arrow Headed to District 78, Inuzuri
Hiren burst out the South Gate, and was moving across the district rooftops, headed for Inuzuri. Following along side her was a small force of shinigami robed in black, the first 'strike force', one could say.
As they passed through the first district, the shinigami moving with her broke off, headed for different districts. Their main mission wasn't to fight, just to scout.
She herself kept moving, heading at rapid speeds toward the distant district. But even her Shunpo only allowed her to cross the distance so fast.

Kaosu stopped, in the middle of the street. He was breathing heavier than normal, looking around for any movement whatsoever. More importantly, he was was looking around for shinigami. He didn't want to be discovered just to be sent back to headquarters. No, he was looking for the beast that hurt Tsai. And when I do...there will be hell to pay. He sprinted down a random lane, only the empty footsteps echoing off the walls to keep him company. And the occasional group of spying stares from holes in the walls. Safe zones for wandering spirits.
Where are yoouu...stupid female ryoka...where would I be if I was a ryoka threatening to take over the Soul Society?

Shortly, Kaosu sprinted back the way he came; towards the Sereitei. This time, however, his breath was tinted with the smell of vomit. He couldn't believe it. It was...unbelievable. He realized they could have been strong but not...not like that. Not...not genocidal. He ran no-holds-barred towards his goal, safety. This is not good.

Nagi shunpous from roof to roof heading towards Inuzuri. Nagi dashed forward with great haste. "His reiatsu... it's getting clearer, I can feel it much more than before.."
The power of this ryoka was indeed one to be put into the records...

Kaosu pinned himself against the wall when the shinigami approached. Whew. Thank god he didn't notice me. That would have been bad. But, just then, he smiled. He wiped his chin, his sense of adventure returning. They were just citizens. They had no power. I could have killed them...albeit a little slower...let's get this party started. He began running again, and jumped to the top of the roofs. He kept running, his eyes peeled for any activity.
I wonder if I could feel her presense...I wonder. Alright scalpel lady...here I come. He jumped a gap, continuing to run. That is...if I find you. How about you just come to me...?

[South] District 1 to arrow [South] Inuzuri District #78
The still frowning Ugu leaped onto a nearby building the moment he cleared the gates of Sereitei. His eyes pierced the freakishly poisoned air around him. Death abounded--he could simply sense the imbalance of the realm. Too many were already dead. But what could he do?
He stopped on the roof that he had just jumped onto. His eyes looked downwards at his sandalled feet. 'What can I do?.. Those three Ryoka must be stronger than more than 99.99% of inner Soul Society combined.' His frown kept firm. 'It's.. Insane. I have no power over this situation. All I can do is heal some people that have survived the monsters. There's no way I can stop them.' Zenmaru remained there, staring at his feet, petrified by self doubt.
Shaking the thought, the shinigami then made way toward the Inuzuri district. His feet leaped from roof to roof, tactically avoiding the sad and angry citizens of Rukongai, to go toward the 78th district.

arrow District 78: alleyways.
heeding Miyoko, Megumi walks into the alleys of the area that had just recently been decimated..and sighs. There are bodies HERE too. Damn it all. He just closes his eyes and shakes his head. This was just unsightly. There was nothing beautiful about this carnage. It wasn't done beautifully at all. The loss of so many who could appreciate the flowers..
"What is it that is of such great import..? You sounded serious."

Miyoko's voice was calm as she made a soft incantation, and the bodies incinerated into swirling ash, her reiatsu exploding from her in several soft pinpricks of light.
"Listen, Megumi. If you're going to house her, honestly house her, I believe that you deserve the entire truth. But I need to know if you're going to be willing to do this, and more than that, I need to know if you're going to repeat anything I tell you," she was a little anxious, but it only showed in the shifting of her stance, as a cool breeze swept down to scatter the ashes along the ground. The best burial a soul could get.
"Because if you can't keep silent, I can't risk getting you involved at all," tone firm, and the lines of her face set.

"That depends. If it's a sercurity matter, most likely I can except perhaps under duress by the enemy. Torture sort of does that to a person, you know. Mind you..it won't matter. There's someone up here who already knows. In fact, he refuses to tell me. He says that it's really not his place to mention it..but he does say that there are dark forces at work. What is it that you want to let me know then? If it's officially an order not to say anything, I'd be duty bound anyway. I do have a name to uphold.."
He pops his neck from side to side..tipping his head..

