The sun peaked over the tops of the Kawani Village sending the birds into their early morning songs. The purple headed thief used this noise to escape from a soon to be furious white maned herd mate of his. He spread his wings once he reached the eastern outskirts and leaped into the sky just as a particularly vicious call reached his ears. He shuddered making a mental note not to come back any time soon before adjusting the pack of apples he had snatched.
As the fireball cleared the ground Dark found he was far enough away to be safe for at least a few hours so he landed to enjoy his break fast. He chuckled at his friends as he bit into the apple. The seemed to think that he wouldn't bother stealing from them. Sure it wouldn't be anything big but he wasn't above taking a decent pile of apples.

Kiefer chewed on a few pieces of grass, how bland. It had been some time since he had last met another stallion, exept for a few brief meetings. Not taht he didn't mind, mares were perfectly nice. But sometimes they got boring, and it was hard to relate to them.
Just then, from the sky, down came something tan, black, and purple. Another soquili with wings! He couldn't count how many of those he seemed to be seeing lately. Whatever, they were never much different then the regular soquili like himself.
"Hello there" he said, raising his eyebrow at the stallion. He was unlike anything Kiefer had ever seen, with fabric like how the two leggers wore it. Strange, very strange. Why would a soquili ever need that? And his mane was quite funny as well, spikey and weird.
Kiefer felt a bit drab in comparison to the newcommer, wingless, clothless, and boring. Of course, he had never cared much for looking spectacular, or having some kind of special feature. No, he was fine with how he was.

Dark blinked and swallowed his apple. Someone was talking to him and that someone didn't sound particularly feminine. He turned and came face to face with another stallion. He laughed slightly and turned away deciding that this wasn't as great of a location as he had hoped but he would just have to deal with it. "Hey." He said taking another bite of his apple as he began studying the male.
Yellow coat with brown markings, green eyes, he looked fairly normal. Not like some of the girls he'd met or many he'd only seen walking around. He hoped that he didn't have some sort of inferiority complex because of it. Guys were always hard to deal with when they didn't get as many mares as you. He laughed at himself thinking that no one would ever have as many females crawling after them as he had.
"So...you want something?" He asked swallowing his second bite.

Kiefer shifted, a bit annoyed. It seemed like this stallion was quite intent on brushing him off, when Kiefer had been nothing but polite to him. Well, he certainly wouldn't be pushed around. Then again, maybe the stallion was just distracted? Kiefer didn't care, everyone should at least pretend to be interested.
"Where did you get those apples?" he asked, eyeing them suspiciously. Why in the world would a stallion pick all those apples only to fly away and eat them somewhere else? Seemed rather pointless. "I am Kiefer, by the way." he added, not being completely nice about it.
Was this one of those annoying soquili that thought because he wasn't 'special' he wasn't worth their time? Well, he would show him. Kiefer knew he wasn't wonderful, but he certainly deserved the respect everyone else always got.

"Let's just say they aren't from any apple tree." He said chuckling finishing off his first apple. He wasn't about to tell another male he was a thief. While mares squealed at the thought of dealing with someone so dangerous it always seemed that stallions wanted to take the law in there own, well, hooves. It seemed best not to tell this Kiefer or risk having to find another spot and while he didn't like being pestered he was a bit tired of lugging the apples around.
"You like apples Kiefer?" He asked grabbing the sacks strap and, unfurling his wing for a bit of added force, he pulled it from around his neck and off his back. He gave the yellow stallion a grin before dropping the sack on the ground and from it a few dozen shiny red apples spilled forth. They were bound to be the best apples seeing as Amoena had picked them especially for her mom and well, she never settled for second best.

Kiefer wasn't the type to care if another stallion stole or not. To each his own, really. As a foal, and still as a stallion, he had never really cared much for rules himself, although he was never blatently bad. Just a lot of sneaking out as a foal, and the occasional rude comment.
"Oh..." he said, suspiciously. "Yes, I do, though" he said, looking down at the apples. They did look very good. And what did he care, where they came from? As long as they were good, and unharmed, therre was no giving them back to the tree at this point, so might as well eat them.
Kiefer took it as an invitation to try one. He leaned down, picking the biggest and juciest he saw. With one bite he heard the satisfying crunch, and the joices flowed out. He finished, and swallowed "Verry good...erm. Pick, you managed"

"Picked special from the tree." He said failing to mention exactly who picked them. He chuckled to himself then leaned down to pick up another this one more on the pink side. Assuming that it would be more sweet he took a large bite. A few minutes later the chunk was lying on the ground and dark was staring at it as though it had tried to kill him. In an attempt to protect his pride he straightened up and shook his mane saying, "I think it was poisoned."
Truthfully, Dark just had this thing about bitter, he didn't like it. Mares were sweet and sometimes a bit spicy so he reasoned everything else should be as well.
Kicking the bitter apple away kneeled to take a small test bite out of another. He nodded as he swallowed deciding that this one suited his tastes much more. "This one seems good but I'd be careful..." He said keeping up the act almost as if he believed it himself.

