This is the thread for Amanda's subplot.
PostPosted: Fri May 18, 2007 6:25 pm

Amanda walked into the hotel lobby and immediately headed for the front desk.
"Excuse me, could you please tell me where my meeting will be held?"
"Oh certainly!" The woman had a high squeaky voice."You're Amanda, I presume?"
Amanda nodded.
"You're meeting in conference room 3 on floor 2."
"Thank you very much."
"Oh, you're welcome dear."
As Amanda made her way to the elevators on the opposite side of the lobby, she caught sight of the prayer temple out of the corner of her eye. She spotted the statue of her father and gave a look of disgust to those kneeling before it.
Amanda pressed the up-button to the elevator. She saw the little yellow arrow start to blink. She waited for it to arrive.

((Amanda))

Just as her slender white finger depressed the marble button, a shrill and fearful shout rang out from behind her.

"OH MY GOD!!! HE'S GONNA JUMP! MY HUSBAND'S GONNA JUMP!"

She whipped around. It was some frantic middle-aged woman, dressed like she came straight from the yacht club. Her graying hair was only a little desheveled, but her ritzy outfit looked like it had seen better days. She began to scream incoherently the moment other guests and staff members rushed to her aide, and she just wouldn't stop pointing up to the ceiling. With trained professionals checking the scene, however, everything would be okay.

Until, that is, an older man in a tight black suit...even black shirt...entered the room. He had a silvery pompadore atop his tanned, handsome face, and looked as if he could run a mile in nothing flat. The crowd parted at his appearance, and at once, the woman stood stark still, fixed in his gaze. He strolled over to her, embraced her, and kissed her on the cheek. She didn't seem to understand...

"G-George...? But, you w-were..."

He motioned to her, then the crowd, explaining for his wife's actions with a single hand gesture.

"Excuse me. She's not well...come along, Cherie. I've got some friends I'd like you to meet..."

Submissively and in a daze, the lady dropped everything and followed his lead into a suspicious, unmarked door in the direction of his previous entrance. The two were silent...until the door slammed behind them.

Something told you this wasn't right. Who was that woman...? And the man?

The crowd stood dumbfounded...weren't they going to at least check the roof, to be sure? And the door! My God, the door! What the hell??

Psh. People.

Ding.

The elevator was finally here...odd. Did it take too long, or did that encounter just happen all too quickly?

Hm. Strange.

[I'm going to need a character description (physical) during your next post.]

Amanda dashed into the elevator and pressed the button to close the doors. She was alone, and as the elevator surged upwards, she grasped the handles to keep herself balanced. The inside of the elevator was completely lined with mirrors, and she caught a glance of herself as she headed towards the roof of the hotel. Conference room 3 on floor 2 would have to wait.

Her hair was long, wavy and brown with a red headband in it. She wore a black pantsuit, with a red blouse. Her face was pale, and her eyes were brown. Her cheeks were red from the excitement of the lobby.

The elevator came to a stop. She ran out and hurled open the steel doors that led to the roof. The wind was cold on her face. She heard a faint scream to her left. She couldn't see anyone.

"HELLO?! CAN ANYONE HEAR ME? IS ANYONE THERE?!"

All she heard was more muffled screaming. She rushed through the maze of generators and boxes trying to locate the scream. She felt a cold raindrop on her head as she got closer to the chaos. As she rounded the corner, she saw an old man in a sweater vest and khaki pants on the floor shaking. His hands were up in front of his face in a protective manner and he seemed to be in pain. Before him stood 3 men in black with their backs to her.

The old man yelled "Please! Young Lady! Help me!"

The men turned around.

((Amanda))

The bulky men all turned and faced you. They were dressed just like the man you had seen in the hotel lobby. Their builds were just right, too...except...they had blank faces, as if all of the features were wiped away...

A clean slate.

They said nothing. How could they speak? They were as statues, sterile and unnerved. Their rigid bodies stood in militaristic formation, like a man saluting the flag.

Or waiting for orders.

The man behind them, obviously George, stood up and screamed at you.

"HELP! These men tried to take me away! I-I...I swear, I only wanted a breath of fresh air up here! Nothing more! Just help me, please!"

A cold breeze ripped through the rooftop standoff. Stared down by an eyeless trio, you faced an odd decision. How would you deal with these...monstrosities...? And the man, could he be saved at this point? Was he merely a part of their scheme? The blank-faced men did not look friendly, after all. Certainly, you had seen worse things in your life, the way your father operated. But this was real. He was not here to call off your brother and his summonings. He was not here to get a band-aid and make it all "go away". You could not refuse confrontation this time.

