This sounds like fun~

Think back to the Forest of Death. We all know the story: Sasuke's cursed seal get's activated for the first time and everyone but Sakura seems to freak out about it and hide. Sakura hugs Sasuke, calming him down, in front of many witnesses.

Shikamaru was one of those witnesses.

That type of moment would stick out in someone's mind for a while, so I don't think Shikamaru (and the others present) ever forgot about Sakura being the one to calm him down. So in this scene he could have been thinking back to that moment and thought, "Even Sakura, who stopped Sasuke from going on a crazy rampage in the Forest of Death wasn't able to make him stay? This must be big." So he chooses using force, which is usually a last resort for some people.

Anyway, this is how I see it:

Shikamaru is a character Kishimoto's been using to pull on ROMANCE. It's crazy. The lazy nin is the one who gets the most direct romantic connotations-- his plans for life, how he's going to meet a woman, blah blah. His dad's comment about "even rough woman are kind to the ones they love". Asuma and Kurenai's relationship. Temari.

Come on. Shikamaru's a freaking romance plot device. And then he makes a comment about Sasuke and Sakura.

I have no idea. XD Ignore me.

It just seems like something that Kishimoto didn't HAVE to add, but he did. To add emphasis to Sakura and Sasuke's bond.

^___^;; I'm glad you guys agree with me on that. I'v ejust always found it weird that he had somuch romance surrounding him.

(And I think, isn't Sakura the character that Kishimoto created originally for romance? It seems he focused more on Shikamaru to be the romantic plot device character, and Sakura as the recieving end.)

Does anyone else besides me think that Sakura's relationship with Sasuke is a lot like Asuma and Kurenai's relationship? It was one of those "unspoken, but it's there" type of relationships.

We all knew Sasuke respected Sakura (especially after the forest of death, when he was yelling at Naruto to catch more fish but changed his mind at the last second when Sakura said she needed him to start the fire. I can show you guys the manga panels for this, I'll just have to find them), and it was obvious he cared (Gaara fight), and we all knew Sakura's feelings-- but we also knew that they understood each other on a level that no one else did. Sasuke was the only one who noticed Sakura was upset before the Chuunin exams. Sakura was the only one who knew Sasuke was leaving. And even in the new chapter, we know that Sakura has a pretty good idea of Sasuke's mind and thoguht process because she's the one who realized that disposing of Itachi isn't the way to get to Sasuke.

It makes you wonder, doesn't it?

I think it's signifigant that Sakura immediately thinks of Sasuke when she hears Oro's name. It shows that she has not forgotten what Oro has done and how he has affected him.

I agree with kawaiikanji that Sakura was taking the fight more seriously when he was mentioned. Not that she wasn't taking it seriously in the first place, but she got more determined.

I can also link this scene back to the FoD again. XD (You probably noticed that I have read/watched that scene over and over...).

The part when Sakura flashes back to Oro when when Sasori mentions him mirrors her doing the same thing in the FoD:




It is always that same image, of Oro revealing his true self that day in the forest that seems to stick out in Sakura's mind. In chapters 93 and 178 Sakura flashes back to that as well. I think it traumatized her, not just because she was scared, but because it affected her and the person she was in love with a lot. That was a very life-changing experience for the both of them.

When Sakura finds out that Sasori knew Oro she gets really angry, and this mirrors another scene in the FoD:



Sakura wanted to know everything about Oro then, but when she got her answer from the Sound Nin she did not respond. However, now Sakura is extremely angry and determined. She will not just sit there helpless, as she says she will beat him half to death and make him talk about Orochimaru.
