood there a moment, looking like a human letter T. She tucked her white wings close to her to more resemble a "normal" ballerina.
Standing up again, she shook a leaf from her hair. That was the problem with using a tree for balance. Stuff was bound to land on you. Gyre scratched her nose, shifting her swan mask to a more comfortable position.
She didn't seem to notice the two 'siblings' as she bent down to stretch again.

Something bigger, and much more bright catches onto the child's eyes, just left of her butterfly. Straying from the path, her hand slips out of Dare's as she trudges through the grass, mostly quiet at doing so. Her eyes remain fixated on the white of the subject's clothing, and how swiftly she makes her movements.
It takes a few seconds for Dare to realize she'd slipped away. He'd been looking in the opposite direction where a bird had recently flown off, startling him in his uneasy state. Whirling around, he can see the distracted child breaking through the grass with a set purpose of checking out the face behind the dress.
"April!" he groans rather loudly, regretfully forgetting to tone down his voice. He unconsciously ducks down while going after the girl, catching speed on her easily. "Where are you off to? I told you not to leave my side!"
He catches onto her shoulder, and she blindly tries to continue walking. Once she notices that she isn't moving, she first looks down at her feet as the cause, then up at Dare, wonderingly. He furrows his eyebrows, trying to repeat in his head that she doesn't understand the severity of their poorly executed escape.

Gyre stood up again and blinked, slightly perplexed. She didn't mean to bother anyone, and especially not someone who seemed to be in such a hurry. She moved away from the tree, if only a few inches, to stop and gaze at them in wonder. Strange. She felt a connection to the older man.
The swan giggled when she had forgotten her manners. "Sorry! I didn't mean to drag your sister away from you."
She shook her wings, stretching out the stiffness. The sister was most confusing to her. April, was it? April was quiet, but in an eerie sort of way. Was she alright? Fighting her concern, Gyre stepped back slightly. The last thing she wanted was to come in between two siblings.

Dare shakes his head at once, before even taking a look at the origin of the apologizing voice. "I'm sorry to bother you. My sister gets distracted by pretty and interesting things easily.. sometimes just unusual subjects will do.."
He sighs, lifting her up to carry her. April squirms gently, trying to get into a position where she can admire the white dress and - now that she's spotted them - wings. They're facinating things, she's discovered.
"Mostly anyway, actually. She's the most curious little turtle I've met." He laughs softly, glad to have something to soothe his nerves. Finally giving Gyre a good look, he tightens his hold on April while taking a step forward. He can now see why April had gotten so distracted.
Shrugging his guitar higher on his shoulder, he looks her up and down. "What're you doing out here alone?" he inquires, his tone different than his explaining one. This one is much more interested. He has his guesses as to her purpose out alone in the park, but wouldn't want to mess up with the terms and types of dancing, as he suspected that is what she is doing.

Gyre giggled again. He was like the perverbial big brother - always watching out for everyone. Maybe he was like a knight, too, looking out for his damsel in ditress? While she would have loved to be someone's damsel, she shook the thought from her mind. The swan appreciated the concern.
"I'm not actually alone... Momma and I went out for a stroll today - my first since I grew up - and then she got distracted. I'm not sure when she'll be back, so I decided to stretch."
Hands on her hips, she smiled. He was so courteous! But had she seen him before? She vaguely recognized the guitar. She curiously watched April watching her. Had she a fan now? "What brings you to the park, sir?" she asked politely.

He waves his free hand shortly, though can't prevent a smile. "Nahh, don't call me sir, you make me sound.. old!"
Dare wrinkles up his face comically at the thought, mostly for his sister's amusement. On cue, she gives him a rare sighting of her pearly whites, gone as quickly as it came. If it's as best he can get, he'll certainly take it. Gotta know your audience in order to make the right type of jokes.
"That's good, though," he muses, taking a step closer. Trees provide shade, and being out in direct sunlight kills one in such a thick, but awesome, jacket. April leans onto his shoulder, pigtails brushing against her shoulders. Her eyes have returned to Gyre, almost expectingly in fact. "Staying in one place, I mean. Continuing to move just ends up getting you lost."
He offers his hand, the guitar strap consequently sliding down with the freedom. He tries to shrug it back up while keeping his hand outstretched, though this seems almost impossible. He gives up, letting the black - and quite likely, hot - instrument dangle above the grass, its smooth surface reflecting a range of white light. "The name's Dare, and this here is April," the teen says in introduction, nudging April higher on his shoulder as he addresses her.

Gyre couldn't help but grin as she grabbed the guitar's strap, pulling it back onto the teen shoulders to sit comfortabley. She then took his hand in a firm handshake. "I'm Gyre! It's a pleasure to meet the both of you." She nodded to April, acknowledging that she would shake her hand, too, if it were offered.
She admired the way he cared for his sister, and had an instrument! He must be quite talented, she mused silently. Gyre wondered why her own mother wasn't like him.
Stepping back, she shifted her mask again. Nice as it was, the thing made her nose itch terribly. "I'm sure my mother will find her way back eventually." She quickly looked over her shoulder to check. Her mother had a tendancy to sneak up on her at times. When no one appeared, she turned back to Dare.
She pointed to the guitar. "Do you play rock, or ahh..ahh-kuu-stick?" Her tongue stumbled over the words. She had heard it on the television, and she hoped it even referred to something that could be done with a guitar.