They did not move, yet it seemed as if they would spring into action at the drop of a hat.

How would you deal with such beasts?

Amanda looked to her right and left. She did not know what she could do. She didn't have a weapon, or any means of defense.

She couldn't leave poor hopeless George in their hands to be tortured and/or killed.

She was stuck.

Amanda, being a woman of words and persuasion, attempted to talk to these...creatures.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

They merely stared at her.

She tried again. "WHAT DO YOU WANT WITH HIM?"

One of the men stepped forward. He pulled from under his black vest a device. Amanda didn't know what it was. It was sort of small, and circular at the top. On the side were a few switches.

The man lifted it and pointed it at her. She took a step back.

George screamed. "No, don't kill her!"

The man stepped forward and his hand went for the button.

Amanda felt every inch of her body turn cold. Should she run? Should she call for help?

She was torn.

((Amanda))

[Interesting twist. But remember, you can't make these decisions all of the time. I technically control those guys.]

Click. He pushed it.

George screamed wildly, bracing himself for your imminent demise.

You jumped, too, as a wide blue beam struck you square in the face. It scanned your features quickly, almost blinding you with its azure glare. Then, as quickly as it had come, the beam retreated back into its device, leaving you and George somewhat dumbfounded. The man made a motion to speak, but was cut off by a pre-recorded voice within the mechanism...

Subject...Amanda Elizabeth Rozen...Blood Type...Lonarian...75% inheritance...magick...magick...W-...Wyvrina. Confirmed. Subject is a Wyvrina. Danger imminent. Terminate subject.

Wyvrina? What the ********? What was a...n-no...it couldn't mean...you...you could fly?

She didn't have any time for 20 questions...the men all advanced towards you menacinglym hands outstretched. They weren't armed, but it looked like they really didn't have to be. A low hollow sound resonated from their blank faces, and they all advanced on you...

Meanwhile, yet unbeknownst to Amanda, George fainted from all the stress and suffered a massive cardiac failure. He died that day. So much for saving him...
PostPosted: Mon May 21, 2007 5:28 pm

A Wyvrina?

How could this be? It was the only thought that went racing throught her head, even as danger walked nearer. All this time, she had the power to fly?

Startled by the horrible noises coming from the creatures, she snapped back to reality. Was there any way she could use her powers? How could she? She didn't even know where to begin.

She jumped, just a little bit off the ground. She tried again hoping it would trigger some kind of flight-switch. Her frustration and desperation grew with every second past and every step nearer the creatures came.

Was there a way to channel the powers she never knew existed? And if so, how?

Well. That didn't work. To top it off, she jumped like she had polio. At least it threw off the advancing guards for awhile...

((Amanda))

BANG! Click-ick. BANG!! Click-ick. BANG!

Three shots rang out. The first slammed head-on into one of your attackers' face, spewing blood onto his unfazed comrades. The rest continued, aware of some unseen sniper now. Another shot. Whisss! It just missed its target, and sailed off into the distance. They were getting closer now, and BANG!

Searing pain ripped through your right arm. What the ********? Were you...? OH DEAR GOD! Blood was spilling out of your arm, sending waves of anger and pain through your whole body. Damn, it hurt...The guards took this opportunity to rush for you...

In this wounded state, was there any way to make it through? Stop the bleeding? Overcome these bulky men?

You could do it. Yes. You were Amanda Rozen...by far no pushover. Just as long as that damn sniper minds his own business.

Amanda looked at her left hand covered in blood from her bullet wound. The pain was unbearable, and she stumbled around slightly. She tried to focus on the menacing creatures ahead of her.

She backed up as the men advanced on her. Suddenly, she lost her balance as she felt the back of her knees hit the barrier of the roof. She had just saved herself from plummeting 4 stories, when a brilliant idea hit her.

In a moment of desperation, she ran to the right side of the two creatures and used her left arm to push one of them towards the edge of the roof in hopes of pushing him off.

Would she be able to use her own body weight against these creatures, even with her weakening physical condition?

((Amanda))

[Good move]

She was scrawny compared to the beefy, all muscle, 300-pound (give or take) cronie, but it was her only chance of doing some damage.

She braced herself against his side, catching him off guard. Pushing with all her might, she hoped to continue his momentum and fling him off the railing...

But little did she know that the other had stopped, and was now reaching out for her, ready to snap her neck in two...
