It had been a busy few days and everything passed by Carl in a blurr of ever constant change. Losing feathers, growing feathers, sudden pains, mood swings, more get togethers than he could shake a stick at...It seemed like everything had taken the form of a truck and plowed into him all at once. Only this morning he'd been perfectly cheerful only to tell some guy on the way there to kiss his fluffy butt as he stormed off towards the shop, only to feel remorse as he pushed open the door and slinked in.
What the heck was WRONG with him? Carl rubbed the back of his feathered crown and gave a whistle into the shop, letting anyone there know of his entrance without giving so much away as they would follow him into his suddenly assumed hiding place. Yes, for some reason he just wanted to crawl somewhere and observe the day go by, so knowing the best place for any Velvet to hide - he moved to the plush lined shelves and climbed inbetween them, concealing himself in a group of other birds and jungle animals.

The door opened a few moments after Carl had found his perch, revealing a woman holding a bag. Takiko looked down into her bag and smiled to her newest addition to her family, before walking over to the couch and sitting down. Pulling out Nanet slowly, she set the newly grown alligator down on the table before pulling out her notebook and a pencil. Settling back some more she became engrossed in her writings and let the small creature have some fun of her own, clueless about the bird that was sitting in the room as well.
Nanet just blinked at Takiko before turning away, getting a good look at the room she had been to once before. Somehow, it had a sense of familiarity as if she had been there before. Moving to the edge of the table, she looked down and let out a long sigh.

Ooooooo new velvet! New animal on the block that he'd never heard anyone mention before. Carl was an opportunist in that way - waiting for new kid or animals to show up just so he could claim them first and have the proud right of saying 'I knew them when' in passing days when they would begin to succeed at things. But was it worth his while today? Was the strange reptile even something he wanted to tango with?
Regardless of the attire of a guest, it is a King's duty to make them feel welcome in his court - be they beggar or nobility.
A well spoken verse that had held true to every single story he'd ever heard about a king or prince. He shuddered to think what might go wrong if he appeared 'too good' for the strange species - so falling back for a moment against the farthest point of the shelf, he made sure his attire was in place before gently moving one of the plushies asside and stepping out gracefully, bowing low to woman and velvet.
"Greetings, to my guests. By what occasion do I have the honor of adressing the both of you to this place?"

Takiko took a glance up at the voice, expecting to see a human but not surprised to see a velvet. Putting her notebook to the side temporarily, she smiled brightly at the bird and was a bit entertained to hear his way of speaking. Taking a glance over to where Nanet was sitting, she turned back and decided to speak up, considering her daughter could not.
"I decided to bring Nanet here to get a look around, and possibly meet a few new friends..."
She looked between the two before waddling over towards the closest end of the table, trying to get a good look at what had just spoken up. Just as Takiko had said, she wanted to meet some new friends, though she couldn't really speak out about it in her current state.
So, instead, she just peered up at him with wide eyes, engrossed in his words and appearance as a slow wide smile spread across her mouth.

He rose from his initial bow and smiled, moving closer to scale the couch and come at her level. It took a minute, but soon enough he was next to the woman with hand extended and a smile playing upon his features. "Well than, miss, it's a pleasure to welcome you both. My name's Carl, by the by, and I'm assuming that she," Motioning to the reptile, "is Nanet?"

She giggled and held out a finger, not sure how to shake a hand of a small velvet, and waited for him to grasp it. As she pulled away, she looked over to where Nanet was before picking her up in her palm and setting her up next to Carl.
"Yes, this is Nanet and my name is Takiko, it is a pleasure to meet such a handsome and well spoken velvet such as yourself, Carl."
She was used to being picked up now, so she didn't squirm as she was settled next to the bird. Looking at him from bottom to top, she wiggled back a bit on her four legs before grinning largely once again, her tail swinging back and forth before thumping on the couch. However, she still stuck close to Takiko, unsure as to what to do despite her smile that revealed all rows of her pearly teeth.

Carl did so, gently, before releasing and watching as the newcommer was brought closer to him. He merely rubbed the back of his head at the compliments and turned it away slightly, trying to retain what he'd learned in the past few weeks although he could feel that hot air balloon of pride beginning to lift off. "Oh, thank you. I'm just one of the many fine Velvets who come around here...But it is nice to make your aquaintance, Ms. Takiko - I'll be sure to remember you." But here now, what about Nanet?
He moved a bit closer and observed the various rows of lethal ivory fangs, each glistening with a potent mixture of chemicals commonly used to break down the tissue of prey animals...A good thing he wasn't one! The teeth made him no more uncomfortable than the fact that she was a big girl...Not fat. Just BIG, at least for an animal. "And hello there to you, Nanet. I've never seen an.." Her teeth gave her species away from her close cousin, "Alligator before, let alone one of your particular coloration. It suits you though, and it sets off those pretty green eyes of yours and nice white teeth."