"It's an official order."
She settled onto the ground after a moment, nodding, and gesturing for him to do the same.
"Ran as you know it, is, yet is not the person you know," she lifted a hand just slightly, fingers spreading.
"You two have been intimately close enough through fighting, that surely you have noticed the tattoo on her back. This is not a tattoo, but is instead the marking of her family. Her family name is not Hana, it is Hanazakari," she sighed, and made a lotus symbol on the ground, gesturing around it briefly, before she continued.
"During the first war with Hell, there were several casualties among these 'casualties' was the birth of several children. These children passed on a very unique set of genetics. Sort of like a house passes on it's trait. These children were born from a union, willing, or otherwise, with some of the invading Shinigami," she made a small marking as she spoke, indicating gates.
"Five other families were also 'infected' with these genetics. Among these families was Ran's. Her father, you see, was one of them. When the invaders first came, as Aichou will explain, suppressors were used to allow those who decided to, to remain. They weren't nearly so organized before."
"Initially, the seal placed on a few specific shinigami was that of the lotus, though others bore other marks. The lotus became a house 'mark', in the case of the Hanazakari, and the tattoo was placed on Ran's back when she was still an infant, in order to keep her instinct suppressed from the very beginning. Unfortunately, the suppressors on her father weakened after a time, and he murdered several very influential shinigami," she drew marks through the five symbols around the lotus.
"These families were run out of Soul Society completely. This included the Hanazakari clan. We discovered, a little too late, that Ran had been left behind by her parents. When she initially found her, she was in Kusajishi. We placed a shinigami to watch her from a distance, and when her abilities blossomed, we made certain she made her way to the academy," a circle was placed around the lotus.
"The seal, unfortunately, is weakening, and has been for quite some time. Surely you have noticed this. More than anything, she needs training. This is something that she can receive at your home, as well as protection. Just wandering around the academy however, could be very dangerous for her. If the other side finds out that even one of their half-spawn is wandering around Soul Society, they could turn her against us, or worse - kill her outright."
She scratched her hands through the marks in the ground.
"And so we come to our dilemma. We need your family to help us house Ran. But she cannot find out about her heritage yet. Not until we have had a chance to strengthen the seal on her power. Around you she seems.. calm, almost unwilling to go further. Why, we don't know. But we'd like to use that to our advantage, if you're willing to allow it."

He chuckles softly after listening..and sits, crossing his arms. Well isn't this a dilemma. Oh dear. An exiled family member in his house? Wouldn't his uncle just LOVE that. He wonders if she realizes what it is she's asking? His family needs all the prestige it can get, being not one of the largest families. She could get away with it..she's from one of the Four Great Families..but..he sighs.
"You're asking me to take in an exile..with a volatility problem..into a noble house who only has some influence. What you're saying is, risk everything my family name has been trying to build, to house someone who is essentially a fugitive. The fact is, if things go bad and she goes out of control, my name will come up as having known, my family will be punished, and at best, you'll be reprimanded because all you did was try to protect the government's secrets. It will be swept under the rug, everyone will go on, the war will end, and our name will be written out of everything while some hero will recieve all the accolades. I know how these things work. I've been raised a noble."
He sighs, and shakes his head..
"I don't think you know what you're asking. Even if it were possible, it's not the greatest idea. Not even for the sake of my family name..no it's..well. I guess I have my own little secret. That man in my head..well. I don't know how much he told you before, but I'm not alone in here with him. Through a cruel trick of fate, I ended up with a hollow. I don't know what they call abominations like me..but Ran and I aren't so different. If anyone found out, I'd be exiled too. I think it would be best if I didn't keep her at my family estate. Actually, I have a small little place of my own. That would be better..but I can't involve my family in this. Their name is too important to deal with such a thing. It's what I'd be expected to do..protect the name first.."

"I assure you, I'll make certain my family name comes up first," a wry grin, "I know we can take the pressure better than you can."
A shake of her head then.
"I already know you have a hollow inside of you. Your thread is different, more than that, your reiatsu is, at times, similar to theirs. At Soutaichou's request, we keep things like this, secret, for the betterment of Seireitei."
A dismissive wave of her hand.
"Keep her at your personal estate then, just keep her somewhere she's safe. As long as it's in the gates of Seireitei, and not in Rukongai, we can keep a closer watch on her, without her jeapordizing the other students at the academy," she cast Megumi a brief, meaningful look then.
"And I know you two have a bond. What exactly, I don't know, but something keeps tossing you two together. And when she's upset, you get upset. What's more, I overheard you telling your sword that you missed her, and I really doubt you meant your weapon," pinning him with a glance, she stood.
"You can help us protect her, or you can do nothing. I leave this choice with you. If necessary, I will house her in the Shihōin estate, though I hesitate to keep her so close to inner Seireitei."

"It isn't just that. There's more to it. You've felt the odd energies. From what I understand, a hollow takes over after it's surfaced..I've had mine all my life. That odd man inside of my soul is able to keep her in check. You see, my father..was a hollow. I know it sounds odd, but it's not like the other weird cases of shinigami with hollows through some fluke. This was born into me, and it's a legacy I can't shake. The problem is..this white haired man..he knows..always did know..about Ran's history. We went to her family home that day. He knew. He touched the wall..was reading all of the memories in the walls. He probably knows what happened better than you all. But he won't say a word."
Megumi sighs and leans back against an alleyway wall..
"Truth be told, it's worrisome. For one tiny split second, that other me inside of me was able to sense the presence of an energy so vast..I've felt Aichou-sensei's power, and yours, and so forth. But this was a black pit of hatred and destruction. That man in my head..he said that these new devils will most likely seek refuge down in the mortal world where they'll be hard to find. He said they'll most likely work in other ways. Beyond that, he said nothing more. I'll take care of her for now..but I don't know how long I'll be able to. I can't keep her somewhere against her will..and she's quite willful."
