Once the rough spots had been sanded down so to speak, the Olplyns had finally begun to get along with eachother. Toleration led to an odd sort of teacher/student friendship, and she soon proved to be naturally talented, just like her father.
Though, Jatin would never admit such a thing.
It was a sunny summer day, and the young teenager had chosen to spend the remainder of the day working on her weapon handling inside. The sun bothered her skin moreso than expected from a darkhaired Jivvin, and thanks to that she had to partition her time outside in it.
Sitting on the couch, Stazja lazily warmed up her wrists by doing circles in either hand with her sais. A book was opened in front of her, and every so often her tail tip would flick the page over. Luckily, she had a knack for multi tasking.

Lessons had been cut short for the past few days, ever since Lysius's supposed-dead wife had decided to show her face again. And deny that she was his wife, and vanish again hardly hours later. Jatin hadn't even seen her and she was causing him problems. Lysius had been a nervous wreck, there was the very real threat that he would snap and hunt down Jack and all of his family--which included the young teen presently living in Jatin's own house. He did not need a mob of Sargtlins dragging off his prodigy.
He closed the door behind himself and bolted the lock, then, sighing, turned and continued into the room, only to pause in the doorway when he noticed Stazja sitting and studying on the couch. Despite himself, he smiled, watching for a bit longer before wandering over to peek over her shoulder at the book. "What've you got this time?"

She had noticed his arrival, but only decided to tear her attention from the book when he addressed her. "History of Construction, I have the Village blueprints as well." The girl gave a nod to the coffee table, where a stack of musty and rather old papers were carefully organized.
One quick glance up to the Olplyn told her enough, having lived with Jatin long enough in addition to his training, the teen had picked up on how to read the Jivvin rather well. "Zelda's keeping an eye on us and Lysius... Just in case..."

"Interesting choice," he admitted, peering curiously down at the book, though he soon abandoned his stance in favor of stepping around and joining her on the couch. He dropped down and relaxed with a second, more relieved sigh, closing his eyes briefly before reopening them to look over the blueprints. "But a good one... Do you have the more recent ones too? Those include more of the farms and such."
He had spent enough time with the girl over the past few months to know not to let anything she said surprise him, and this new development was no exception, though he was a touch miffed that she had discussed the ordeal with Zelda without telling him. "I'm not sure whether I find that reassuring or not. I haven't seen Lysius like this in... ah, I'm old. Kyros is spending all of his free time keeping Lysius from panicking. I'm not sure even that'll be enough."

The teen nodded slowly, but never once paused her wrist work. "The newest are at the bottom, and oldest on the top." This way, she would be able to note the village's progression, not just where everything was located. To truely know something or someone, one must know its history... It's secrets.
Basics first, then everything else will come naturally.
"She is linked, after all..." Stazja stated softly, but clearly in reference to Zelda. "I stopped by her and Scion's for lunch after my morning workout." It was less suspicious that way.
A simple glance to Jatin asked for his opinion on the subject as well as the situation at hand.

Jatin nodded his approval and sat forward to pick through the blueprints, lifting the older sets from the top to glance over the more extensive drawings below. He didn't immediately respond to her statement, using the blueprints as an excuse to stall for time, but finally set them down and sat back on the couch once more.
"I don't trust Scion...And I rather he wasn't involved in this matter. Zelda's fine, she probably deserves to know. And she'll probably warn your mother about what's going on. But not Scion. Was he home while you were there?"

"He was out with their little one," she murmered, scrutinizing him a moment before returning her eyes to the blueprints. Finishing her repetitions, Stazja carefully set her sais next to her on the couch. "He will not endanger his family, you know that... That includes my mother, and her bond."
Pushing her hair from her face, she looked at Jatin thoughtfully once more. "What else do you reccommend I work on before dinner?" The other talk had been exhausted that day it seemed.

"That includes Zelda and the child, and that's all." Jatin grimaced, lifting a hand to cover his eyes for a moment. "And I'm not even sure how far the loyalty goes for either of them. Otherwise, he's arrogant and selfish and would sell over any of us if it suited his plans. Zelda says he's healed, but I don't believe it." Letting his hand fall, he shook his head. "No, I can't trust him."
He paused for a moment, then smile, turning his attention back to the girl. "Mn, whatever interests you. Actually Stazja, I'd been considering sending you home soon. You've learned a lot... And you're growing up. You don't need to spend your life hiding here."

"Zelda is bonded still, and if Mom dies..." Stazja shook her head and sighed, "I highly doubt he'd risk that, but men do have their arrogance." Placidly, she kept her eyes on Jatin, a slight smile twitching at the corner of her mouth.
There was a pause as she surveyed her current study materials. "I have yet to learn half of what is in the library. As far as combat practice is concerned, my sister is quite capable of continuing my training..."
Her tail flicked and curled into her lap, where her hands crossed and remained resting on top of the dark fur as she gave a little nod to Jatin. "Do you have anything in mind though?"

"Ah, but I'm not sure they would kill your mother." His smile gave way to a faint frown, and he turned his eyes to the empty fireplace, staring off at nothing in particular. "But what the did last time she was here was bad enough." Shaking his head, he chuckled softly. "We could have a very real incident on our hands if this progresses much further, Stazja."
Turning his attention to the girl, he watched her thoughtfully for a moment before shrugging and climbing to his feet. Stepping around the coffee table, he continued on towards the kitchen. "You may want to read up on the creation of the doors, if you haven't already. That, or start you learning the language of the Ssan. I wasn't going to bother if you were going to go home, but..."

"You know as well as me what she'd do if he came after Jack and her family," a harsh and pointed look was thrown in the other Olplyn's direction before she shook her head. "Zelda's worried, and I suggested that her bond be broken to protect herself... But such an idea was worthless."
Sighing, Stazja shook her head and ran a hand through her hair absently.
"Another language wouldn't hurt," she murmured, once again picking up her weapons and twirling them in her hands thoughtfully. They weren't that hard for her to learn anyways.

"I think," he began, speaking carefully, "That as long as your father and Lysius avoid each other for a while, all will be fine. Presuming, of course, that Lysius's wife doesn't decide to miraculously appear again."
Abandoning the subject, he disappeared into the kitchen and returned shortly with a glass of wine, along with a second, though admittedly less-full, glass for Stazja. He offered her the glass before returning to his seat and taking a sip of his own.
"You already know two," he pointed out, as if she'd forgotten. "However, the task of translating between Jivvins and the Ssan has traditionally fallen upon the Olplyn rank. It's not exactly a safe skill, but useful. I can teach you if you want to learn. You've heard it before, I think. Scion speaks it."