Takiko settled back and just left Carl and Nanet alone, feeling she needed to give the two their own time. Somehow, if she always was with Nanet, it seemed as if the girl would grow up hooked on her mother's side. So, she picked up her notebook and pencil, and moved back silently to watch them a bit and write down the poetry that flowed through her mind.
Blinking a bit as she slowly processed what he said, considering the fact she never really looked at herself much, Nanet's smile grew slightly before she batted her eyes and moved a bit closer. While she couldn't talk, her actions showed she really appreciated the words that Carl said, so she moved over to his feet and set her head down on one, showing that she was happy. That, and she had a feeling the smaller she acted, the better he would feel about being around her. But maybe it was just a hunch, and she had no idea why she felt that way.

Well at least this one wasn't going to flee in terror of his big claws or sharp beak. Carl could feel his tail feathers twitching anxiously, almost as though some subconcious tic in his mind was...of all the stupid things...nervous. But who would acknowledge something so..petty?! Was he not a man of great and powerful prescense, of magnitudical - if that was a word at all - greatness? Willow would probably smack him for those thoughts, but they served as the billows to pump the wind back in his sails as he tried to make himself appear valliant and regal whilst he leaned down to pat her on the head. A charming smile graced his features. "My, aren't you affectionate...we could make quite the companions, if you would have me, Milady."

Her emerald eyes closed in bliss as he patted her head, a sound much like a purr resonating from the back of her throat, if it was even possible. As she continued to listen to his words, she seemed to grow all the more excited of his presence, until he offered the idea of the two being companions. At that, she gave a start, eyes snapping open as she moved back and smiled once again.
Clearly, the idea itself made her heart soar, and before she knew what got into her, her happiness flooded into her legs and she all but pounced. In a split second she was 'hugging' him to the ground, a glomp of sorts as her slightly smaller form spanned across his. Her tail wagged back and forth as she just sat atop of him, clueless to what his reaction would be. In her mind, it was the perfect way to show her acceptance to the situation.

Oh shi...WHUMP! The bird let out a small 'eep' sound before he found himself. Carl wiggled frantically beneath the girl, first trying to free himself by pulling out with his claws burried in the floor, but the movement ceased. The bird lay still.
Not hurt - mind - but Carl realized something that caused him to stop entirely, looking up at her. What if trying to escape hurt her feelings? He'd read about how girls this affectionate were very easily offended, and what if she thought that he thought that she wasn't pretty enough or something? Oh the pain she would inflict on him or the guilt trips her 'girl friends' would bring with.
For once in his life, his own addiction had gotten him into a fix without the answers to gracefully escape, so he lie there looking up at her, a confused smile playing his features while his feathers fluffed up.

Takiko thankfully took a glance up from her notebook at that precise moment and let out a startled gasp.
"Nanet!" She said with surprise, before gently lifting the half-a-foot gator off of the bird and setting her down with a nervous laugh, "Sweet, you have to be careful, I know how hard it is to show affection, but sometimes people don't enjoy such contact...Are you alright Carl?" She asked while petting her 'daughter', a sign that no hard feelings were met, just that Takiko was trying to teach a lesson.
Nanet had no clue what was going on, thanks to the fact that her body make-up made it hard to see Carl's face. However, an itch in the back of her mind sensed a bit of discomfort, though she knew she was quite happy where she was. When Takiko picked her up, she glanced down with a sigh, listening to her owner and feeling slightly remorseful as her head was bowed from where she sat.

He was slightly dazed, but Carl only nodded and chuckled, pushing himself up and waving a hand as though it were nothing. "I'm fine, I'm fine...I don't mind Nanet's hugs, but next time just a little warning, alright sweetheart?" The ending name came with a wink towards the alligator, re-instating his wiles while he rolled back his shoulders and cracked his neck back into comfort.
Well - at least he could say he was loved! Once he finished re-aligning himself, he stood and moved over to the girl. "Don't worry about it, alright? And if you like - I'll show you my talent."

Looking up with sorry eyes, she watched him a bit tentatively. When he seemed alright, she lightened up slightly and waddled a bit closer, more comfortable than before. As his last word was said, she tilted her head slightly and clearly was confused, but none the less she moved closer still and waited with wide eyes, just as if she were listening to one of Takiko's stories.

Carl's smile formed into a grin, a look of showmanship overtaking him as he flexed for a moment. Over the course of the last week or so, the bird certainly had worked up some muscle. Biceps, triceps...other muscles he didn't know the name of...they appeared toned and sleek, hidden well away when he relaxed but still noticable if one were to see him without his attire. But flexing was not the gift of which he spoke. Rather - it was what came from it.
The bird leaned down close to the alligator, slipping his hands very gently beneath her - so as to avoid poking her with his claws - and braced himself for a moment before finally it came. Carl pulled up with one smooth movement, and looked to see if he'd managed to sweep up the girl in a bridal-style embrace.
