"Eesn't it excellent, Angel?" the Portuguese woman crowed breezily, smiling at the rabbit. She made it a point to talk as much in English as she could to Angel. The rabbit rarely offered any constructive criticism whatsoever, and for that Estrelas was grateful. She got enough laughing-at when she accidently shouted, "Mista Sain, what ees theese thing called a Playboy Advance?"
She flopped backwards onto her head and sighed, staring at the ceiling.
Estrelas' room was a museum of the ages. It had the look of the standard LOTUS room, austerely white walls and a plushy gray carpet, along with a simple writing desk, computer, and a bed. However, as with any of the rooms, the soul of the occupant was shown clearly throughout. A wooden crucufix and an image of the Virgin Mary hung above the head of the bed, and wherever the sun touched, there were planters filled with heads of cabbages, carrots, radishes, and a special section for 'Exotic Rare New World Food,' which included things such as corn and potatoes. There was the infamous "Drug-Free Body" poster framed on the wall. Portuguese home-woven blankets were thrown over everywhere, their vibrant colors nearly dizzy-making. Next to a particularly gaudy hanging was a whiteboard and marker, the message written on the whiteboard reading, "This is a Board that is White. You can write things and then make the words go away with a cloth."
But Estrelas' pride and joy was her collection of Advanced Technology, which was proudly displayed on the back of the wall. There were rare scientific devices there, such as matches, which, in case you didn't know, made little flames when you hit them. A copy of Les Miserables was in a fractured glass case, and photographs were piled haphazardly everywhere. There was a little box of scotchtape on a pedestal reading, Warning: Sticks to rabbits easily. And a can of Bush's Baked Beans sat next to a can opener with the sign reading, "Mr. Sain says you can eat it. But I do not see how."
"Angel, Ah am climbing the Corporate Ladder so quickly! Maybe I will be a Secetary next!" Estrelas told the rabbit, who was lounging in the litterbox and chewing hay. The rabbit seemed to have an arrogant, Are you kidding me? look on her face.
Estrelas held up her newest collection piece.
"Angel, Mista Sain says that this is a Playboy Advance, and this is a Pocket Monster game... I do not know how to work it yet, but- ANGEL!"
The French rabbit glared at Estrelas from where she [Angel, not the human] was gnawing at a wire.
"Angel! Stop that- GAHH!" she cried as sparks shot everywhere and the rabbit was flung back.
The lamp flickered and went out.
"OH LORD! THE JUDGEMENT DAY HAS COME! ANGEL! HURRY! LINE UP BEFORE GOD!" If only Eponine were here.

He had been trying to get accepted to LOTUS, and now, that has become a reality. Johannes was anxious to leave his things in his room and walk around HQ, just to get the feel of the place.
"At last, now I'm one step closer to solving perhaps the mystery of my parents' disappearance. I should ---"
Johannes was suddenly interrupted by a woman's scream. He almost immediately tripped, if not for the fact that he was trying to regain his senses as to run towards the direction of the scream. "What, what has happened?!" "Surely not an attack!", thought Johannes as he ran towards the room in question.
"Is everything all right, ma'am?!", panted and gasped Johannes as he reached the door, knocking on it with a hurry.

The door, which was left unlocked and open because there were no locks among the peasantry of 15th century, opened.
Estrelas was shrouded in darkness, the only lighting coming from the window. The young woman was on her knees, clutching a cross and the Holy Bible, her hands clasped in prayer.
"Oh Holy Father in Heaven, Ah have been a very good girl throughout life... I have never kissed a boy, and always faith in You, when I sinned, I repented and confessed to You... Please, don't send me to Hell..." Estrelas cried. "Dear God above, I have had faith in you always..." She slipped in and out between Portuguese and English, but the meaning was clear enough.
Angel shook herself up and continued to chew hay in the litterbox. I miss her.

"Ah..." was all Johannes could say, at the sight. He looked at the young woman, with a very observant look. "Well, at least now I know she seems to be religious", he said under his breath. "And that outfit, where have I seen it before?"
He didn't know what to do in this case, since interrupting someone in their prayers was rude unless you did it in a certain way. "Uh, miss, excuse me deeply, but, uh....are you all right?, asked Johannes quietly and calmly while approaching carefully the woman.
"And are pets allowed to be here?", thought Johannes.

Estrelas let out a yelp that sounded too much like Eponine. With that, she whipped around so quickly and forcefully that is was amazing her neck didn't snap from the rest of her body.
She saw a blonde-haired blue-eyed man, his front shadowed in darkness but a light shining from behind, bathing him in some sort of flurescent radiance.
She scrambled on the floor, picking up her Bible and cross, then knelt in front of him.
"Father?" she asked softly, reverently. "God? My Lord?"
If this was a movie and if Johannes was indeed God, this would be the part where the soft light music started playing.
However, there was a snarl, and from the back of the room, a large white blur shot out with a savage growl, and a very large white rabbit named Angel began to savage the man's pants.
"Angel!" Estrelas cried despairingly. "Stop! That's God!" Kiarna, where art thou?!

