Here is an example of rolling the standard dice for a normal D&D campaign, but this example isn't limited to D&D:

Iomma Sensei rolled 4 6-sided dice:
1, 2, 5, 4
Total: 12 (4-24)

First, select the number of dice you are going to use for rolling, in this case, four d6's.
Ouch! Up in the box, drop the lowest die and bingo! You have it.

Then, you lather/rinse/repeat the process...

...and continue until you have all the stats you need. It helps to post what stats you have rolled so that I know what you're rolling.

Just grab some Yatzee dice and roll them. It'd be better on your health...

Strength = Physical power
Dexterity = Physical Agility and reaction speed
Constitution = General healthy-ness and/or toughness
Intelligence = Your ability to learn
Wisdom = Your ability to understand/ general awareness
Charisma = Personality/good looks. (They don't always have to go with each other, Hell, I've got pretty characters with the personality of a rock.)