Kiefer still felt a bit suspiciousl about where the stallion obtained the apples, but what ever. It wasn't his problum where they came from, anyway. He leaned over and took another. It was just as good as the first, these apples, wherever they came from, were good.
He watched the other's antics, almost laughing. "Poisoned, eh?" he asked, not beliving him. "How did you managed to get your hands on a poisoned apple picked fresh off the tree? Hope you don't die" he said, openly showing his suspicion.
"Well, next time I would be more careful, looking for poisoned apples and all. You never know when one might be just around the corner" he continued to joke, cracking up. Was this stallion serious? Kiefer had never heard of such a thing, poisoned apple. The one he had left did have a bit of a funny color, it was probubly older then the others. So why eat it, why not just toss it aside? Since when did poison cause pre-mature aging in apples?

Crimson eyes darkened violently, this was the exact reason why he hated males. "I never said that I got them from there..." He said ruffling his feathers in annoyance. As the yellow stallion continued to mock him however the line between annoyance and anger had been crossed.
Charcoal wings spread quickly with a flurry of black feathers and the thief began to approach. The smile on his face didn't falter even as he purposefully squashed the bitter apple sending juice squirting into the air. "I'm so glad I met you..." He said his face and voice showing clear distaste. He could take teasing from the females, they had so much to offer him. But stallions had nothing he desired, except perhaps some rare bit of shine and he didn't pin this boy as one of those collectors.

Kiefer's eyes widened as he stepped back, then stood his ground. He had gotten in fights before. Sure, they never turned out wonderful, but he certainly wasn't going to run away. Heck, usually stallions were all talk and no go. Also, he had heard his father's stories of being able to talk a Kalona into not eating him. Even becomeing friends with one!
"Chill out, man. I was just joking. I'm not so paranoid as to think that something is poisoned around here. It is generally pretty safe, that is why I found your..erm. Comment so amusing. I guess to each his own, though. I could be wrong" he said, shrugging.
Certainly this stallion wasn't that violent. At the very least, he didn't take jokes very well at all. A sense of humor was soemthing that Kiefer held value in, and if one chose not to use theirs, or buried them down, they must be very ignorant, because nothing was more fun than laughing. Then agian, he had often gone too far in his mockings.

Dark flapped his magnificent wings a few times demonstrating how powerful a blow he could give with them before folding them safely at his sides. "You can never be too safe..." he said as the hairs running down his spine began to prickle. Sure there wasn't any danger right now but as soon as more people caught on to his nature there was sure to be trouble. Trouble would lead people from his past to him and then there would be danger, no, you could never be too safe.
This stallion had nothing to worry about though. He wasn't the time to end up neck deep drowning in his own problems. He was lucky, simple, but lucky and somewhere deep in his heart he envied that. He would never admit it though, his jealousy wasn't something he shared with others.
"I'd be careful with your jokes if I were you, they might get you in over your head someday." Dark said returning to his previous post to continue his appley breakfast.

Kiefer watched the stallion calm down, and make a comment about watching for danger. Ah, whatever. That was one thing Kiefer never worried about. His nature wouldn't let him, as well as the fact that he really had nothing to worry about anyway. For the most part, he didn't have any enemies, and never thought about the dangers of things.
"Well, whatever." he said, still thinking the stallion's reaction was a bit dramatic. Everything about this guy seemed dramatic and over played. Was that how he was, or simply around Kiefer? Surely someone that excited and nervous must have been up to no good. Ah, well. Who cares?
"I think I will take my chances" said Kiefer, inwardly rolling his eyes. When the time came to keep his mouth shut, odds were he would. He only really made jokes when he felt safe, and usually he was right. With a Kalona, maybe not so much.

Dark's crimson eyes narrowed. It seemed he had worn his welcome thin or vice verse. He kneeled and began to shove the apples back into the woven bag. He didn't like men, he never would, and he had made the mistake of thinking that there was even a slight chance he would get along with this one. He stretched out a wing and using it along with his mouth he pulled the bag back around his neck.
"Do what you want.." He said stretching his wings out once again though not to hit the other. "Great talking to you but I've gotta fly." He gave his wings a few flaps to stretch them before catching the wind, allowing it to push him into the air. He circled the yellow stallion a few times from the air deciding whether he should really go. He nodded to himself. Kiefer had nothing to offer him and he had gotten his breakfast so it was time to return those apples. "By the way, the names Dark!" He called down before flying off.