"God?" "What, no--". Johannes let out a gasp and yell when a rabbit began to chew and bite away his pants. "Agh, maldita Hase, it's rabid!" "Come on, let go!" "I'm only trying to help your owner here!", yelled Johannes at the rabbit.
"This animal had better be allowed, miss!"

"Pai holy, eu sou assim pesaroso!" she cried desperately to "God."
"Angel! Halte!" She reached down to grab the rabbit, but Angel danced out of the way and continued shredding the pants.
Angel let out a snort-snarl and continued to tear away at the pants.
"Oh Ah am so sorry God!" Estrelas was on the verge of tears. "Angel is a dumb animal, she does no know what she is doing!" This declaration was met with a furious glare from the white rabbit. "But please, Holy Father, Ah have been a good Catholic woman all my life, never once have I strayed from the path of righteousness- actually, maybe once or twice, but it was the situation!" she cried, but as she heard his last phrase, she froze.
"You mean Angel will be allowed in Heaven?" Where is my dear robotic paranoid Eponine?

"Egh...I've...told you....before...miss...that...ergh, egh....I'm NOT God!" Johannes said while struggling along with the woman to get the rabbit off. "And there's no need to cry, I'm sure that you are a good Catholic, but...ergh!" "Verdammt, this rabbit is not normal!"
Johannes kept struggling until he heard the woman's last phrase, and he froze as well. "....well, I doubt the Devil would want it....", was all he could say, frankly, about the rabbit's destination in the afterlife, in his given situation.

"Oh thank you, my Angel is a most excellent rabbit at heart-" Estrelas stopped at the last phrase and stood up.
She poked him in the chest and tried to flip up one of his eyelids.
"...Wait... Are you not God?"

"Ow!, yelled Johannes when the woman poked him, and tried to explain, but the woman was already up in his face. "Eh, miss, this is very improper." "I, I mean, no, I'm not God", said Johannes as he tried to position himself in a proper way away from the woman. "That's what I've been trying to tell you, even as your rabbit tried to eat my pants, along with my leg."

Estrelas turned bright red. "Is it not Judgement Day right now?" she demanded.
"Angel is a rabbit," Estrelas said, as if that was supposed to explain anything. "Angel... Angel, please, come back?"
Angel merely tossed a glare at Estrelas and continued to wrestle with Johanne's pantleg.
"Please?"
With what seemed like a satisfied growl, the rabbit let go of the pant leg before hopping back for a potty break in her litter box.
"And who are you?" Estrelas asked, her already thick Portuguese accent thickening like churned butter.

"No, it isn't, miss, although I wouldn't doubt if it were.", answered Johannes. Looking down to the rabbit while the woman pleaded, Johannes said "So her name is Angel?"
"That's ironic", commented he as the rabbit pulled away.
"Well, miss, my name is Johannes. Johannes Richter, I come from Austria." "May I ask what is your name, dear miss?", asked Johannes as he bowed and lifted the woman's hand up to kiss it.

Estrelas sniffed. "Well of course eet 'as not Judgement Day! But you can never be too careful in case!" she said, her skin under her cocoa-brown tan reddening.
"And yes, this is Angel, she is an angel, is she not?" the Portuguese woman crowed, looking at the rabbit affectionately and making a clucking noise, which Angel frowned disdainfully at. "She is a French rabbit, you see, of aristocratic breeding. She even came in.." Estrelas' voiced hushed mysteriously. "...Something called 'Plastico.' And I am pleased to meet you too, I have never heard of this "Ahhh-Staaa," she said, fiddling with the pronounciation of this new non-Portuguese word.
"I am Estrelas Alvares, from Portugal- yeeeep!" she squeaked as Johannes tried to kiss her hand.
She frowned.
"I am a farmer's daughter, Mista," she said. "And you are obviously of upper up-bringing. You do not kiss my hand; that is improper!" she cried.

"Plástico?" "Ah, so you know Spanish?", asked Johannes. "And it is pronounced 'A-us-t-rí-a', just the same as in Spanish", smiled Johannes.
Johannes exclaimed, "Ah, Portugal, our neighboring country!" He was happy when he heard this, saying "Now I know why your outfit seemed familiar to me." He noticed the frown that Estrelas had put when he kissed her hand. After she had finished her angry statement, he then explained "On the contrary, Miss Alvares, it is proper for a man to kiss a woman on the hand when introducing himself, it indicates respect for the woman, no matter who she is, or where she comes from." He smiled at Estrelas when he finished his explanation.

"Spanish! Ah, Ah have been to Spainish once!" she exclaimed excitedly. "Portugal is right next to Spainish; Old Man Roberto was a Spanish person. He's very strange because he was in a war, you see, and he saw his brother die, and he's never been the same since, or so he says. But Avó told me that he was the secetary in the general's office.
So we are from neighbor countries!" she exclaimed. This pleased her so, Estrelas had a little sister but no brothers.
"Ah see, Ah see.." she mumbled, mulling over his explanation. "Then in this case go on and kiss my hand," she said, holding it out proudly. These new futuristic manners would take some getting used to. She had always thought that only priests, merchants, old people, and people of higher class were greeted, but never her!