He smiles softly at the gesture with his guitar, grateful that the weight wasn't lopsided anymore. With the questions about his instrument, however, he lights up like a kid in a candy store.
"I can play both, actually. My favourite guitar's electric, though I'm currently borrowing-" Without the willing intention to give it back.. "- an acoustic from the place I work. Both carry out the purpose of music for me as well as I prefer."
He brushes at some red hair falling into his eyes absently. April's eyes have begun to close, but she channels her attention towards the movements of the graceful girl. She doesn't move all clumsy like her own Daddy does, bumping into things and getting hit by them..
"Gyre.. Gyre.." he repeats the name quietly, straining to remember the reference. When he can't make the connection, he decides to throw it out there, the Legends being his best guess. The girl is young and might likely have been one of the babies he's played for before, at the Headquarters. "You wouldn't happen to be a Legend, would you?"

Stepping back, Gyre gave a quick twirl. She was surprised that Dare had come to that conclusion so quickly. Was April a Legend as well? "I would happen to be a Legend, yes indeed. Are you and April Legends too?" She'd never met April, which was why she asked. She could sense a magical quality about her, but still was unsure.
He borrowed a guitar from a place where he worked? she thought absently. Where did he work? She couldn't recall any music shops in Durem, but then again, she never really looked. "Where do you work, Dare?"
The purpose of music? She'd never thought of it that way. Interesting concept. She wondered what the purpose of dance was.
(( Sorry. Sister was bothering me. ))

April opens her eyes again, blinking drowsily in an attempt to stay awake. She'd heard her name, and that calls for more interest. Though, keeping up is hard when you've been through a long day of walk-walk-walking..
"I'm a Legend," Dare states, rather proudly at that. Now-a-days, they seem to be springing up like flowers, but he prides himself in being one of the first and oldest. "April isn't, though. She.."
He stops, unsure of how to continue. He'd only heard bits and pieces, confused ones of how she really came. And the explination he heard of her coming out of a book is rather unreasonable to explain to someone you've just met.
".. isn't one. She's just as powerful as one of us, though, an' I think once she gets older she'll prove that even more."
That was a safe enough answer, he decides, adjusting his arm under April's weight, having lost circulation into his hand. Though, if Uncle Pippin decides to put out a report on his girl.. He swallows, glad to have the excuse of moving on to the next question.
"I'm heading back into the city, actually. There's a cafe there where I work weeknights, and a studio I frequent closeby my apartment," he explains reflectively, his mouth tugging into a smile. Having his own place and earning his own living seems a respectable thing, and on the same token it makes him seem a lot older than he feels.
April's head revisits Dare's shoulder, eyes finally submitting to fatigue and closing themselves. Something moves her yellow scarf, but nothing more comes of that.

Gyre nods, allowing the subject to drop. Apparently, Dare didn't want to talk about April's origins, which was completely fine by her. "I have a little brother, and he is not a Legend, either. He is still a baby, though." She smiled when she thought of Lucius and how cute he was. Sad that he still did not speak a word of intelligible language, though.
Gyre's ears perked at the mention of a studio. "Studio, like a music studio? I've been wanting to find a dance studio, but Mom doesnt know a whole lot about that kind of stuff. She did let me borrow her phonebook, though."
Dare must be pretty independent, having his own place and a job. Someday I'll have to do that, too. Gyre tilted her head. "Is having your own place fun? I mean, then you don't have anyone to tell you what to do." It wasn't as if living at home was bad, Gyre just hated being told what to do. It was against her principles.
"Why are you headed back to the city, if you don't mind me asking?"

[Bad guilds.]
"I live in the city," Dare explains, though he stops short. Now he'd given it away, that April is coming with him and if she hears anything about a disappearance.. Why did he open up so easily to her? Bah!
He reconsiders this quickly. "Dropping April off at home first, of course, I just wanted to spend some time with her before I have to go back. Leaves from work don't last forever, y'know."
He looks to the left as someone shows up through the trees, looking back after deciding they weren't a threat. "It's great to have my own place. Granted, you have to do your own cleaning, laundry, and all that jazz, but the freedoms can have their benefits. No bedtime!" He laughs quietly, readjusting April a second time. She doesn't open up her eyes, fast asleep and curled up as if she has a shell to hide in.
"I intern at the music studio, just once a week gig to help set up equipment. It's nothing big, but eventually I'll get heard, maybe get signed.." He smiles faintly at the thought. It's a nice thought, however unlikely. "Do you go to lessons, Gyre, or are you teaching yourself how to dance? I've seen a ballet studio or two downtown I could recommend you take a look at, if you want."

Gyre shook a thumb over her shoulder in the general direction of her home. "Mom and the family live just over there, not too far. I think it would be neat to live in the city. Not as quiet there, I bet."
Dare sounded like he had everything in his life perfectly aligned. At least, it seemed that way. He did appear nervous, though, and Gyre was concerned, if only for a little bit. She was sure he could care for himself, especially if he had his own place, his own life.
"I'm sure you'll be signed as soon as some bigwig hears you. I know I've never heard you play, but the way you hold your guitar - I can tell you love it." Gyre was the same way with her ballet shoes. If it wasn't for them, she couldn't dance. Not ballet, anyway.
She smiled as he asked how she learned. "I'm teaching myself right now. Mom bought all these 'How-To' videos for me to watch. That's what I've been using. Mom would try it with me, but she gave up after falling and hitting her head one too many times."
At the mention of studios in the city, she brightened considerably. "Really? You've seen studios? I'd love to go! Do they cost anything?" she wondered absently. Getting money wouldn't be too hard, especially if she did chores around the house...
